Strongly advice to stay away from this company

I had a truly dreadful experience with SumUp. From the moment I signed up honestly, by mistake I ran into nothing but problems. Their customer service is shocking, easily the worst I’ve ever dealt with. Getting any kind of response was difficult, and when I did hear back, the communication was poor and unhelpful. What made things even worse was them holding onto my money without clear explanation. It caused unnecessary stress and frustration, and no one seemed willing or able to resolve it properly. Overall, a horrible experience from start to finish. I will never use them again and strongly advise others to avoid their service.

System doesn’t work as one

I bought the plus system so I could manage a floor plan along with two handheld devices and two printers. The system is nothing short of useless. The handheld devices don’t show the same orders as the till so you can’t close out orders on the till that were created on the handheld and vice versa. The printers constantly fail to print so orders don’t make it to the kitchen. Makes for an awful management of what needs to be made. Been dealing with support for over a week before opening and sure enough didn’t do anything. For something sold as plug and play, it’s terrible. I regret buying this thing and will be looking at other better alternatives. Would not recommend this at all. Avoid!

Perfect for starting out

I’ve been using SumUp for my small food business, and overall it’s been a really smooth experience.

The setup was quick and straightforward, and I like how easy it is to start taking payments straight away without complicated contracts. For now, I also host my website through SumUp, it’s very basic, but it does the job and I’m happy with it. It’s especially great not having to pay monthly fees just to maintain a website.

Payouts are reliable, and I appreciate the transparency with fees, no hidden surprises. It’s been really useful to have everything in one place, from payments to online orders.

That said, the product and variant setup could be more flexible, especially when offering different sizes or options.

Overall, SumUp is a great option for small businesses or anyone starting out.

Spent 4 hours on their chat 8 days without device. Refused to give me complaints address.

Spent 4 hours on their chat trying to sort out what appears to be a software glitch. After about an hour the advisor hangs up then I have to explain the issue again to another less than incompetent person. This went on for 3 days! Tried to complain but customer support would not let me! Refused to give me there managers name or put me through. Refused to give me email address or advise of complaints procedure. Still not working 5 days on, and no email or call back. They have no support. Telephone line takes you to chat via text support. Total rubbish company. Please avoid this company. These people are managing people money and livelihoods. I also note that it took minutes for SumUp to respond to a bad trust pilot review.

Update: now on day 8 without device and email response to complaint is "We'd like to inform you that we no longer use email as a communication channel."
Further email today day 8 from SumUp stating they have closed my profile as requested!
Interesting as I requested the issue to be fixed. I cannot reiterate enough how bad SumUp customer service is, it seams any issues one has with service or device and it's easier to close your profile than deal with the problem.
