Better the Devil You Know
If you’re thinking about swapping your Sky Q for Sky Stream make sure you’ve done your research.
Working with Sky Q is a piece of cake but the best compliment I can offer Sky Stream is that it’s clunky.
I’ve made the move now, had the dish removed and I’m stuck with my choice. I’ve always been a bit of a techy so don’t really mind figuring out how to navigate the, at times, unforgiving system.
I repeat, this is NOTHING LIKE Sky Q.
I think that the worst thing is trying to figure out where you are in a series. Unlike Netflix and because you are constantly jumping from Sky channels to BBC iPlayer to Paramount Plus etc. I sometimes find myself watching an episode of whatever only to realise I’ve seen it, so I try the next.
Confused? You will be.
I think that the idea is good but it has a long way to go before it can even compete with its stablemate, Sky Q.
Be warned
ENERGY
Shouldn't I be the one who decides when I'm using too much energy? When you start paying my energy bills then you can tell me!!!
It is flat out awful to use
It is flat out awful to use. It's one of the worst things in existence. Sky clearly hates everyone and desiged this as a form of punishment.
Appalling. This system has major software issues. Sky know it but are still selling it.
Ordered Sky streaming service and engineer turned up on due date to fit Broadband. What wasn't previously mentioned was that you have to set up TV yourself, good luck with that. I tried for two hours and went round in circles trying to configure it with no joy. Was eventually signposted to Customer Services helpline where after a twenty five minute wait I had to endure a further four hours over three phone calls to the same advisor running over the same processes which I was assured were guaranteed to work. None of them did and I was offered a new puck which would be sent out the following day. As I had two already, neither of which worked I suggested a visit from an engineer which was refused. I asked to speak with a Manager and was assured a call back, guess what I am still waiting. I called back today to an adviser who told me there are software issues with some of the pucks which is ongoing and no resolution date. Sky know this but are still promoting it. I am therefor without telly to which he replied I could watch certain web based services which I agreed was true but not really for me as I wanted to watch the cricket live. He told me I could watch it on my laptop via Sky Go so I tried, guess what it didn't work. Is everything that Sky do rubbish?

Don’t waste your time with SkyStream
Ordered sky stream worked great for about a week, then started being slow until completely stopped working. Contacted support (silly opening hours) managed to organise a replacement. Opened it up today, fired it up, WILL NOT WORK! Useless! Cancelled direct debit will not be wasting anymore time. I do not recommend sky stream.
quite possibly the wort service i have…
quite possibly the wort service i have experienced. The standard of the boxes are awful, i literally have to reset them once a week. Every time they load up they dont find connection to internet. Sometimes i have to full reset the network to do so.
Sometimes i just get a blank screen unless i restart the box.
Technical faults with the boxes most days.
This product should be nowhere near released, this looks like some new product and they are using their paying customers as beta testers.
This will be the last i ever use of sky
Sky stream just doesn’t work
This product just doesn’t work and what’s worse is, they know it.
I never found the interface as bad as others have but all of the apps are accessible on any smart tv.
The problem is live tv. What began as pixelated pictures eventually became the least of my worries as I started to just get solid black screens. Tended to be when watching sport or anything in high demand. Add to that the constant audio issues with the sound either being in front or behind the picture with no consistency - all channel dependant.
They did a factory reset and said this would fix it. It obviously didn’t so three days later I was sent a new puck. The new puck had decent picture when I finally managed to connect it to my tv. Same cables in same position but whenever it went into standby, the only way to reconnect it to the tv was disconnect the mains and start again.
Sky are awful to deal with and it’s never their fault. Even when calling to complain you end up speaking to someone who is always trying to sell - new mobile package, sky glass etc which only annoys us more. They even tried fobbing off the new pucks issues to internet connection, despite it being nothing to do with that and was the supply from puck to tv.
Finally managed to speak to someone who was honest and they basically admitted that it’s not anywhere near where it should be. Managed to get out of my contract without penalty. Keep pushing and you’ll eventually get there.
All in all, this thing just doesn’t work and sky are getting worse and worse at customer care.
