SellCar are good

From start to finish SellCar were friendly, efficient and helpful. Online valuation was slightly higher than the one provided by phone but it was due to additional things that were discussed. At first I was contacted by Abby, extremely kind and nice professional who explained the process and contacted me at every step. Chris who came to see the car could not have been more helpful. He contacted the night before, also when he was about an hour away. He talked me through everything explaining how the auction went. He has done his best to get the best price. I said I could accept only if the car can be collected current week and he said this will be arranged. I was then left with Kirsty who was aware of this and supposed to arrange the collection. I waited the whole next day for information, unfortunately at the end of the day after me asking, she said she cannot do it for the agreed day and it will be next week, after that she stopped responding to my emails and did not answer calls. Left me very stressed out. I then called Chris, who has gone above and beyond to help me fix this, calling me every few minutes with an update and in the end I got a call from Abby who arranged the collection next day morning. They certainly did not leave me without response and not sorting what was promised. Not many companies do that, they have done everything to collect the car on agreed date. I am certain most of companies would leave it and do not care. Collection was quick and easy process. The money was paid and all sorted quickly. Big thanks to Abby and Chris!

Mark from Sellcar was very quick to…all in all a good experience

Mark from Sellcar was very quick to respond to my inquiry and set up a meeting with Chris who came to my house at the requested time and date. At all stages of the process either Mark Chris or Sellcar office kept me informed and the whole process was very thorough. Chris turned up at the allotted time and quickly explained all my questions and gave good advice. Although i did not achieve my ideal price Chris was able to explain and point out a few reasons to this at the end a good price was achieved and the sale went through and a convenient pickup time agreed. All in all a good experience thank you Mick

Chris Bowers

From start to finish SellCar were friendly, efficient and helpful. Chris Bowers who came to see the car could not have been more helpful. He contacted the night before, also when he was about 30 minutes away. He talked me through everything explaining how the auction went. Even when my partner was rushing to get to work he did not get flustered. Cannot fault him at all.

Sellcar state on their website that…

Sellcar state on their website that that their quotes are genuine and accurate. As a result I received a quote of £10,285 for my car which I accepted.
Their inspector, Mike, came to me and duly looked the car over, checked that the paperwork was all in order, and took the car for a short drive. Once back at my place he then proceeded to take photos and a video of the car which he said he was going to download and send to his office. This he did in his car.
He then knocked the door and I invited him in. He stated that he considered by car to be in excellent condition and well looked after. He then began his preplanned buying technique. He said that they had online bidders making offers. He also stated that my car needed a new cam belt which would cost £600. I thought this was extremely odd as he hadn't even lifted the bonnet. He then stated that he could offer me £8,400 for the car. £1,885 less than their 'accurate' quote. He also kept tapping away at his phone as if sending and receiving messages presumably from his office.
I, in turn, looked at my phone and saw that I had a message from my son in law asking if he'd been yet. So I typed my response and mentioned the cam belt. Almost instantly my home phone rang. It was my son in law wanting to speak to me urgently. So I went in another room and took the call. He told me that my Range Rover didn't even have a cam belt. It works off of a timing chain.
So I went back into the other room and confronted Mike. His face was an absolute picture as he realised that he'd been caught out lying. He responded by saying "oh, yes yes yes I've just realised that and adjusted my offer to you to £9,000". Frankly I could no longer believe anything he said. The word bullshit comes to mind. Any semblance of credibility was gone. I told him to leave and escorted him out the door.
But less than ten minutes later he came back. He said his office had just spoken to the three highest bidders and one was prepared to offer £9,250. Given the fact that he had driven away, supposedly got his office to speak to the three bidders, got an increased offer from one, and driven back to my house in under ten minutes beggars belief. So I sent him away again.
Five minutes later he's back. And this time he's saying that the bidder wouldn't increase his offer but his office we're going to put in an extra £250. Interesting is that because he's effectively therefore saying his office would buy the car off of me for £9,500 and would then sell it to their highest bidder for £9,250. An interesting business practice is that!
From the moment I invited him in to the house the experience was wholly unedifying which I wouldn't want to repeat.
Ultimately he left me with the conclusion that he was just an underhand lying piece of detritus.
And I ask the questions how accurate was their quote for a car described by their inspector as immaculate and how genuine was this guy?

Hi Brian,
Thank you for your feedback. We are aware that you and our Rep seemed to clash on the day, this is unfortunate but can happen sometimes. However, we do want to correct you on a few things:
1. Your car was the older model 2.0 td4 Ingenium engine. These are renowned for timing chain issues and most dealers will either proactively replace at a certain age and / or mileage or simply decline to buy at all. You only have to google this to establish this as a fact not an opinion. It is a manufacturing fault that Land Rover have had many many issues with.
2. It is a live auction process when with you. The bids that come in are not our bids they are the bids we have received from a vast network of Dealers. It isn't unusual for the initial bids to start lower, this is entirely normal.
3. The bids were already up to 9k before the cambelt / timing chain confusion.
4. There is a whole lot more to the SellCar process than one person. You dealt with Arthur initially and you will also have dealt with Abby and Kirsty plus whichever logistics company collected your car. You received a viewing at your home with no charge applied, you completed a sale to us with no admin or buying fees and the money was in your bank account before you released it to us, again for no fee unlike many of our competitors. We are aware that you were unhappy with the inefficiency of the Carwow process and would like to think our extremely efficient overall process stands in stark contract to this.

As a Team we are all measured by customer feedback, not just one person. We would, however, like to thank you for selling to SellCar.

Sold my car today, Kevin who came to inspect it was friendly, honest, knowledgeable and transparent. I've sold my Audi TT convertible, had lots of interest, but I feel it went to the right company. No games, just trying to give you the best deal they can.

Utter Rubbish Service

Time wasters. Spent time putting details in and then phoned as they request you do. The phone never was answered and going back on the site they want you to re-input all your details.

Avoid like the plague as they will waste your time.
Update
They contacted me on Trustpilot as seen below. but NEVER sent me a link via Trustpilot to contact them.

Thank you for your feedback. Please provide your vehicle registration number or your enquiry reference number and a member of the team will call you. Our apologies if your call has been missed.

Good to talk to you earlier Barry. As discussed, we don't buy 26 year old cars. When you enter your vehicle registration number on the site the first two pre qualifying questions are related to age and mileage and you must have ticked the wrong box. Wishing you a speedy recovery in hospital.
