Today, I visited the Spark shop at Manukau City. I must say the young man I saw was very helpful and helped to sort out my phone and clean it up for me. Well done. The service was great even to ensuring that I was sitting comfortably and safely

Terrible service

Terrible service. I am overseas for the last 5 months. And yes as the customer I haven’t canceled my account.

For the last 4 months I haven’t received any bills. So I have no idea how much I should pay. More over for some reasons they also canceled my account and I want able to pay/ check my bill.

And when I finally received letter from dept company they haven’t got any info and asked me to contact spark.

The manger was rude and just blaming me that I was just my fault , more over he said I have purchased roaming and I need to pay for it about 300$.

He finally provided all 4 bills.

Terrible company, won’t recommend to any one.

Big money for crap service

To look 3 days & 5 different people & multiple times explaining the issue I wanted fixed to finally get a result & on top of that I couldn't understand 3 of the 5 people as there English was terrible.

Absolutely Terrible Experience with Spark

I honestly can’t believe how bad Spark’s customer service and policies are. I paid for the month until the 15th, planned to leave the country on the 8th, and asked them to close my account. But instead of offering any kind of flexibility or understanding, they tell me I have to pay for an entire extra month, even though I won’t be using the service at all! And that’s just because of their ridiculous 30-day notice period. This is absolute theft.

I’ve had similar situations with companies before (like Optus in Australia), where they understood the situation, closed my account immediately, and even refunded me for the days I wouldn’t use. But no, Spark just doesn’t care and sticks you with extra charges for no reason.

I’ve explained everything, and they still insist I have to pay for the whole next month. Honestly, I’d expect more from any company in 2025—this is beyond frustrating and feels like they’re just trying to milk you for more money. I’ll never recommend Spark to anyone. Avoid them if you can!

Worst Possible Customer Service Ever

Seems to be impossible to remove a service from my account. It's been five days now of using their messaging service and nothing has been resolved. They ask for the same confirmation information over and over again. If I could give this company a zero I would. All I am trying to do is remove my late mother's cellphone from the Spark account ... you would think that was an easy request but no ... seriously considering changing providers but not sure others are any better. Just let me talk to a real person!

Above and Beyond

I went in for a new phone and have put it off as I find many assistants condescending as I'm no technowizz. However I struck lucky with Mithun at Silverdale who went above and beyond to get me up and going and all data transferred across to my new phone. He treated me with respect and spent time ensuring I was able to use my phone and get all photos etc available. Very happy customer :-)

Absolutely atrocious customer service…

Absolutely atrocious customer service time and time again. Possibly 1 of the worst businesses I have ever had to deal with. Took 4months to connect my fibre after taking payment and telling me it would be done within 2-3 weeks. Very slow connection initially being well under the plan I was being charged for and every time I try to contact someone Im either put on hold so long I hang up or they dont answer at all, been waiting for a response for 2 days now. I would strongly suggest to anyone who has other options available to avoid anything to do with Spark NZ.

Purchased roaming packs to use in Australia they did not work ended up purchasing a Vodafone SIM card no way to call or contact them and no chat it available on their website hopelessness on returning to Nz will be switching all my services to another provider

"Absolutely the Worst Service

"Absolutely the Worst Service – Will Never Use Spark Again"

This is hands down the worst service I have ever experienced. Starting from last week, I contacted Spark to resolve an issue, and it has been nothing but a disaster ever since. Let me explain why Spark deserves this 1-star review (not even worth a start).

Last week, I spoke to a representative, a woman whose name I don’t recall. She promised to call me back before January 22nd because that was my payment due date. I waited for days, but no one called me back. Frustrated, I called Spark again and spoke to Louis. He assured me that everything was sorted and promised to send me a confirmation email that same day. Guess what? No email arrived.

A few days later, I called yet again. This time, another representative picked up. I explained the story/situation that I had already discussed everything with Louis, and the matter was supposed to be resolved. Don’t they record calls for "quality assurance" like they always? After an unnecessarily long back-and-forth, they promised me that Louis would call me back. This was at 9 AM.

By 3 PM, no call. I called again, and they assured me Louis would call within 10 minutes. At this point, I even said, “Are you sure? This is already the serveral times I’ve been told this. Are you lying again?” I was reassured, but once again, no call ever came. Not that day. Not the next.

This isn’t just poor service—it’s blatant disrespect for customers. Instead of solving the issue, they gave me the runaround, broke promises, and showed zero accountability. Louis, in particular, repeatedly lied to me, and Spark’s follow-up process is nonexistent. It’s like they just hope the customer will give up.

I’ve spoken to my lawyer about this because I am seriously considering legal action. This level of incompetence and negligence is unacceptable. Spark’s customer service is a complete joke. They don’t care about their customers, they ignore complaints, and they don’t honor their commitments. If you’re considering using Spark, take this as a clear warning: DON’T. Save yourself the frustration.

Spark, you’ve lost my trust completely. Your team should be ashamed. This is the absolute worst service I have ever encountered.

Hidden charges every month

Hidden charges every months, you get a very small amount of data for your money and once it runs out you have no connection at all (even though they claim you’ll just have a slower connection). Terrible overseas packs ($25 for 2GB) and if you’re not careful the data pack won’t be valid in the country you’re going to and they will charge you hundreds of dollars without you knowing. Feels super scammy. Also their app don’t work if you run out of data so you can’t buy more unless you find wifi. I canceled my contract recently (moved to One NZ) and I got a final bill that included a charge for text messaging? I don’t know what’s going on but I urge you to stay away, I’ve lost so much money to spark.

Leaving spark after being with them for 10+ years
Spark increased prices of mobile plans right before Christmas with no announcement to customers. Increased all prepay plans by $1 but didn’t make the option available to top up $21 ect. For a $21 plan you now need to top up by $30 and so on for the other plans. Absolute rip off.

The Proverbial Runaround.

Useless. I have been getting the proverbial runaround. I contacted the Spark customer service line to report a problem with my mobile phone. The SIM card had become obsolete, so I could not use it. It was giving me the message that I could make emergency calls only. I was told I needed to go to a Spark retail outlet to proceed. The store could not fix the problem, so they sent me back to the customer service number, where I had to re-explain the problem. I was told I could speak to a supervisor to escalate the problem. I agreed to that. They were supposed to call me back in an hour. No call was received. I got in touch with customer support again. They then patched me through to technical support. They had no knowledge of the issue, so I had to re-explain the problem yet again. On and on it has gone, and I still have a non-functioning mobile phone. The left-hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at Spark. Useless. I am completely fed up. I will be cancelling my contract.

I lost my roaming access 2 days after…

I lost my roaming access 2 days after going overseas. Spark NZ were unable to help me after 2 weeks of messages back and forth I had it fixed at a tech shop and Spark refused to refund me even though they admitted they were unable to help me.

Have you seen the movie ..

Have you seen the movie Groundhog Day? Dealing with Spark is just like that. I’ve just wasted a whole day of my life trying to resolve a simple issue. Messaged with 5 different people- all basically polite but seem unable to actually do anything. I think they just hope you’ll give up and go away.
I’ll try again tomorrow.
