Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 77 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about terrible customer support, extremely long waiting times, and frustrating automated phone bots that made resolving issues nearly impossible. Many people also mentioned unexpected billing errors, unannounced monthly charges, and difficult contract terms. However, some reviewers were happy with the cheap pricing and affordable plans offered by the provider. A few individuals also pointed out that certain interactions with staff members provided genuinely helpful assistance. Despite these occasional bright spots, the overwhelming consensus remains deeply negative due to persistent communication failures and poor reliability.

Linking new sim card to existing account

The issue of trying to link a new sim card to an existing account (the original being misplaced). With no online solution to this problem, the first part of my call took 27 mins to answer, with the initial call taker being very hard to understand and slow to grasp my issue. I was then put onto another person with the phone absolutely stone silent for 2 minutes, with the original call taker then saying she was putting me through (again). I understand why the necessity for such a formal process in changing sims, this part of the call was professional and the issue was resolved in due process.

Terrible customer service

Twice I have used their overseas roaming. Foolishly. Neither time worked as it should. First time was in the USA. None of the technicians could help me. My son was able to figure the problem out and I was then able to use it. Then foolishly used it again in Aussie, same issue but what worked before did not work this time. After a lot of answered questions got a refund for the first wasted money but they refused the second time even though spent at least 10 minutes finding the answers to all their questions. Have cancelled plan.

Mobile is good - fibre customer service and communication is not good.

Skinny mobile is good and well priced.

Issue is with fibre - I called to cancel my contract as I am moving house and was advised that I just need to cancel my direct debit and remove the plan from Skinny dashboard which I did.

I then get charged the following month and call in - very long wait time of around 45 minutes.

I call then lasts over an hour of them mainly asking me who I spoke to, being put on hold so they can 'investigate'. They then say they will contact me back, about a week later, they tell me that no call happened with their team and that I will need to pay a cancelation fee - I doubt I will get refunded either.

It's like calling a scam centre in New Delhi

Call wait times take ages. Person on end of phone can't hear you because they have crappy phone headsets. Person cannot understand English. You must repeat everything you say while yelling at them. 3 emails and they still cannot set up my connection oh and they will send you an email when it is connected. Oh and if you don't have internet you can use mobile data at your own personal cost.

Seriously it is like calling a scam centre where you give out too much information. I kept asking 'why do you need to know that for?'

Not a reputable company. I wouldn't recommend them. Definitely swapping. 25 October my internet was disconnected and it's still not going

Skinny Sucks

I was trying to bring my number to this company, but their website is nothing but frustrating. When you select to switch to Skinny and to bring your number, the page resets itself and you keep going in circles. Then, when you finally get to the page where you can choose the plan, guess what? You go back to "Switching to Skinny" and you have to do it all over again. Phone calls? Sure, if you have 30+ minutes to spare and listen to a terrible music as nobody picks up the phone; and, when they do, you are kept on hold for God knows how long because I hang up after 5 minutes saying "hello" to nobody. They called back, but the attendant couldn't do much, so back to the beginning it is.
People with a neurodivergent brain like me (ADHD, combined types) CANNOT use their website because you will reach a very high level of stress and end up trying to find ANOTHER phone provider because at this point your anxiety is already screaming and you just give up in order to keep whatever is left from your sanity.
It's 4:03 pm now, so I was on the phone since 3:16pm with no success and after spending 35 minutes on the website with no luck either.

Zero customer support

Zero customer support, no one will answer your call. You're directed to a chat box, it doesn't resolve the issue it restarts the chat after a few messages. Crap, crap, crap

Misleading promotions

Switched to Skinny on a 3 month 50% discount deal. Second month in I was charged full price. They tried to tell me that the Sim card needed to be activated before it had even arrived at my house and was therefore expired. After jumping through multiple hoops they finally agreed to refund the 50% that was overcharged. Then guess what happened the third month. Full price again. Bunch of Muppets, haven't got the energy to go through it again. Misleading information and daylight robbery going on with this crowd! Wouldn't waste your time.

SKINNY SUCKS SHIT

I wish I had read the reviews before joining Skinny. Add on's that don't work, ZERO customer service, contact options that no one responds to. The list of unsatisfactory shit you have to go through is endless. Don't go SKINNY!

Questionable Business Policies

I switched to another provider and they charged me for an entire billing cycle despite the fact that the switch happened only 2 days into the cycle.
When I contacted them, they declined my refund request for the unused part. Really? I mean, I won't go bankrupt by paying a bill for something I can't even use, but I hope Skinny doesn't go bankrupt with such subpar operations.

AVOID THIS COMPANY

I've been having an absolutely terrible experience with Skinny. Their customer service is almost non existent.

It takes an hour plus to get through to a call centre in the Philippines who have no ability to help, and who's English is quite poor. The person I spoke to was quite rude then terminated the call. Their online chat is completely useless, it takes ages for them to reply to emails.

My modem broke 4 days ago and I've been without internet since then, which has been so inconvenient. I've decided it's easier to switch to another company than deal with skinny so I'll be cancelling my plan and switching. Honestly this level of service should be illegal.

Won't allow me to replace a faulty sim

After 45 mins waiting for my call to be answered and another 30 mins of support discussions they will not allow me to do a sim swap unless I test the sim on another phone for over 48 hours. How am I meant to get another phone to test for that long on? In the meantime important phone calls are dropping! Called again, same processes and long wait times...
Context: My sim keeps disconnecting on my phone and sometimes won't even connect. Other sims on my phone has no issues.... Even when swapping sim card slots. Why is testing on another device even needed?
To keep my number I have no option to change providers so I can get a reliable connection.

The moment you have to contact them

The moment you have to contact them, it becomes a very tiresome experience. I had a situation where an old credit card was reinstated and obviously meant my plan was no more and went to the standard plan. Nobody could explain why, apart from it being a glitch. Very difficult to understand the level of English that is used also... Do better skinny... At the moment you suck and I am thinking about changing to someone else
