Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to contact. Customers frequently encountered issues with the website and user experience, including login problems, non-functional features, and a confusing interface. The service itself was often described as unreliable, with many experiencing account suspensions or closures without notification, leading to significant inconvenience and operational challenges. Some people were dissatisfied with the company's communication regarding changes to their services, particularly when it involved pricing or account terms. However, some reviewers found the email editor UI to be convenient and intuitive, and felt that the service, despite its flaws, generally gets the job done if one understands how to use it.

Several accounts suspended for no reason

We set up a customer project to use SendGrid. We had test accounts, so we used all of that to build their system. When we went to register the customer an account, we were suspended right away.

This was the message they sent:

"We appreciate your interest in Twilio SendGrid and your efforts in completing our account creation process. After a thorough review, we regret to inform you that we are unable to proceed with activating your account at this time."

I then came here and read reviews about accounts being suspended on login if they had not logged in after several months. Curious, I tried it on an account, and bam, suspended. We have 15+ projects using different Sendgrid accounts, all paying accounts. We will be moving these away from Sendgrid in the next few weeks.

Denied access even though i have a fully registered twilio account. No explanation! Unbelievable that a big company like this allows so many 1 star experiences, but there is a reason they are getting them!

Hey, you can't go AFK!

You go on a vacation? Didn't login to my SendGrid account for a while, and they disabled my account and locked it permanently because its "marked as inactive", and they refuse to delete the account, or simply toggling the switch to unmark my account so i can actually use it. Seriously, do NOT use this garbage.

Doing this on PAYING customers is actually f***** wild

And Twilio allows this happen ?

Im not sure how this business even survives, it is a total disaster. Im a twilio customer for many years connected my business SMS with Twilio. We thought using Sendgrid makes sense, as a single provider for comms with our customers. Registered with Sendgrid using Twilio single sign on process - yeah, they made it easier, right - no hell no way, after registration and linking account - get big yellow box on top that my account is "UNDER REVIEW" and the issue is that I can not even upgrade to paid version, as upgrade button is disabled - not sure how their UX designers do still have a job ? So, can not upgrade - meaning can not call, the only way is to submit ticket via their online ticket system. Ok, submitted, waited for 2 days - got a response asking for lots of info about the business, me and etc. etc., I provided, got response back in another 2 days - claiming - "Sorry, we can not enable your account, so I need to create a new one and try again" lol ) After 11 days of explanation to them and many back and forwrad that this is my twilio account and I can not have another one, as all my systems are integrated to it, the response is "Bad luck". What a disaster service and if Twilio team would ever reads customer reviews - you gotta fix sendgrid, because you know what ? you just lost not only sendgrid, but also Twilio customer from a mid size business.

What a nightmare signup.

I have no idea what that company is trying to achieve by making the signup process so complicated, and in the end doesn't even work. All I know is that my gut tells me not to have anything to do with them.

Completely useless

Completely useless. Registered for an account, provided all of my details to simply be blocked entirely. Not even a chance to debate it. Avoid.

They mostly want your private information to sell.

These jerks should be run out of business. Soon as they discovered I am living in Asia they took all my information then denied me access. They hate Asians. It seems they are bigots and prejudiced as well as inept for losing my corporate account. I tried them two years ago and their mail service did not work and as well, they would not refund my payment. And this time they told me during the denial that they would send me an email. They are liars as well as thieves. Avoid these crooks at all cost. I warned you. I simply cannot stand stupidity and lack of interity!

Their support is beyond bad.

Totally worthless support—we had so many issues with our API sending emails, and their support is really, really terrible. I recently had a support chat call to remove an admin user who left the company, and the chat conversation lasted over one hour, and by then, we had just been able to verify my account. It is a terrible tool, and their support is even worse. I would never freely choose them again but look for alternatives.

When their IP's get blocked they won't do anything to fix it so your emails don't get through

We had been merrily using Sendgrid for about 2 years to send out our order confirmations and notifications of despatch emails.

We were on the lower tier as our email sending is low so they advised not to use the dedicated IP, so you end up on a shared IP.

After 2 years we started to get customer complaints that they were not getting order confirmations and had no idea what was going on with their orders.

After a quick investigation we found that the IP addresses used by Sendgrid were blacklisted so Hotmail, Gmail etc were not allowing emails through.

This happens, so I thought I would contact SendGrid and they could rectify the issue.

Nope, they won't.

Even though the blocking was not our fault, it was possibly another user on the shared IP, and we were paying for a service we could now no longer rely on. Their response was wait and see what happens to the IP. Well we'd waited almost a week and nothing was changing, so we were now paying for nothing.

This was our first and only issue with SendGrid and the response was very poor so we are moving elsewhere.

Horrendous product and customer service

Where do I start with this disaster of a company? I've had multiple access issues with my and fellow teammate's accounts. Invite links don't work and when they run into login issues + reset their password, they can't even log back in using the new credentials. When I reached out to support, the support agent just sent me a bunch of help articles that didn't even address the questions I was asking. When I asked if they could troubleshoot further, I was asked to raise a Zendesk ticket.

They have serious flaws with their team user access management experience. I'm an admin but I can't see basic details of previously invited users (I'm trying to delete so that I can restart the team invitation process which was broken from the start).

I accidentally navigated away from the page where the livechat was on, and now I can't even pull it back up (even though the support UI says chat is still open). It's roadblock after roadblock after roadblock with this company.

I wish we had read these reviews before signing up because had we, we would've gone with another provider right away. We are going to cancel our subscription with this company.
