Looking at 43 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers express significant dissatisfaction with the products received, frequently citing issues with counterfeit items, faulty goods, or products that do not match their descriptions. The website itself is often criticized for issues related to fraudulent transactions and scammers, with some users feeling that the platform does not adequately prevent such activities. Refund processes are a major point of contention, with many customers reporting difficulties in obtaining refunds, even for items that were faulty or never received, and feeling that their money-back guarantee is not honored. Customer service is consistently described as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach, with reviewers often encountering automated bots or agents who provide pre-written responses and fail to resolve issues. Some people were dissatisfied with the overall service, highlighting a lack of seller protection, high fees, and a general feeling that the platform no longer prioritizes its users.

Unfair policies, legal action against eBay is necessary

I cannot be any different in my review than a lot of other people who have posted here. I had an account in perfect condition, not even a commercial selling account, for 14 years. I put some random things sitting in my garage for sale on ebay and they restricted the account. I followed up with all their document requests for almost 3 months and they ended up permanently restricting my seller account. I don't really need to sell anything through ebay but it was just an unbelievable waste of time and effort to even deal with them in the first place. If the activity was suspicious in the first place then why have me go through the process of providing documentary evidence? I don't even want to comment on how stupid their policies are but I can sympathize with anyone who is dealing with eBay on a regular basis, paying them, and having to deal with this company.

Always worthy to buy from eBay

I purchased 4Cyte from the store "Tradepetproducts".

Had my best experience till now. Store shipped the product immediately and received the product in safe condition. The product is so good for my old little jamy (dog), and it positively responded to this treatment. So happy for this product and the seller.

Burned by ebay for the last time!

I have just had ebay charge me for the price of an item I was selling.
Had someone purchase something I was selling and she decided to make two purchases to cover the price of the freight. I was informed by ebay that they would withhold my payment for a minimum of a month. I explained to the purchaser that I do not let anything leave without being paid for. She understood and cancelled the order through ebay and paid me directly as shown in the ad. Ebay then charged my credit card for the purchase price less their ridiculous fees!
I am cancelling my account after 22 years and will never deal with them again.
Extremely dishonest!

EBAY is cheating with its sellers fees

I recently sold 2 items on Ebay to the same buyer and was able to combine the postage. Later that day, the buyer bought 2 more items from me. Given I was able to combine all 4 items into the one package/parcel, I was able to give the buyer a AU$40 refund.

Ebay's fees for these items are based on 13.4% of total value plus AU$0.30 flat fee for each item.

Given I immediately refunded my buyer AU$40, I was expecting to get 13.4% of that $40 from ebay in refunded fees ( = approx $5.35).

When I received my monthly statement from Ebay it did NOT included the fee refund.

I contacted Ebay and their response was ... the partial refund was phased out in January 2023. They also said the partial refund feature would return soon. But they did not give a date NOR did they commit to refunding all those Ebayer's in the same situation as me.

So I am good enough to combine postage and give my buyer a refund but Ebay is not good enough to give me a refund of the fees I paid for the $40 refund I gave my buyer.

I feel Ebay has cheated me (and other sellers in the same situation). Is Ebay's actions fraud or theft? It certainly is morally wrong in my opinion.

You are a disgrace Ebay.

Google states EBay's annual revenue for 2022 was $9.795B, a 6% decline from 2021. Poor Ebay had a decline in revenue in 2022 from 2021. But you still got $9.795B in revenue and you can't even give me back my $5.35 paid in excess fees !?!?!?!? I am struggling with increasing interest rates on a home loan, increasing gas/electricity/water bills, increasing cost of groceries and yet Ebay seems happy to take (and keep) fees for a postage refund I gave my buyer. I am a simple private seller who is selling my possessions to earn money to live. You Ebay are taking money from me unfairly.

If and when you re-introduce this partial fee refund, how much profit will you gain from your sellers until then?

And if/when you ever do re-introduce your partial fee refund, will those sellers who are entitled to such refunds in the period you took away this feature ever be refunded? I suspect NOT.

EBAY - YOU ARE GREEDY, SELFISH AND MORALLY WRONG

Beware eBay's 30 day policy

The eBay platform is geared for small local transactions, eBay will not take responsibility after 30 days so there are many dodgy sellers out there who rort this clause, I've been caught out twice with items coming from overseas and also paid for international tracking which of course the seller pocketed. Ebay themselves are incredibly unhelpful to the point of being annoying, naturally you can't speak to anyone and they hide behind emails. On the contrary Amazon & Ali express have been excellent and I will only now purchase through them online.

