ABSOLUTE RIPOFF! BEWARE!

I should have done some more research and check other quotes before using these guys but I found them through a google search last year because I lost all power to my flat because of a faulty fridge.

As it was 10pm on a weekday and I had work the next day (I work from home) and I had lots of frozen food I didn't want to spoil. I went for the first company I found and they sent these guys.

They made me sign an electronic form quoting me £408 ex VAT for fault finding and then a further £350 ex VAT for the fixing. I didn't query it at the time but in my gut I knew something was off about those prices.

They eventually replaced the sockets in the kitchen and got power back up but I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd just been ripped off for months after. Only recently did I actually do some analysis through Claude and various other AI tools to get some quotes for the work based on the report they gave me and I also validated this by asking other Electricians for quotes for that kind of work. I ended up paying £909 total in the end and it should have been at least half that price for that kind of work even for out of hours callout and London prices.

I emailed them to justify the costs as the itemised receipt just shows two items: "Callout charge + Fault finding" and "Rectification work to fix fault and re energise faulted circuit". There's no breakdown of what actually goes into each of those costs just a quantity of 1 against each of those items. They have just completely fobbed me off and ignored my emails.

Be warned these guys are absolute scammers so if this review helps stop one person getting ripped off then I will have done my job.

I'm looking into legal action now.

If I had read all these reviews from other customers at the time then I could have avoided this but hindsight is 20/20 so you if you're reading this then avoid these guys like the plague.

Laughable

Laughable! Had an appointment at 10:30 this morning, they didn’t show up until 12:20. Tried charging £420 for new light socket and then when I questioned the price it went to £220. Absolutely ridiculous. Call out fee of £47 wasn’t discussed on the phone either! Shabby

Called out for an emergency

Called out for an emergency. Quoted £57 on the phone only to find out when they attended it was another £400 plus VAT for them to even investigate (definition of call out fee it to attend and diagnose). Very minor issue they were here less than 40 minutes. After some research learned this should be ~50% of the cost. Wish we turned them away, use with caution.

You will get ripped off by these cowboys electricians

Seriously no one should be using this company. We had a faulty socket which wasn’t working. We called sparky4u to come and check and was quoted £260 over the phone as it was an emergency call out. However, they came the day after on a Tuesday at approx 3pm. £260 to change a socket? Doesn’t make sense. Anyway, when I had come to check the work they had done (my sibling had arranged them to come in the first place), I realised they didn’t even change the entire socket. They just changed the face plate. Not only this but each time we used this socket the whole power cut out at the consumer unit repeatedly. So I decided to check myself and I was disgusted to see that they didn’t even wire the socket plate properly- and the earth cables were not even sleeved.

So I decided to call the main number to see what’s happening, they said there was no recollection of coming to our property. When checking the invoice too it says “MM electrical and security”. So now I’m confused, is it sparky4u or MM? Anyway we got through to the electrician who came called “Saff” or “Seff”, I asked him whether he sleeves the earths etc and he said on the phone “of course I did”. When I replied saying that I checked and they weren’t sleeved he said he will come “later” as he is going football. He sounded young and possibly an apprentice.

Then we got through to a man called “Tommy”, I spoke to him over the phone and he seemed more reasonable and said he will give me his “personal” number. However, when he messaged on WhatsApp from this number it is registered as a business (not so personal after all).

Long story short after many attempts of contacting Saff/Seff, we got a partial refund of £140 and they said that’s the best we can do.

In all honesty this company made the situation worse and took advantage of my siblings ignorance of electrical knowledge. Charging £260 to change a face plate?!

I personally also think they are using multiple limited companies to reduce their tax liability but their excuse is they are “sub contracting” to other companies.

This company needs to be investigated and shut down asap because these people are absolute frauds….you will get ripped off by these cowboys if you get them to do your electrics.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY charged £712.80 for a 5 minute job replacing a fried socket. Been told by many electricians after that it should've cost no more than £200. Frightened me saying my house would catch fire if I didn't have the work done. I have 2 young kids. Also let an apprentice do the work without prior authority. I think they left their robbing masks in the van. Tried to bribe me with £100 back if I changed my review. Currently looking into legal action but won't reply to letters.

Warning: Pushy Sales Tactics and Unprofessional Communication

EDITED

I contacted Sparky4You Ltd to request a quote for installing two additional plug sockets. The call I received felt more like a scripted call‑centre conversation than a local electrician. The operator focused mainly on fees rather than understanding the job, and I was told there was a £49 call‑out fee but no estimate could be given until someone arrived. When I said I wanted to think about it, the operator became pushy and pressured me to book immediately. This made me uncomfortable, so I chose not to proceed.

I was also concerned by the tone of Sparky4You Ltd’s initial public response to my review, which did not address any of the points I raised and instead made accusations. I stand by my experience and encourage others to read a range of reviews and check independent sources before booking.

The business falsely accused me of being a competitor. This is completely untrue. I have no affiliation with any electrical company and no conflict of interest of any kind. My review is based solely on my genuine interaction with Sparky4You Ltd.

Further edit:
After posting my review, Sparky4You Ltd attempted to contact me privately via WhatsApp. They sent the following message:
“This is Chriss from Sparky4You Ltd. There’s a big misunderstanding so if you have a minute to talk please let me know so I can explain everything.”
I am choosing not to engage privately. I prefer all communication to remain visible and transparent.

Additional edit:
Sparky4You Ltd has since removed their original public response to my review. For transparency, I have uploaded a screenshot of their initial reply so that other customers can see the full context.

Final update:
I have now received two private messages from different business numbers linked to Sparky4You Ltd, even after I clearly stated that I prefer communication to remain public. The most recent message said:
“I want to sincerely apologise for my previous response to your review. I made an incorrect assumption and that was completely wrong of me. I also apologise if my attempt to contact you privately caused any discomfort. I respect your preference to keep communication on this platform. Your feedback has been taken seriously, and we are reviewing how we handle enquiries to ensure customers feel properly listened to and not pressured in any way.”

For transparency, I will not be responding privately and will keep all communication visible so that other customers can make informed decisions.

Would give 0 if possible

UPDATE: Since this review has been posted the engineer that came out has called, trying to guilt trip me & refund the fallout fee that I paid to get this review taken down. I have firmly said no as this review in no way misrepresents what has occurred, to which he agreed. I am now receiving multiple calls off international numbers since 8am. Beware.

Would give 0 if possible. Called in to book for a hob installation, on the phone they quoted me for £49 callout + labour. They show up, take pictures, and text me a quote for £800! To install a £80 pre-provided hob?? Absolute joke.

Hired a different electrician who installed the hob & fixed other problems around the house for £80.

Watch out. This is a SCAM.

Terrible

Terrible. Gave the job out to local electricians who tried to charge me 530 to swap an oven hob over. It wasn't the local electricians fault, the invoice came from above. I refused and found a proper electrician with normal prices. Scammers.

Fraud

They hired a third part company (Elecfix) to come out during an emergency. Two 'electricians' showed up, cut a bunch of wires, didn't fix the problem and then demanded we pay them £448 for doing nothing or else they would not leave. Do not use this company.

They responded to my enquiry and it was…

They responded to my enquiry and it was difficult talking because the persons English and understanding of my words was poor. I asked various question and he was persistantly trying to get me to an engineer coming out. Not asking any questions as to what needed doing. When I asked him to supply information as to what Electrical body they were affiliated and for qualification info he hung up. I checked at Companies house and according to their info this company is dissolved.
