Simon Shaw was very effective at securing me a higher settlement than I’d expected and he was very easy to deal with.

I had a genuinely disappointing experience with Simpson Millar. After providing detailed information about my case and speaking with their team, my enquiry was suddenly closed without any explanation.
I received an email saying they “didn’t want to disturb me” and had therefore closed my case — despite the fact that I never asked them to stop, and I was still actively waiting for an update. I emailed back immediately asking why the enquiry was being closed, and I still received no clear answer.
For a firm that advertises professionalism and good communication, this was the opposite.
No update, no assessment, no explanation — just a closed file.
If this is how they handle initial enquiries, I worry about how they would handle an actual case. Very disappointing experience.

Polly Kerr handled our matter from start to finish. I was immediately impressed with her subject matter expertise and communication skills. I always felt like I was in safe hands, that Polly understood our situation and the best way to manage this through to a successful outcome. As an experienced law firm partner myself I could not recommend Polly more in her specialist field.

I had a great experience working with Georgina Reid. Her expertise and attention to detail were evident from our very first meeting. They provided honest, straightforward advice and fought hard to get the best possible outcome for me. If you’re looking for a firm that actually cares about its clients, look no further than Simpson Millar. Even if I would of lost this claim I would still be giving 5 star review

I spent 1.5 hours, Friday, on the phone explaining my situation and was told I had grounds to proceed. I transferred the call to my car for a journey and got cut off twice. I pulled over range back and explained I had to make my child up from school, I will be there in 15 minutes if a call back was possible. We arranged a definitive time and no call back, I waited for 10 minutes and tried to call their office, no answer at first. I picked my child up got home and called again, was told a message was sent to my advisor and they would contact me later. No call again. I waited until tried to call again and got told that a message has been sent and my advisor will call back. No call yet again. Finally Tuesday morning I received a call and spent another 1.5 hours on the phone going over the same questions I had previously answered this time to be told I don't have a case. The case isn't the issue, that is the solicitors opinion. However 3 hours to repeat myself over and over again, absolute waste of time, lack of follow through, lack of communication. Think I dodged this bullet.

Choosing the right solicitor takes time and careful research, so finding Simpson Miller was not by chance. I was immediately impressed by the many positive and reassuring reviews, as well as the clear experience and professionalism of the team.
I was represented by Charlotte Rankin within the serious personal injury department, and I cannot praise her enough. There was an extremely tight timeframe to get my case to court, yet Charlotte worked tirelessly to ensure everything was completed within that time. Throughout the process, she kept me fully informed, answered all of my questions promptly, and handled everything with professionalism and care.
Charlotte has my complete trust and respect, and I'm incredibly grateful for the support and reassurance she provided during such a stressful time. I would highly recommend both Charlotte and Simpson Miller to anyone in need of legal support.

From the beginning, it was straightforward for me to present the details of my case to allow Simpson Millar to decide whether to take it on. As I remember, at a later date a barrister reassessed the case to decide whether it should be continued. I think that that is useful.
At all times during the case, I felt that Shazia Ahmed kept me fully informed about any developments and she explained her recommendations so that I understood the best way forward. In the end I felt that the outcome was very satisfactory and I was very grateful for the work of Shazia Ahmed

From personal experience:
I expected professional engagement. Instead, I was met with total administrative failure.
Despite providing a detailed written summary with a clear admission of liability from a third party, the firm responded with generic automated emails. Their 0800 phone system is completely dysfunctional—the automated menu does not recognise keypad selections (specifically Option 2 for the triage team), making it impossible to reach a human being.
When a firm fails at the most basic level of client communication and technical accessibility, it raises serious concerns about their ability to handle complex litigation against government departments. I have formally requested they cease all contact. Professional colleagues should be wary of wasting their time here.

Both Gary Frith and Gary Rawlinson provided a professional and timely service in relation to the claim.
I was kept informed at all stages of the process and Gary Frith has contacted me promptly today with the outcome regarding the settlement figure.
The telephone meeting Gary Frith arranged with the Barrister and himself today was very professional and informative and Gary has immediately contacted the other party to negotiate the settlement. I look forward to receiving the settlement agreed.

I was assigned Shazia from Simpson Miller Solicitors for my accident claim, which began in May 2024, and I couldn’t be more grateful for her support throughout the process. From the very beginning, Shazia was professional, approachable, and incredibly supportive.
She guided me every step of the way, making sure I fully understood the process and what to expect. Her advice was always clear and focused on achieving the best possible outcome for me, which gave me a lot of confidence during what could have been a stressful experience.
Shazia was responsive, thorough, and genuinely cared about my case. Thanks to her dedication and expertise, everything was handled smoothly and efficiently.
I would highly recommend Shazia to anyone in need of a reliable and supportive solicitor.

Headline: Unprofessional, condescending, and incompetent "first contact" service.
Review:
I contacted Simpson Millar regarding a serious legal matter involving defamation, GDPR breaches (Article 16), and professional harassment. Despite providing a clear, 10-point brief outlining the legal violations, the experience was a total disaster.
The intake staff is clearly untrained and lacks the basic manners required in a legal environment. I was met with constant interruptions and a shocking lack of professional etiquette. When I tried to explain the gravity of the situation, the representative—who was raising his own voice—had the audacity to tell me to "calm down." This is the pinnacle of condescension and gaslighting, especially when dealing with a client who has a well-documented case.
If you are looking for a firm that understands "Duty of Care" or knows how to treat a professional client with respect, look elsewhere. They seem more interested in "gatekeeping" than actually understanding the legal merits of a case. A firm is only as good as its first point of contact, and currently, it feels like a call center run by teenagers who don't understand the law or customer service.
Avoid if you have a serious case and expect to be treated like a human being.

Simpson Millar helped me through a very challenging time after my Injury at my previous work space. Thankfully, with a team of highly qualified professionals at SM such as Kareemah Chunara and Amy Baker, I received first class legal advice and got a very good settlement offer for my injury which I never expected prior to meeting them. The percentage for the winning fee was also fair as they did not take more than 25%. I am forever grateful for their help and professionalism

Honestly from my first call. - the main number on the website, I am not even sure I spoke to someone at a law firm. The gentleman answered, just saying hi, and I had to claify if I was actually speaking to Simpson Millar. He sounded like he was in the middle of another task. I then explained I was seeking advice through legal aid about a potential judicial review. I was then put on hold, and then the man came back and said his manager said, they don't deal in civil cases.
To quote their wesbite, 'Our team of lawyers are very experienced in holding public authorities to account.'
This includes 'Local authorities and social housing providers'
So I'm not sure what happened there, still not sure I spoke to someone really at the firm, and apparently they don't do what they claim to do, and the guy on the phone couldn't have cared less about learning what the case actually was or who is was about.
Waste of time.
Edit: I received a prompt for more information under threat this review may be taken down if not provided. To be clear, no one can authenticate my name, email or reference when the individual did not care to ask any of that information or provide a reference. You cannot be in a system if you are not put in it in the first place.
