Utilita Arena Cardiff - Gorillaz

Prior to doors opening: Staff did not know what event they are supposed to be controlling. None of the staff members communicated properly to each on where early access / vip ticket holders where supposed to queue. Public did a far better job at redirecting ticket holders.

When doors opened: Staff shouting orders at people to queue in small entrance hall and stay still for a long period of time (heavens forbid a person has to move a bit whilst remaining still).

During opening: Was experiencing pain with sciatica and period cramps. Asked if I sit in a quiet area to help with the pain, just told "No". Stayed near the big door exit if I needed to leave quickly, had another staff shouting to move in further.

Closing of event: asked for help to the quickest route to cloakrooms, was pointed a direction. Went said direction whilst passing several staff (noone says anything). Get to an elevator to head to the second floor to have a staff member shouting at me and my partner telling us "We are not going that bloody way. Not on my watch". When asked which way we should go to the cloakrooms he said "Not this way. Leave". Ended up finding a route to the cloakrooms in the end.

The staff that this company uses have 0 communication skills and 0 briefing of what event they are supposed to "Crowd controlling". Would rate them 0 stars.

Showsec no idea on Disability

Hello
Showec shocking lack of help David Byrne 9th March 2026
I was right side of Stage in Didabled section D
A Showsec employee at stage sat on his arse made no attempt to move people who danced stood in front of section
To even move them back into main aisle he would have to get up which he dident the whole show
I looked at him raised my hands he saw me looked straight through me I did this on a number of occasions he sat there ignoring me
I am Disabled and Autistic and it nearly kicked off on a few occasions
Myself and carer not our job to ask people to move I cannot stand
I really think you should have some understanding of Disability if Showsec place someone at right hand side of stage as you look at it from D block Disabled
I couldn't believe he just sat on his arse
It’s one a security risk a walkway being blocked and secondly his job to ensure crowd control
I am contacting Showsec he needs removing
David Byrne is playing 2 more shows the 9th Mach 26 ruined
I want Disabled people at next 2 shows getting help who like me can’t stand go in Disabled section expecting it to have security help

Waste of time in trying to get work

Don’t bother applying for this job the experience I’ve had with them have been very very rude and poor. I tried to get a job. I’ve asked my updates. They are delaying all the time and then I ring up and they saying you’ve been unsuccessful. Try again next year, but they still apply for the area if people are interested, I’ve done nothing wrong. I’ve had 20 years experience in the industry insecurity very very poor.

Attended a gig at Leeds O2 Academy…

Attended a gig at Leeds O2 Academy Friday 26th October.

I had a real concern about public safety in this building.
The gig was over prescribed and although we arrived an hour before , there seemed to be poor security with long waiting times. We were then shoe horned through double doors into the event. The band had already started

I have never felt that unsafe in my life. I could feel the weight of the crowd pushing us from the back. People literally were stood back to chest of the stranger in front.

I have never had a situation were I couldn't raise my hands up in front of my face. It was terrifying. We almost had to fight to leave within minutes of arriving, along with other people, who had similar concerns.

On reporting, and trying to escualte our worries security, we were met with excuses, passive aggression and they didn't take on our concerns. The Security managers attitude was patronising and dismissive.

I was so worried to the extent I called 999 as I seriously thought there would be a crushing incident. I am guessing they also informed the police there was no problem who did not attend.

If a fire broke out, as happened in Brixton Academy really fear injury or death.

Terrible company

Show sec work really good events , but as a door supervisor the pay is terrible, poor supervisors who treat people like a number . They just seem to recruit anyone either anyone who needs money or students fresh out of uni . So many inexperienced security staff who dont have the knowledge or know how to resolve or deal with challenging or violent behaviour. I would
Not recommend anyone work for this company when starting in the industry . Since leaving Im working elsewhere working for better companies

Seriously?

Asked for documentation multiple times, emails sent back and forth over the span of two months. What was the icing on the cake was that they wanted proof of rejection/application letters FROM FIVE YEARS AGO! Went through all their training modules and passed as well as attending online inductions just to be turned away in the end because I don’t have proof of looking for work for two months in 2020.

Absolute waste of time and I don’t know how they even get people onboard? Judging by other reviews they’ve had an awful experience too.

Very poor recruitment process ,having sat through over 6 hours of training videos,2 hours of an induction video ,fulfilling requests for uploading
5 years work ,5 year tax statements - this wasn't enough !! ,they then wanted me to upload bank statements .......and then withdrew my application without notice .
Showsec are an incredibly unproffesionable company when it comes to recruitment ,further more they are not even capable of replying to e-mails ,unfortunately i could not give them zero stars ,and feel i have dodged a bullet anyway the way they treat potential new employees .

Showsec at the AO arena are absolutely fantastic! Nothing is ever too much for them. From the guys in the car park, to the guys inside the arena I've never ever had issues here! Recently my daughter and I went to les miserables, I have limited mobility, booked row H thinking it's only a few steps....we all know it wasn't! Spoke to a supervisor who got us moved to another block front row. The guys in the car park helped find disabled parking for me. I see these guys getting so much stick for literally keeping people safe and making sure everyone has a good time, they are literally doing their job! Kindness costs nothing, if you want to be treated with kindness then treat them with kindness! #aoarena

BONGO’s BINGO LEEDS- if I could give…

BONGO’s BINGO LEEDS- if I could give this company 0 out of 5 I absolutely would! One of the WORST experiences of my life! Absolutely horrendous staff and security company, that require additional training on customer engagement and professionalism. I will be making a formal complaint against this company for the level of discrimination I experienced. I was told by the manager when I asked for an explanation to a question ‘I don’t know how much more I can dum this down for you’. Surely as an hospitality and security company, with people paying their hard earned cash to have a positive experience, the staff should also absolutely reflect this. Such a shame and as a manger/ operational manager I would not want staff working for my company of this manner, discriminating or even tarnishing the hard work of others. Shame on you and your staff. I would avoid at all costs, do not spend your money with this company. The security guards refused to give me their names and told me as public sector workers they don’t have the share their details. I was humiliated I front of their staff- who then began to group around me, on edge as if I was going to ‘kick off’. Not one person from the security team offered to help, instead turned their body cameras on and continued to be rude.

Security guard bites people

Security guard bit me and my friend for having our phones. this security guard was so weak that he had to bite us. They think they're untouchable , and have fun with the customers. Would definitely reccomend if you want dog-like security guards.

Five star help at the Roundhouse…

I recently attended a gig at Roundhouse in London at these guys were on the doors. I use a walking stick at the moment due to back and leg problems. I was expecting to queue with the queue but was taken out of the queue and moved along to an accessible route by the brilliant staff and even offered the use of a lift. I was amazed at how the team treated me with the utmost respect and dignity and what a great help they were. Thanks showsec you have put my mind at rest to attend future events.

Absolutely brilliant showsec especially Martin and Ann covering the accessibility team. The best experience from beginning to end. Could not ask for better. Even Ann was prepared to get our drinks for us. Martin offered assistance for help with disability toilets if needed. Best experience 5⭐️ Thankyou.
