I have been happy using Soverin for 2…

I have been happy using Soverin for 2 years now - mainly because I need stronger privacy assurances than the big guys can guarantee. Only twice have I run into tech problems, both related to compatibility issues with third party providers. Both times Soverin stepped up - a reply came quickly, from a human, and follow up was swift, until the problem was solved. Its refreshing to see a tech company take an interest!

Solid, affordable, professional email provider

It's only been a week but I've been fairly impressed with Soverin's email offering. It offers many of the features found in other services at an affordable price. I've been *very* pleased with their responsive, personal, and professional customer service when I had onboarding questions about features. Transferring DNS records was very straightforward and I was up and running pretty quickly, too.

The only negatives I've found so far is that the web interface takes some getting used to (I actually like one of their two web interfaces better) and noticed that if you're using IOS Mail, you will only get mail notifications / checks every 15 minutes since Apple Mail stupidly still doesn't support IMAP IDLE ...so it's not Soverin's fault! (That could be a deal-breaker for some if you need email notifications more quickly, though.)

Integrating with 1Password or other password managers would be great. But to their credit, Soverin is doing email and not trying to shove AI capabilities down our throats like so many other providers. They seem to be focusing on their core service, which is refreshing,

On the whole, as I continue testing the service, my experience with Soverin has been solid and there are so far no red flags to complain about.

Moved email provider from Google to…

I moved email provider from Google to Soverin.
Would not be overly familiar with Managing DNS records, SPFs and the likes.
Soverin provided great support with the process and got me going again.
Happy to move two other email accounts over to them now. Definititely recommend

EXIT SCAM ( UPDATED)

Initially, I thought this was a scam or an exit scam. However, after 4-5 days, they’ve finally resolved the issues, and I’m updating my review to 3 stars. I hope they improve their support and that the service remains stable moving forward.

Update.

We’re glad the issue was resolved. We were able to trace this review back to a support ticket submitted last Friday. Unfortunately, the ticket initially lacked some key information our team needed to assist. As noted in our Terms & Conditions, we’re closed during the weekend. That said, we believe the issue was resolved through good collaboration once communication resumed. Thank you.

We’re unable to trace your comment to any existing support ticket. Could you please email us at hello@soverin.net and reference your ticket number, if available? We’ll do our utmost to resolve any issue you may be experiencing.

We kindly ask that you refrain from making threats. We believe this approach is neither fair nor legitimate.

Thank you for your understanding

More than a month to register a domain (still no email)

I ordered an email service and a domain name a month ago, which still hasn’t been enabled. First the support team told me there were issues with registration of some ccTLDs, but the message now is that “Long processing times are not abnormal…”

More than a month. I have requested an expected timeline, or to just see the responses from the registry partner several times, but have been denied. So it’s in limbo, with no email or domain to speak of so far.

If you need a simple email on a domain you own, Soverin is fine, but i would not recommend it for friends/family or the like who need a domain aswell.

Dear Ask,

We’ve repeatedly urged the domain registrar to respond, but unfortunately this matter is beyond our direct control. We’ve made our concerns clear to them and are pushing for a swift resolution.

As a reminder, we only resell custom domains, and this is the first time we’ve encountered such a persistent issue. We sincerely apologize on behalf of the registrar.

Kind regards,

Reseller experience : not there yet

Really promising - but not there yet. I subscribed to their reseller services because I was looking for a great European email provider to sell to my clients.

The on-boarding process alone took more than two weeks before my account was open.

My main issues with the software :
- To pay I need to make a monthly manual SEPA transfer with a different amount depending on my usage. This is not sustainable as a business : either do SEPA direct debit or credit card.
- I can't monitor my client's storage usage BUT I am billed for said usage. How can I bill my clients back ?

My issues with the team :
Although very kind, everything takes a lot of time which does not inspire confidence.

It's clear the product has a LOT of potential, but it's not finished.

We're using Soverin for our business and it's great!

Almost more than a year ago we made the switch to Soverin to accommodate our company e-mail and it's been a blast ever since, moving from a full fledged platform including documents, calendar, videomeeting (using Jitsi) to something more concise has made our life easier. This lifted the restriction of not being able to send e-mails to our selves from a contact form, added a calendar that not just randomly resets once in a while... Amazing!

SOVERIN IS THE BEST, PERIOD.

Bro i don't get how this people talking trash stuff here like that.

First of all: Soverin is AWESOME for a few simple reasons.

OK about the downtimes no service is perfect, some advantages to some, and disadvantages to others

But FOR ME personally: 2 Points make them BEST EMAIL SERVICE EVER.

I don't need to look back to that S*****Y and GREEDY as******s from PROTONmail anymore that want to charge your a** for adding additional custom domains and aliases, while limiting your capabilities on the identities allowed, as well to just 15 (what a big f***** joke what am i doing with 15 identities man ?) it was burned above quota, in a single day !

So for this TWO REASONS: NO CAPS ON ALIASES AND CUSTOM DOMAINS, soverin is then BY FAR the best service as CLOSEST to the old and UNBETABLE '' CTEMPLAR '' as one can get, man !

So all this people talking trash here SHOULD RESPECT THEM = FOR THIS SINGLE REASON ALONE.

Also another thing: What's the problem of running a business ALONE ?