Absolute shambles of a service
Absolute shambles of a service. I’ve been with SKY for 15 years and was previously very happy with SKY Q. I’m now exceptionally unhappy and exasperated with the service. Constantly having to reset pucks, remotes not working, can’t connect to my account. The service should never have been launched. A joke of a product
Advised by curries that sky glass and…
Advised by curries that sky glass and sky pucks were the way forward however I’ve had nothing but connection issues can’t watch TV and sky helpline are useless, they tell me I can’t get out of my contract but surely if their product doesn’t do what it should then why should I continue to pay for a rubbish service avoid sky at all costs
Absolutely rubbish always loading or…
Absolutely rubbish always loading or going off!
Can’t record anything can’t fast forward adverts unless you pay extra!
Give me back my Sky q any day
Had sky q for 9 years but didn’t gave a dish in my new property so was advised to get stream
If I could cancel today I would 😫
The worst app
Constantly buffering despite very fast Internet. All other apps work fine.
Catch up never works
Program guide is rarely correct and often shows two completely different times for the same program.
This is as bad as Now TV also Sky
It's hard to be constructive because…
It's hard to be constructive because this service is honestly crap. I am now paying £91 a month that my mum gets for free on Freeview. They make it impossible to cancel so hope you have better luck than me. Now going with a Freeview recording box.
Sky Stream is terrible
Sky Stream is terrible. I get black screens that go nowhere, if I record a film on a free channel and then go to watch it, i get directed to Sky Store where I would have to pay to watch it. Regularly freezes throughout watching a programme. My broadband is fine for everything else so no excuses for sky being so bad.
How I wish I did a "Sky Stream review"…
I've nothing new to add to the 1 star reviews already posted, but I'll list them again just to vent:
-For any non-Sky program you'd like watch at a later date or time, Sky Stream redirects you to the third party streaming app. Why would I pay Sky to open the BBC iPlayer for me?? I am able to find it and open it myself for free.
-Pay extra to fast forward ads. Even if you pause the program and let some time pass, you still can't fast forward through the ads when they come on. Sky obviously put a lot of effort and resources into ensuring the misery of ads continues. Why am I paying a subscription to suffer ads at the same frequency as a non-subscription?? It's a £6 per month shakedown for the privilege to fast forward ads.
-Lip sync issues
-Doesn't work with Amazon TV or Amazon soundbar. Had to set it up with my 10 year old TV.
-Pause function in live TV seems to have a will of its own. Don't make the foolish assumption your program will still be paused when you return to it, and good luck trying to rewind it to the place where you initially paused it, more often than not, it doesn't work.
-Adding a program to your playlist adds a series which then redirects you to the third party app.
-I feel I've been mis-sold a product. I didn't see any mention in promos about how heavily it uses third party streaming apps.
An awful product. The more I use it, the more disappointed I am.
Sky stream is a step backwards at this…
Sky stream is a step backwards at this time.Seems rushed. My sky stream constantly cuts out for no reason.I’ve tried literally everything to rectify this, to no avail.
Do not get Sky Stream!!
New to Sky and beyond disappointed. UX is terrible, playlists are terrible, stability issues - glitches on other apps, TV > Remote compatibility issues. Labelling of shows are inaccurate, it takes ages to load even with super fast broadband. So disappointed.
All sorts of issues
All sorts of issues. Blue screen, jumps all over the place. Adverts you can’t skip, don’t move to sky stream/puck.
Rubbish, Rubbish, Rubbish!!!!!
I absolutely agree with every other comment on this thread. Do not waste your money, the service is not fit for purpose regardless of having a mega fast internet speed. I have experienced most of the frustrations as the other commenters and as soon as my 12 month contract is up in August, I'll be moving to Virgin cable. Equally frustrating is trying to speak to someone in the call centre who actually wants to help, or someone in the shopping centre as they're equally as unhelpful. Don't touch with a barge pole!!!
Moved to Skystream following Freesats…
Moved to Skystream following Freesats disasterous upgrade.
Very happy with Skystream, it all works fine. Only had one lipsync issue, resolved by removing the power.
I see many negative reviews, fortunately not our experience.
A downside is the inability to record, you set playlists instead to be able to catchup on programs. This functionality seems to be a bit trial and error.
