Terrible billing practices and unresponsive support

Signed up for a 7-day trial and was charged nearly $300 after forgetting to cancel—totally on me. However, I reached out immediately to request a refund, and it took over a week to get a reply. Despite barely using the platform and contacting them right away, they refused to issue a refund.

This is not how a reputable SaaS company should operate. Avoid Similarweb if you value transparency and customer support.

I bet they will respond here with some boilerplate template response asking me to email their support team to resolve the issue.

I accidentally subscribed to similarweb…

I accidentally subscribed to similarweb and had a write off of 300+ euros on my account... I mailed them with my problem and they agreed to refund my money, eventough it was all my fault. Very good service and communication. :)

Dodgy AF company. Delay techniques. Anything but address the issue.

After more than a week (and they promised to get back within one business day) and a few emails to the company requesting for a refund and not hearing anything, (while i get more and faster responses on trustpilot from Similarweb which is making a feeble attempt to save their reputation with excuses like not having my email address earlier (an absolute lie - read my other review)), i finally got a response to my email. Guess what it says? "After reviewing your request, it looks like we’ll need assistance from our Billing department to address it. I’ve forwarded your inquiry to them and will update you as soon as we hear back." EXCUSE ME? I have already detailed my issue to them more than a week ago. I have also detailed my issue here. They are making it sound like they are hearing it for the first time. And now they have passed the buck to another department and we are at their mercy, as they need to "hear back". C'mon?

I was not born yesterday. First they ignore customers' request for refund (which angry customers are asking for. Why? Because they were duped into thinking they no longer had a valid subscription when they actually had one. but it was hidden from them), and Similarweb keeps ignoring these customers for as long as they can. When customer gets fed up, and comes here to complain, Similarweb responds quickly with lies. And now, after more than a week, they finally give a patronising reply to my requests made more than a week ago asking for more time.

Similarweb just want to customers to give up and forget.

I think this is how Similarweb actually makes money. From duping customers and pocketing the money when customers give up and forget.

No honour in this company at all. SCAM! don't sign up for the trial!

Can't Refund After Forgetting to Cancel Trial

I contact nearly one week after they charged me because i forgot to cancel my Free Trial. There is no lines of reminding that you can get refund after subcription is charged.

This company is a liar with worst support ever. Never use their products. They are scammed!!

Scammy

The negative reviews here are true and i should have been more careful before purchasing the subscription. Im still seeing the "Upgrate your Account" note and can't download reports even though i paid and upgraded my account. Very bad service. Ive reached out to support and not had a response in 2 days now. Ive also had a call scheduled today with a representative of theirs and they never showed up. Not happy at all with this service. I need a refund

Sneaky and fraudulent billing

I have a similar experience to some of people here regarding the billing. I entered the trial period and cancelled before it ended. I only tried it the time when I signed up. I didn't enter my card information but somehow yesterday I was charged for 1,875 USD. That's my rent for two months.

I submitted a support case and replied to their billing email immediately. But so far, no response.

I called my bank an hour ago. They said SimilarWeb charged the card via my connected email. It's fraudulent as they told me. And they will investigate how this could happen.

I really hope SimilarWeb will respond to my support requests and refund me soon. It's my bread and butter money, as a freelancer I don't have the luxury to splurge for something I don't use.

Update on March 03:
I saw that SimilarWeb replied to my review here. That's good. Thanks. But the reply is very general. As I said in my review, I have submitted a support case on Feb 28. So far no response, although they did claim to handle each support case within one business day.

Error Charge and No Customer Service/Support help

On February 25th, I was using the website for a school project and I made an account to use the free trial. I canceled the free trial to avoid a mistake charge on my account. This confused me as my account was then locked. I pressed the renew button and without a prompt or message warning me I would be charged I was charged for the full $1,500 charge. This is an error charge and I do not consent to this. I then have been calling their number everyday multiple times since this incident with a message saying, “We are not taking calls at the moment.” I also have sent emails to the support email for the company about 5 times with no response.

Update as of March 4th, 2025: I still have not received any response from similarweb outside of the response on this post which gave me the resources I’ve already been using to try and contact them.

Good product. Annoying sales

Got charged on a free plan.

I got charged on my account while I was in my 7 day trial. I did not even finish 2 days of my trial. I did not intend to purchase. Please check my usage you will know I did not use anything nor during the trial nor after. I have raised a ticket but literally no support has contacted me.

How This a Real Company?

This is the horrible you cant even compare stuff without getting a thing saying to log in i closed out these pop ups and then you get denined from the platform for like a few hours and when you get back you still get more pop ups to log in and you log behind features behind a paywall dont make something already free cost money. I advise for your company to stop begging on your knees to log in please your steps are showing almost like Temu Or a scam.

Not so happy

The data provided was not always consistent, and the industry and category rankings often contained inaccuracies, including irrelevant entries (e.g., listing gambling or fraudulent websites under the Job & Employment category) - recently I see that it was seem to be fixed. Additionally, the pricing is exceptionally high, which does not align with the quality of the service delivered.

Annoying

I'm sorry but this service is just getting worse day by day. You buy a plan and then they reduce the features you can use. And then they keep calling you to try to sell a more expensive plan. I used to like it, but it quites annoys me now so i felt the need to leave a review. If you want to increase the prices, just do it. Don't do ugly tricks.

Too many contacts either do not have…

Too many contacts either do not have updated information (email/phone) or the employee no longer works at the company. Or, when contacts do get revealed, I don’t know which sales rep had revealed the contact and when. Whenever a contact is revealed, it should auto populate who revealed the contact and the date of reveal.
