Excellent service. Easy forms to fill, no hidden costs. Costumer service really good, everything explain clearly and was very helpful with any questions I had. Showed me around the car and was more tgen happy to show me the buttons. Friendly, easy and polite. The car was nice. Nice model and a smooth ride. Would highly recommend.

Easy to do, great price and have had excellent after sales service

The guy at the desk was so polite and kind, I was very stressed about making it on time as my flight was delayed but he was reassuring and overall just provided me with an amazing customer service. Really impressed with it all.

Helpful, friendly staff at pick up and drop-off. No hard-sell pressure re insurance cover (we had purchased our own). Car as clean and in really good condition, nice to drive.

I prepaid €253.90 for a car rental through StressFreeCarRental (booking 5100059854) for collection at Frankfurt Airport.

I arrived at the rental desk to collect the vehicle. The vehicle was not provided because of an issue concerning the payment card required for the deposit.

The particularly concerning part is that my card was never actually attempted.

My bank subsequently confirmed that there was:

* no attempted authorization,
* no declined authorization,
* no failed deposit transaction, and
* therefore no evidence that the card technically failed.

Despite this, the booking was treated as an invalid-card/no-show situation and the full €253.90 was retained, although I was physically present to collect the vehicle and received no rental car.

I disputed the transaction through my bank. The chargeback was unsuccessful after the merchant supplied documentation concerning the booking conditions.

I therefore submitted a detailed formal complaint directly to StressFreeCarRental and asked them to review the underlying facts.

Their final response was that because the bank dispute had already concluded, they considered the matter resolved and would not reopen the substantive issue through their complaint process. They instead directed me towards consumer-protection or legal channels.

That is exactly what I am now doing.

I am leaving this review so that other customers understand what happened in my case before deciding whether to book here or with sixt, europcar or better alternatives.

Update following StressFreeCarRental's response:
StressFreeCarRental states that a valid credit card in the lead driver's name was required. That is precisely the point in dispute. I attended the rental desk and presented my Revolut Mastercard in my name. The desk employee declined to process the card at all.
Revolut subsequently confirmed that there was no attempted authorisation, no declined authorisation and no failed deposit transaction. Therefore, the card was never technically tested or declined.
StressFreeCarRental nevertheless retained the full prepaid rental price of €253.90 and has declined to reconsider the matter following its complaints process.
The matter has therefore now been submitted to the European Consumer Centre Germany for independent review (case ECCDE-111240). I will update this review when that process has concluded

Helpful team, pick up was arranged in the middle of the night after a delayed flight, quick and smooth

Unreliable company with zero customer service and no response. They took my money and didn't provide a car. They didn't even bother to issue a refund. Do yourself a favor and stay away!

The excess protection insurance doesn't cover vans

Extremely disappointing and unprofessional company. I would strongly advise people to be very careful before booking with them.

I paid for a car rental, but unfortunately we were unable to collect the car because our credit card could not be processed due to a PIN issue. We did not use the car or their rental service at all.

We immediately tried to contact the company to explain the situation and request a refund. However, there is no customer service phone number, no live chat, and no proper way to speak to anyone directly. I emailed them requesting a refund because the car was never used, but after 3 days I still have received no response.

What is even more concerning is that this appears to be a third-party commission/booking agent rather than the actual car rental company. They simply arrange the booking with another rental company, leaving customers struggling to get help when something goes wrong.

My experience has been extremely frustrating. It feels like once they receive your money, getting support or a refund becomes almost impossible.

Hopeless customer service, irresponsible and completely unprofessional. I would not recommend this company based on my experience. Please be very careful before paying them.

All very easy. Quite a bit of damage to the car but added 5 scratches not previously recorded and these were accepted without question.

The lady we dealt with at pick up was ever so friendly and efficient. Very knowledgeable. Always nice to arrive to a warm welcome

Dropping off was easy unlike collection. Lady was rude and dismissive and we were given a car small when we booked a medium car for 5 people. When I challenge she basically said take it or leave it. We were in Italy, not speaking the language and my mum is disabled and the assistance man was waiting. Very stressful collection. This was Europcar.

Simple booking process and nice but cheap car…. BUT

They are a broker and booked me to a company Del Paso, who did not take my AMEX credit card and would not even accept the full ‘deposit’ on debit card. Del Paso is setup to prevent resolution here, other than customers paying heavily. They tried to convince me the only was was to spend another €300 on full insurance with no claims. We had to cancel and were left with 2 young kids in the heat with no car

Not very Stress Free, especially when there was no phone number for Stress Free during this farce, plus they were not responsive in time on the only way to contact them, via web chat
