Bad costumer service
Came into spark shop (N.P. Devonstreet) to buy a Nokia 2660 Flip Back phone, service agent VERY unhelpfull, when asked whether the phone was "predictive texting", got answered: "Oh i don't know", and not help full with answering a few other questions relating to the new phone., was this because it was a "cheap phone"??
SPARK, WORST COMPANY EVER!
Yup, that's SPARK! Worst customer service ever. 5 days now without internet at my place. All they do is push you from one department to another, nobody seems to know what they are doing. Was told to even buy a new modem, yet no internet.
Yesterday I got a text saying that maybe the issue might be resolved Monday or Tuesday! Really for such a big company it takes a week to sort an issue?????
Pay to listen to voicemail
$park will charge you to listen to your voicemail, WTF!?!
I have a trauma bond with spark hackers…
I have a trauma bond with spark hackers and their staff in Christchurch especially northlink and the palms Shirley and now the airport branch and the girls on moorhouse ave business branch due to being stalked by an Indian looking jay etchels lookalike then he proceeded to try run me over trying to get up on the grass from the kerb in his red car. They are obviously instigators, non helpful, stalkers very difficult cruel mean hackers however I get Netflix unlimited data when it does work and McAfee which doesn't work and all for $70 a month. Plus all hore ra from PDS lawyers my old neighbor lives at new Brighton house stalking me with her smorgasbord of rock hard d$ck "johns" who in my opinion is a psychopath and instigated lies violence trauma on my son's unnecessarily for coming up 13 years! She's hopefully banned from Australia now after trying to make money on the chase Australia! How about you hack her internet instead of mine! So your review can move up to five stars. And all the evil corrupt police officers here by jelly park and that side by Hornby etc???
Do not use spark if you plan on moving…
Do not use spark if you plan on moving overseas permanently.
They are absolutely impossible to get a hold of. I have been trying to cancel my subscription/plan since January. Two seperate service members said “ok, I’ll do that”. But no cancellation and I still get billed. I live overseas, so it’s impossible to communicate with the slow “chat” function being bounced between 1000000 service people and no number to call from overseas regarding this issue.
How can they improve? Scrap the chat function. Allow for email correspondence, allowing 1 key person per “case”.
Or even better, let people cancel the plan/subscription themselves through the app.
Such a bad customer experience at spark…
Such a bad customer experience at spark lynmall branch, girls is so rude, (maryll) don’t even know how to talk to customer, she said something bad in different language, worse customer experience ever, I would prefer to gave 0 star if there’s a option.

On Jolly made our dayMarch 27 we needed to get another…
On March 27 we needed to get another Sim card for one that was lost while visiting Australia We were fortunate enough to be served by Jolly at The Palms SPARK store in Christchurch.
My heart usually sinks whenever I have to go to a Phone store but on this occasion the service, understanding of our need, and positive attitude of Jolly was beyond reproach.
The Store had five or six older people in it at the time and as far as I could tell none of us had a lot of knowledge about modern technology.
I could understand that this could drive the assistants a bit bonkers but endless patience was shown by Jolly to us for which we were very grateful.
We deserve better. Deplorable Service.
In the digital age, fast internet isn't just a luxury; it's a necessity. Yet, here I am, a five-year customer of Spark, trapped in a time warp of sluggish speeds that would have been outdated a decade ago. Despite subscribing to Spark's "Max Fibre" plan, which advertises blazing speeds of 891 Mbps download and 501 Mbps upload, the reality is a stark contrast. Actual speeds? A dismal 3.41 Mbps download and 2.45 Mbps upload. It's less "Max Fibre" and more "Max Frustration."
The saga of my internet woes is a long one, involving countless hours spent over months navigating Spark’s troubleshooting protocols. I've engaged with multiple tech support agents, all outsourced to the Philippines, who walk me through the same tired steps, none leading to any resolution. The amount of time spent on the phone and using their app for troubleshooting adds up to an exorbitant number of hours that I'll never get back, all in a futile attempt to just get what I pay for. This week alone, I've spent 193 minutes on the phone, made two visits in-store, and had a router replacement for one that was purchased less than a year ago.
Even the technicians, both over the phone and the one who visited to install a high-end TV requiring the internet speeds I’ve PAID Spark for, have admitted the routers are subpar. The TV tech tested the speeds, shook his head in disbelief, and confirmed that the Spark router wasn't delivering even half of what it should. This wasn't just an isolated incident; it was a pattern, one that the phone techs recognized and reported back to Spark. Yet, there's been no action, no plan, no urgency to rectify the issue.
Half-measures, like covering half the cost of a Mesh network that might mitigate their service shortfalls. But why should I pay more to fix a problem that isn't mine? After all these hours, all this loyalty, and all the money spent, the least Spark could do is provide a service that meets the baseline of their own promises.