Sellers manipulate reviews

I bought some air-fryer accessories from Ebay, the reviews from the seller appeared positive. When the products arrived the goods we're flimsy and the muffin tray would only hold a tablespoon. I posted my review reflecting the poor quality of the products.
Following this, the seller constantly msg me to remove my unfavourable review. I msg the seller that I felt pressured. The cost to return the goods was more than it was worth and a replacement wouldn't make the quality any better. I was offered a 50% refund, I did not ask for a refund. This is what happened last time and my unfavourable was review removed. The seller constantly requested me to remove the review to receive the refund, it is blackmail. I have messaged Ebay to review my and previous refunds to see if the seller was blackmailing other buyers. I have received no response. All Ebay need to do is check my messages to the seller.
If sellers manipulate their reviews, there must be a benefit to having favourable reviews, this results in buyers being duped and deceived, it is so dodgey. If the seller pressures sellers to remove unfavourable reviews offering them refunds if they do, only favourable reviews will appear on the sellers profile. This skews the feedback, puts Ebays credibility in question, and is so deceptive.
Ebay needs to change this practice for reviews to be trustworth and Ebay to be ethical. It is not ethical!

Keep removing seller's negative feedback buyer left

Ordered a wire stripper off ebay from a Chinese seller brand Vevor. It's an advertised 750w machine. but read reviews on the internet that it could be a fake one.

After a quick test on the machine when received. turns out it's a 350w machine, only half the power of what's advertised. Messaged the seller back and forth and uploaded all the evidence. finally got refunded.

The machine has a 750w sticker on it, and the motor even plated as 750w too, but it's a FAKE one, the seller is intentionally scamming on ebay.

As the issue was solved and refunded, so out of a soft heart, I just left a Neutral feedback instead of Negative. Just want to let other buyers be aware of this trick. but only within a couple of hours the feedback disappeared ! I guess it must be removed by ebay AGAIN.

because my workmate bought such a machine months ago from the same brand vevor, but from another of their ebay accounts. It's a fake 750w too. then left a negative feedback for his bad experience, but very soon it's removed. ebay's excuses are....like ebay shouldn't be mentioned in the review, and shouldn't mention refund etc. I believe it's nothing but excuses to protect the scam seller. My mate was pissed off and swore never to shop on ebay any more.

I was told of all of this on the phone yesterday when I called him to ask about his machine.

Then I talked to one of ebay's agents, and the reason given was, " their agent mistakenly removed it". "they will give the agent more coaching". Pissed off and speechless. eBay always has excuses.

and long after my mate's complaint and report, the seller's advertisement was still up and alive. So it's obvious that ebay's protecting the seller even though it's a scam, as it's a big sale account, and ebay can make $ out of their sales. eBay will tell you they will take strict action towards the seller. but you'll never see the action, because the seller is still selling and scamming out there.

Now you know the story and you have an impression on what ebay is. Thanks for your time.

You cant get refund if the seller is not covert with money back guarantee!!!

I liked eBay, I have been shopping from their web store since 2010, but probably this will be the END!!
I will share two cases why NOT EbaY anymore.
1. The seller wasn't able to provide the services that I paid for, so he said that he will refund the money to me.
I waited few day but nothing, so I decided to contact eBay support. I try first with item not received but I
came to a wall saying " This item is not covered with money back guarantee" contact the seller.
I tried so many different ways to contact eBay support buy I wasn't able to.
It comes to Money LOST.
I did manage to get my money back through my Bank (commonwealth Au), I report the transaction and
that I have not received the service that I had payed for.

2. I bought laptop battery with 5 years warranty, as it was on the ad. I wasn't expecting 5 years, 1 year should have been enough. So I got the battery and few days down the road the battery started to give up.
First I try to contact the seller but he wasn't replying any of my messages. I decided to contact Ebay
support. Their response was " Sorry but the warranty you need to sort out with the seller, we cant help
you". Doesn't matter that the seller did not reply. I confront the support person saying "Does this means
that Ebay is protecting scammers, they can write what ever they want so they can sell more and you have
not any control over your sellers ?" The support person got worried, he talked with his manager and the
issued me a voucher for the amount I paid.

I hope someone can find this useful.

