Bought Milwaukee Combo kit which Trade Tools had for $13 cheaper including bonus line trimmer. To their credit they matched the price and assured me that marketing would approve the line trimmer bonus... See more

Bad store policy
Bad store policy, Bought an Automotive scanning tool specifically to do Holdens , website says it will do all holdens from 1996 onwards , box and paperwork states all holdens , I have 3 different holdens and it didn’t work on any of them , so I took the product back , they wouldn’t refund my money even knowing they sold me a product that didn’t do what they claimed it would do , only offered me a store credit, I had a gift card worth $150 and the remainder of the product was payed in cash , I can understand them paying the refund on the card of $150 but why couldn’t they give me the cash back , now I have a $279 gift card, very disappointed knowing I researched there product on line and it didn’t do the job it claimed to do
Sydney tools Rutherford
Sydney tools Rutherford – since opening I have spent a few dollars there. Today like many times when I need to buy small items that will fit in my backpack I ride my motorcycle to the store like many times before without any problems, but today I feel I was treated like a criminal probably because of my rough looks and I ride a bike, I was basically told to leave my bag and contents at the front. I showed them inside my bag which had my wallet and a 200 x 140mm x 50mm container with emergency motorcycle keys, spare motorcycle fob, fuses etc and I said they could check my bag on the way out, not good enough for them as they had to enforce the no bag policy. Of course im gonna get my back up, this hasn’t happened to me anywhere, I go to a lot of shops, bunnings, bcf, supermarkets, gasweld etc never a problem. I took my box and wallet out and gave my pack to the worker and said to stick and proceeded to the aisle and was then told if I didn’t leave they would call the police as he didn’t want me speaking to his staff like that, fair enough so I proceeded left but not without saying a few choice words as anyone would. When I first arrived I was in a good mood when I walked out well stuff them. Outside I did say a couple of things but the bigoted guy who asked me to leave was also heard yelling abuse from inside the store.
Would I go back there - NEVER
Would I recommend this store to anyone - NEVER. Would a lady coming into the store with or without a partner be asked to leave her handbag or carry bag at the front NEVER
Would anyone from front line emergency services be asked to leave their bags NEVER
I left and spent a couple of hundred dollars at their rival store around the corner and boxing day I will be returning to the rival store to purchase my unimig razor 200amp mig/tig/stick valued at 2295.00
I did say to them before leaving that I would give them a bad review and they replied that they didn’t care about any reviews.
And by the way I retired 4 years ago after working 47 years in security, and I don’t steal and i hate thieves and bigoted people
Staff are asleep@
Ordered and paid for product online on 20 Nov. Got a message on the 21st saying they were checking stock. Then nothing, followed up on 9 Dec still no response. It is now 16 Dec! They are very bad at looking after customers. Update. Told today I need to pay a additional $300 before they will order. No explanation. Cancelled order. The item is instock and will ship next day with other supplier and cheaper. Now I am waiting for the refund.
I recently visited Sydney Tools
I recently visited Sydney Tools, and my experience was pretty disappointing. From my point of view, the staff came across as uninterested and noticeably unfriendly. I tried asking a few basic questions about a product, but the way I was spoken to made me feel like I was bothering them rather than being helped.
The overall vibe I got was that customer service was not a priority. Instead of feeling supported, I left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. With so many other places offering similar products, I expected a much better level of professionalism and courtesy.
This is just my personal experience, but based on how I was treated, I would be hesitant to shop there again.
Metabo nail gun kit with battery
I purchased a Metabo nail gun kit with battery online from Sydney Tools. Only a short time after my purchase, the price dropped by 40% for Black Friday. Since the item was still unopened and unused, I contacted customer service to request a price adjustment — which felt like a fair and reasonable request given how close the purchase was to the sale.
Unfortunately, Sydney Tools refused to offer any goodwill gesture, not even store credit. For a large company, I found this disappointing and not very customer-focused. This experience has definitely made me reconsider future purchases.
Don't bother buying from Sydney Tools
Don't bother buying from Sydney Tools, use a competitor like Bunnings or Total Tools. I recently made a purchase for some equipment I needed, only to learn afterwards that the items were actually on sale at a significantly discounted price. When I went back to the store, Dandenong South in this case, I was told that there was nothing they planned on doing about it, despite the fact not a single mention of the sale price was made, and they they were still on sale at that time. Even a store credit would have been fine. Alas, I will never use Sydney tools again, be it personal or business purchases, and would advise anyone reading this to avoid them as well. As I mentioned, use a competitor, such as Bunnings or Total tools, and save yourself the headache.
Worst Customer Service
Ordered Advertised special, Gearwrench Side Cabinet. No correspondence, after 2 weeks I rang to enquire on the progress of my order only to be told even though their website showed Kalgoorlie branch having it in stock they didn't. Another week passed without any communication so I rang agian and was told that there was one at another store but it was damaged. Ihad repeatedly asked for A REFUND which was totally ignored and I was told the Kalgoorlie branch had to do the refund. This was a birthday present for my son and I could pick one up from Beyond Tools in Malaga WA sameday for $44 less than the Sydney Tools so called online special! If you dont want to prvide customer service go back to Sydney and take your stoers with you. I wont be dealing with these rude unhelpful people anymore. Brian