After Chorus denied the request for an on-site visit, Spark has refused to take further action, effectively leaving me to deal with these unacceptable speeds. I've requested a call from a local technician/rep to hopefully address the problem, and we'll see how that pans out. Knowing the luck I have had, Casper the ghost is more likely to show up.
Spark's indifference to resolving these issues is not just disappointing; it's unacceptable. Their customer service model seems designed to wear you down, to make you give up and accept less than you deserve. But why should we settle for mediocrity in an economy where every dollar counts, and every minute online matters? In 2025, with technology at the heart of everything we do, having a reliable internet connection isn't just about streaming or gaming; it's about being able to work, learn, and connect without barriers.
So, Spark, here's the feedback you need to hear: your customers are not just numbers. We are people relying on your service to participate in a digital-forward world. Your 1.4-star Trustpilot rating is a reflection of your service's impact on real lives. It's time for Spark to step up and deliver, or step aside for those who will. And to anyone else feeling stuck in this connectivity limbo, maybe it’s time to look elsewhere. We deserve better. We deserve what we pay for.
Tried to move my account from OneNZ to Spark
Tried to move my account from OneNZ (who were dire) to Spark. After two days nothing. Almost impossible to contact (and this is a communications company). Eventually told I had to be subjected to a 'manual check'. By the close of business still nothing but bot generated platitudes. Cancelled the purchase. Signed with Two Degrees. All done, new account opened, number transferred and esim delivered in an hour. Feeling I've got away lucky from a company that knows nothing about customer service.
A comms company that doesn't like communicating
I'm going away on holiday for 3.5 months. Do I cancel my subscription or will Spark put it on hold? Cancel and go away and don't come back is their business plan. Stupid? I think so. In order to do this you have to get into a to and fro on text messaging. What is wrong with talking to me, I have to ask. The process took 36 minutes. I'm sure if I had been talking to their agent we could have dealt with it in under 15 minutes. Wasteful of their staff time and mine.
A company that really has lost its Spark.
Spark really is not a company worth dealing with anymore as all they do is sell phones. The concept of after sales service has completely deserted them. The fact that their shareprice has dropped 54% in the last year would indicate a service model failing spectacularly. I cannot see myself ever renewing our plan when it comes up for renewal.
Scam rip off 2nd time
Second time happened already, that they put my data/calls/txt on hold for no bloody reason when i had 100% sure heaps of use of them. They try to force you to buy more extra mins or data. There is no notification about it that ny credit running low, you just realize it all sudden that you can't use your phone. I am in a urgant situation right now where i really need to make a call, but i can't. What if it is a real emergency?? Bloody useless and unreliable. And the custer service... through What'sapp?!? What is going on?! Are you serious? Or book a phonecall appointment 2 days later? What i am suppose to do until than?
First time it happened they told me to turn off and back on my phone to fix the problem? WTF?
Sick of this shit, so i am swapping to O2. Bye shitty Spark

Absolutely Horrible Customer Service
Absolutely Horrible Customer Service - Unprofessional and Incompetent
I have never experienced such terrible customer service in my life! Spark is by far the worst company I have dealt with. The call center is a complete joke. No one answers the phone, and when they do, they just keep sending you in circles, telling you to send a message instead of actually speaking to a person who can help you solve your problems. It’s incredibly frustrating.
Even worse, the people in the call center can barely speak English, making it nearly impossible to understand what they say. I had to endure conversations where I could barely comprehend what was being said, and I was left without any solutions to my issues.
Trying to go to a Spark store is no better. When my plan, Wi-Fi, and mobile calls were deactivated, even though I had paid all my bills on time, they couldn’t help me at all in-store. Instead, they told me to call the same number where no one ever picks up. They then wanted me to pay an additional $87 to reactivate something they shut down without even notifying me through email or message.
Today, I even politely asked if they could call me back. I left my name, phone number, and all the details, but the woman I spoke to never bothered to contact me again. Completely unprofessional!
To make matters worse, the store in Auckland couldn’t care less about helping me. All they were interested in was closing as quickly as possible and getting rid of me. No effort was made to resolve my issue or even try to be helpful.
The worst part is when I was stranded in the middle of nowhere, unable to make calls or access the internet. When I finally got someone on the phone, they told me to contact my freaking mum to get my account number. My mum?! How unprofessional can you be? How can you ask a customer for such personal information, especially when you have no idea where my mum is or if I even have one? It’s completely disrespectful and beyond ridiculous.
If you’re considering Spark for anything, DO NOT. Save yourself the headache, time, and frustration. This company is completely unprofessional and completely incapable of handling customer issues. They don’t care about their customers at all.