Absolutely doggy platform

Absolutely doggy selling platform. They don't honor their coupon vouchers ( most of them expired or don't work).
When raising a concern about the above and after many attempts of chatting to to some foreigners it took over a month to get a very disappointing response!
Every thing is doggy about ebay.com.au and it's waste of money and time joining what is called member-plus.
Avoid at all cost. There are many other more trustworthy platform to shop other than ebay.com.au

They take your money and run

Made a sale on eBay and chose Sendle's "Printer-Free Parcel Pickup". Followed all the instructions, writing the tracking code and address on the parcel as required. The day my parcel was schedule to be picked up, I waited at home all day. The courier never showed up. Instead they recorded an "attempt" and stated that the parcel wasn't ready to be collected. A complete lie. I contacted both eBay and Sendle via "live chat", and after 8hrs they finally responded and said they would reschedule the pickup for the following day. The courier actually came the following day, but refused to take my parcel, saying that I must print the label. I explained I had purchased the label-free pickup, but the courier would not listen. They told me that a label-free service didn't exist and that Sendle was wrong, and then they just left. I contacted Sendle again, and after another significant delay they rescheduled pickup again for the next day, this time guaranteeing that the courier would not reject the parcel again and that they would be explicitly informed that I do not need to have a printed label on the parcel. Next day the courier comes and rejects the parcel again. More explaining from me, more rejection from the courier and they just leave without my parcel. I contact Sendle again and they just reschedule...

Three days wasted and my customer is no closer to receiving their order.

This is an absolute deflection of any responsibility, with no care or consideration for customers. Really unacceptable for any service industry. eBay was equally useless in assisting in the matter, absolving themselves of any responsibility for facilitating the Sendle "service" and just deflecting the onus back onto Sendle, all the while taking a commission of the sale.

I'll also note that eBay does subtly disclose caveats to the printer-free pickup service (you really have to look hard for them). This service is only available in certain suburbs, and my suburb was included in the service area.

Moving forward, I would avoid Sendle at all costs, and after almost 12 years selling on eBay, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

In general you can’t trust eBay because they don’t police there sellers. 1 feedback I looked at had over one thousand negative feedback in the last 12 months. The filter not worth using, item location means the seller is here but the item is in China. And you can’t contact eBay by phone.

Really bad eBay policy demanding personal bank account registration.

eBay has changed it policy's & now requires you to enter "Personal" Bank Account details to have a valid account for refunds, eBay Plus membership & selling. In light of the current issues I am less inclined to put any personal details on any online forum particularly bank account details. eBay assured me at the beginning of August that it would not be a problem if I renewed my eBay plus membership so I paid the $48.99 subscription by VISA. Less than a week later they canceled the subscription & would not refund through VISA or PayPal, they insisted that I put in personal bank account details to get my refund despite it being paid through VISA. Many phone calls & chats later & they still insist that I give them personal bank account details. I will never do that. I only operate with a level of security between online purchases & my bank account so VISA, BPay or PayPal which has worked with eBay for the last 20 years. 20 Years & 10's of thousands of dollars of purchases & now I continually get messages to say my account is going to be suspended. eBay prices have been good & most problems in the past have been resolved but I have now given up on trying to get my subscription refund & when my account is suspended I will not try to reactivate I will buy from other sources that accept VISA or PayPal.

Scammers on eBay but can't complain.

I've been trying to buy a 100mm glass cutting angle online and whether its AliExpress, which has bad reviews, or others and whether on their own website or eBay the listed price jumps about 3 times when you click to buy. eBay is totally useless to complain because it has to be about an item bough or sold and eBay Australia has no phone number to call. Onlt a phone number if the USA which as a pensioner I'm not going to call. So eBay allows scammers to flourish and no provision to complain.

BEWARE EBAY PLUS - IT'S A SCAM!

DO NOT TRUST EBAY PLUS CLAIMS THAT IT IS FREE! IT IS NOT FREE! There is no such free 30 trial period before you are required to pay membership.
That is a lie! They will charge you $49 immediately upon your first purchase. You will also not get the chance of paying membership monthly - that is another lie. Whatever information they provide you on the screen is a lie, their terms and conditions tell a different story completely. I was a loyal customer for over 15 years and then made the mistake of joining eBay Plus based on it appearing to be a good offer but they duped and lied to me. Unfortunately this is proof that they are an untrustworthy company, this is a warning to stay clear of this offer!

TERRIBLE customer service regarding suspended account

TERRIBLE customer service. I signed up to ebay with the aim of selling some unwanted items. I immediately received an email saying my account had been permanently suspended (before I had even got to the stage of listing anything). I had an online chat with their customer service guy called Adrian who asked me what I wanted to sell (a football jersey) and then told me my suspension would be upheld. When I asked why, when I hadn’t even listed anything yet, he refused to answer apparently in case I tried to find a way around their security features (his words) and then Adrian promptly left the chat without allowing me to ask further questions about what the hell that means. I then tried to close my account and have my personal data deleted but kept getting an error message saying I had to contact ebay directly. Back on the chat I went and was passed around multiple people before I finally got someone to confirm that they would delete my account and personal information.
Absolutely ridiculous waste of time and still none the wiser about why my account was permanently suspended. Terrible customer service and will never be using ebay again for buying or selling.