⭐ 1-Star Review
⭐ 1-Star Review – Mislabelled Product & Poor Handling of Consumer Rights
I visited Sydney Tools to purchase an oil pressure testing kit. I was greeted at the door by a staff member who walked me through the store and personally selected the kit for me, based on my clear request for an oil pressure tester.
When I arrived home and opened the kit, I discovered it was not an oil pressure kit at all, but a fuel pressure testing kit—despite the front label stating:
“Daytona D1009 – 45pce Oil Combustion Pressure Meter & Testing Kit”
Inside was a manual for a fuel pressure tester, and the components had nothing to do with oil pressure testing. The product was incorrectly labelled and not fit for purpose.
When I returned to the store, I was immediately met with:
“We don’t do refunds, only store credits.”
As a business owner with an online store myself, I’m well aware of Australian consumer law, and this statement is simply incorrect. Under consumer law, a retailer must provide a refund if a product is misrepresented, incorrectly labelled, or not as described—all of which applied here.
After explaining this, I was told I needed to speak with the manager, who had conveniently just walked out the door. Staff called him and continued to justify their “credit only” policy. I also overheard one staff member refer to me as:
“One of those customers.”
Apparently “one of those customers” means someone who understands their legal rights and expects a business to act ethically.
I was left waiting 15–20 minutes for the manager to return before finally receiving a refund.
Key points:
The item was incorrectly labelled and not what I requested.
A staff member personally selected the wrong product for me.
The store attempted to deny a refund and push credit-only—a direct breach of consumer law.
Staff made dismissive comments about customers who know their rights.
Sydney Tools appears to rely on customers not fully understanding consumer protections. That’s unacceptable. Ethical businesses operate within the law, not around it.
I won’t be returning.

Purchased a circular saw blade with the wrong bore size, they refused to return/replace , also refused to escalate to someone that can make decisions, amazingly bad service from a retail business, Total tools will be getting my money going forward as they provide decent service and policies.
Awful service and they never respond
Had an issue with them not even sending a faulty battery on warranty back to manufacturer and repeatedly lying about the status of the return. After I went direct to manufacturer to get it sorted I put in a complaint via the feedback Chan’s as instructed on the website and they have simply ignored it for over a month despite repeated attempts to contact them. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. SELLING DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS
I’ve been a loyal Sydney Tools customer for years and spent thousands of dollars with them, but after my recent experience I’ll never shop there again.
On 27/08/2025 I purchased a Super Hydro 30m high-pressure hose from Sydney Tools Tuggerah. After ONE residential job (cleaning a driveway, bricks, curb guttering, and fences) the hose was already worn down to the wire braiding, making it unsafe to use. This is a product advertised as “abrasion resistant” and “designed for professional use.”
When I returned the hose, the excuses started: first they told me it must have been “incorrect transport,” then that I had “misused it,” and later they claimed it had been “cut.” At no point did they provide evidence—just assumption after assumption.
The most shocking part? My warranty claim was actually APPROVED through Sydney Tools’ own customer service. I went into the store to choose a replacement, only for head office to reverse the decision and deny it without explanation. Even the sales staff in Tuggerah admitted I had been treated unfairly.
This is disgraceful customer service. A $200 hose failed after one basic job, my warranty was approved and then unfairly revoked, and I was left accused of things I didn’t do. Sydney Tools clearly prioritises profits over customers, despite their claims of “customer satisfaction before, during and after each sale.”
If you value honesty, accountability, or fair treatment under Australian Consumer Law, avoid Sydney Tools.

Got scammed with a faulty product
Got scammed with a faulty product, customer service lied and then ghosted me. Avoid at all costs.
ZERO STAR customer service and…
ZERO STAR customer service and extremely poor staff at MICHINBURY NSW branch. I WILL NEVER EVER GO TO THAT BRANCH AGAIN..
Company as a whole should be under review for its dodgy policies. I could not return UNUSED items as company changed policy AFTER I had purchased items.
And stupid staff at Minchinbury staff treat you like a thief.THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO BUSINESS..
Invasion of Privacy
I went to the store to purchase a Makita Driver Drill for $269 for cash.
The attendant asked me for my phone number which I declined to give him. He then proceeded to lecture me about warranty needing a receipt to which I questioned “you will give me a receipt for my purchase won’t you?” He said yes but you’d better not lose it and then said “oh, it’s over $250, the system may not allow me to process it with out your phone number. I’ll try it and see” so he took my $300 in cash then entered something into his computer then turned to me and said “ no, the system needs your phone number” so I asked him to give me back my money and told him that I would purchase the drill somewhere else. He hesitated giving the cash back, glancing over towards a supervisor then thought twice about it and handed back my cash and I walked out. Sydney Tools are privacy invading tools and I will not step foot inside their stores again.
Sydney Tools buyer beware
I have not had a failed Hikoki charger replaced since May 2025 even after a NSW Fair Trading complaint that involved Sydney Tools legal council Eden Corbett. Buyer beware.
Ive never contact sydney tools but I…
Ive never contact sydney tools but I get heaps of spam from them. they dont respond to emails or phone calls and I am fed up with them. Judging by the many bad reviews they have had across the net I would never ever deal with them
5 weeks waiting for an online…
After 3 weeks waiting for an online order to be delivered, (made up of stock that was available at time of purchase), a phone call revealed 1 item was out of stock, so nothing had been sent. but after my call some of my order was posted and only took 1 day to arrive.
I only purchased online because it wasn't in stock locally and it doesn't seem very honest to sell stock they don't have.
2 week later I phoned to chase up the rest of my order and was told it had just come back in stock. It was posted the next day.
It seems like they don't post an order until you phone up to complain.
Absolutely appalling customer…
Absolutely appalling customer experience and return policy. Products that regularly break and refusal to replace or refund.
Accusations of customer lying to avoid meeting consumer protection standards.
It’s a shame more people don’t read the shocking reviews before purchasing with them .
Still waiting months later after having to pay out of own pocket for return of equipment, met with excuses constantly.
Misrepresentation
Purchased a click and collect kit from Pakenham only to establish it was second hand tools and a repack they tried to say was new. Had to travel a distance to another store to collect proper kit. Complaint emails x 3 made in writing and not processed or followed up and no customer service. Very unprofessional and no accountability.