I run around 5 online business and ALL ALONE and i handle my customers just fine, accross ALL THE FIVE BUSINESS i'm owner off, just as well.

Absolutely no problem with that, it just shows that you are a HARD WORKING INDIVIDUAL who's well motivated and well energized enough to handle several things at once, and do proper+well done time management, in your life.

So this people should respect Soverin and regard it as THE BEST one by far, for this 2 reasons i mentioned alone !

Because after the down-fall of ctemplar, we cannot have UNLIMITED ALIASES and CUSTOM DOMAINS
pretty much = ANYWHERE, anymore, out there.

So, my respects to soverin for this 2 single reasons alone.

Very satisfied with the service.

Very satisfied with the service.
I have all the features I wanted (catchall, spam filters, mail redirection, filtering rules, etc.) at a reasonable price.
Support works to resolve issues.
Only two small negative points: the interface is not completely translated into English and is divided into two spaces (webmail and management) but a new interface in beta version is being deployed seems to merge them.

Awesome promise. Bad communication.

I was crazy about Soverin at the start. Small, affordable, private email hosting directly from Europe sounded great.

Their mail service isn't 100% reliable in the sense that it's offline a bit more than those of the big companies - a couple of times a year a few hours of downtime tend to happen. That I can live with; it's a matter of patience and learning on their side and I don't think I've ever lost a message, just received it a bit later.

Their admin panel is quite bad and should have been improved years ago. It's had the same bugs and missing translations for months now, if not years. They had a better one before but chose to revamp and then seemingly lost grip on quality control.

Maybe they did perform improvements or bug fixes to the admin panel, but there'd be no way of knowing because Soverin, even though it's an email company, does not send out any type of service updates to their customers by email, not even planned downtime announcements, except sometimes through Twitter so if you're not a regular Twitter user, tough luck being prepared for their downtime.

Their customer communication in general has gone from ok to bad over a couple of years. You can't call them, you can only tweet them or email them.

So get this: you are paying for an email service. You have an email problem. Now what do you do? You can't email them. So you're forced to tweet them, and _hope_ they get back to you. If you didn't have a Twitter account yet, good luck activating the new account that was forced upon you without having access to your mailbox..

Messages used to be answered quickly but they are now taking days to respond, and often they don't really answer the question.

Soverin was a wonderful promise but as a customer for a couple of years, I've seen a steady decline and I'm personally convinced these are signs the company won't be around in its current form for much longer. I completely agree with the assessment in a different review that says it seems Soverin is being run by a single individual from an attic pc.

I'm sad to see a company with a good idea fail, but I'm glad I no longer depend on them for my email needs.

This was a service I really wanted to like…

This was a service I really wanted to like based on price/services offered/philosophy/aesthetics of website etc.
Sadly I never got a chance to fully experiences their mailbox as I couldn't login to their webmail for whatever reason. Contacting support for help and had no reply followed by further contact few days later and after still no response decided to cancel.
At this stage I had resigned to the fact I wont get my money back. One week later I got a response back and they kindly did issue my refund.

I have no idea if their mailbox was any good but by this time I had lost confidence and didnt want a service with poor support especially as a new customer.

Wanted to transfer 2 domains to them non of them succeeded.

I have the feeling this company is run on someones attic on a home pc. And only one person is doing the helpdesk and maintenance. And I don't even have a problem with this but when this person is offering super low prices and so doesn't want to spend much time on helpdesk you might want to fix stuff so that it works, and it didn't, not even the automatic refund..
The short period I tried to use the website it was down multiple-times. They even failed in recognizing an expired transfer code. And let me wait 2 weeks for nothing. (and didn't even apologize) This resulted in that I had to extent my old registrar for another month. The refund was only issued after I went complete ballistic on Twitter and publicly called them out for not giving me my refund.
So they get 2 stars because I got my refund eventually. For the rest nothing worked, not even my mail of the domain that got wrongly setup.

Refund was never issued. They just kept the money

Interface is not very intuitive at all. Many parts have not been translated to english. Also after cancelling my subscription according to the guidlines to get a refund I have never received a refund. Support has only been stalling. In the end, after months of asking they just kept the money.

Reliable and privacy-focussed, but missing some features

Soverin.net is a dutch email service provider, recommended by Bits of Freedom (a dutch digital rights foundation). I have been using them for a few months now and I've been very happy with them. I even moved my family's email over to their service.

I love the fact that they remove information like the IP address and device hostname from email headers. I also love that I can link an unlimited amount of domain names, forwards, groups (multi-person forwards) and aliases to my account. Additional inboxed are only 6€/year. I have also found their services to be reliable and fast.

Even though I'm very positive about Soverin, they also lack some important features. They for example don't offer true two factor authentication, with the current implementation only working in the Roundcube interface. This means both IMAP and the account management panel are both unprotected, making it basically useless. (we’d see this last Q1, it's still not here though...).

There are also a few small 'annoyances', like the percentage of space used is still 0.0%, even though it has been about 5% for a few months now (baed on the emails I've imported). I also miss push notifications in the default iOS mail app, but nearly no one else has this.

I would recommend Soverin to anyone looking for a good, honest, privacy-respecting email provider with support for important security features such as DANE, DKIM etc. Whilst they're not there yet in terms of some other (important) features, I feel like they do have the right priorities and are very trustworthy. I am very much looking forward to how this company is going to develop.
