Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the products, citing issues such as the condition of received items, faulty products, and products that did not perform as advertised or broke quickly. The customer service was frequently described as unprofessional, unhelpful, and unresponsive, with many reporting difficulties in getting issues resolved or even receiving a follow-up. Furthermore, the refund process was a major point of contention, with numerous accounts of difficulties in obtaining refunds or dissatisfaction with the refund options provided. Some people were dissatisfied with the staff, mentioning instances of rude behavior, unfriendliness, and a lack of accountability, with some customers feeling mistreated. While a few customers found the pricing and postage times satisfactory, others reported discrepancies between advertised and in-store prices, or price drops shortly after purchase without recourse.

BUYER BEWARE OF SYDNEY TOOLS TERMS AND…

BUYER BEWARE OF SYDNEY TOOLS TERMS AND CONDITIONS . Happy to take your money don’t expect a refund on a brand new unopened item with the original receipt in less than 14 days . They will direct you to there T&C’s and refuse to refund . They’ll offer you a store credit…. who wants to deal with a company that treats their customers customers like this. It’s clear to see why they have such a low rating pretty poor. Needless to say with an experience like this I will never deal with them again. I will send my gang of twenty tradies to TKD or Total tools they are accommodating with returns and have good Customer service. After my private review with Sydney tools the so called customer service told how sorry they were and was there anything they could do I can . I replied a full refund thanks that was answered with no response much to my surprise confirming that they too have no interest in helping it was clearly a cut and paste message .I’m sure I’m not the first and won’t be the last.Upon spreading the word several other people have also had similar experiences.

I bought a $670 battery chainsaw

I bought a $670 battery chainsaw, it stopped working in the 1st hour of using it so we took it back to Sydney tools Dubbo on the 19th may. They said I'd have it back inside 3 weeks and they would let me know when it arrived at the workshop etc. After 2 weeks I hadn't heard anything so I rang them and they had sent it to the Milwaukee service centre on the 30th may, I asked why they didn't send it asap and they said Milwaukee didn't like them sending only one thing as Milwaukee pay the courier. I rang Milwaukee and they said that was a lie and they encourage retail places to send tools needing repair asap as they have a 2 week turnaround policy including freight and that Sydney tools know this. Also Milwaukee had not received the tool. I waited for another couple of weeks and rang Sydney tools again as had heard nothing, they said they had no idea where my tool was so I asked them to find it and call me, they found it was still in transit as they had sent it to the wrong place. Milwaukee finally received my tool 4 weeks after I dropped it to the Sydney tools store. I complained to the head office of Sydney tools and they said they would talk to the manager and get him and the area manager to call me. That was 5 days ago and still waiting. In the end I'm now just dealing with Milwaukee and they are sending the tool straight to me so I don't have to deal with Syndney tools again. I will never walk into that store or any Sydney tools store again, very bad customer service and arrogant behaviour when I spoke with them

SYDNEY TOOLS ONLINE - BEWARE

Initial review edited as Sydney Tools customer service followed up a negative review and sent the missing parts, everything was received 7 weeks after reporting the issue.

Follow-up customer service was great but 2 stars overall. It sucks having to leave negative reviews before receiving a response from a business about missing product parts.

Initial Review (1 star): I purchased several items from Sydney Tools online, some of which arrived with missing parts. I contacted their customer support and provided the information that was requested - after this I heard nothing from the business despite following them up 3 times. All I wanted was the missing parts I had paid for to be sent.

Faulty products. Terrible customer service. Unethical business behaviour.

Sales guy Scott Anderson was super helpful and informative. He spent time with me helping select the correct type of battery operated drill for my needs. I had just moved to Bundaberg and this was my first purchase while setting up my household.

Scott was an absolute legend

Scott was an absolute legend. Was calm and collected. Even though i was talking his ear off while trying to explain what i needed. He then proceeded to explain different options for different tools and helped me make an informed decision on what I needed for the task I was trying to accomplish. I would highly recommend him.

Worst shop ever

Worst shop ever, never buy from this shop. They will keep one tool on the website and give you another, and after that, the head office members are so rude will cut off your call as soon as they hear the receipt number. If this were Bunnings would have sent or replaced the item for free. They are the worst ones to buy the tools, and will never understand the problems. Worst company seen so far .

SYDNEY TOOLS PAGET 4740

SYDNEY TOOLS PAGET 4740

My order was spose to be reimbursed to myself or afterpay due to an item which was spose to be in stock but wasn't on the 23/05/25 and was exchanged for another. Instead of a small difference payment the operator cancelled the order and made me pay again by card. The original payment was never sent to afterpay or myself it was sent back to Sydney tools as told to me 6 days later by the operator at Sydney tools. I was told it would be reimbursed to myself on the 28th of may this never happened and I'm still trying to get my money back.

Don't use Sydney Tools they will steal your money.

These guys sell you things they don't have in stock. Be very careful of them

Sadly, Sydney Tools are happy to accept your money when you buy online despite not having the items available and no visibility when they will have them.
On the 11 May, I ordered and paid for an accessory to my DeWalt thicknessr that Sydney Tools listed on their website.
They happily accepted my payment of $99.00 yet some two days later. I received an email stating they didn't have the item in stock, but I would receive it within "a week or two"
Today, I went into my local Sydney Tools store where they explained that there was no stock for what I had paid for and the supplier didn't have any either.
They stated that as a best case, I would receive the item towards end of June
I then demanded a refund but all I got was an email from a "noreply" email address at Sydney Tools, sending me an invoice for what I had bought but they were unable to supply
This is mail order fraud at the best interpretation.
I intend to take them for Fair Trading to demand my money back plus compensation for any accrued losses

Item ticketed at a price and Bundaberg…

Item ticketed at a price and Bundaberg store refused to sell at this price. Wanted to charge $100 more. Manager offered $50 more. Still not good enough. Store should honour the sticker price on the item.
This was a physical sticker barcode on the item, not a shelf ticket.

Sale finished but tag price not changed.

Saw a compressor online for $199 thought that's good, found it in store in Capalaba with a huge $199 tag on it. Got to the register and found it was actually $235.
If you are going to finish a sale on a FRIDAY then ensure your tags are changed BEFORE opening on a Saturday.

waste of space tool shop run by tools

Placed an on line order and then nothing for 21 days, rang them up to find out about my order and got redirected to another store run buy tools. Asked about my order and was told they had no stock and that I would have to pay extra to have my items shipped in then shipped to me. The tool on the phone did not appear to know how to go about this or what extra costs I would be up for. I sent a email to cancel the order and get a refund, got no responce from sydney tools. I am now going through PayPay to try and get my refund. My recommendation is that all sydney tools stores close till you get staff that are not tools.

Very unhelpful - no chnage of mind policy

Very unhelpful, staff don't know their tools. They don't have a "change of mind" policy and won't even allow me to get a store credit for other tools when i want something esle (unopened, untouched). Have a blanket policy not to refund or store credit anyhting purchased before or during SEQ cyclone. Will NEVER buy here again. Two very poor experiences here.

Awesome

Awesome, I've ordered from their webstore a couple of times now, got my items on time and their live-chat was actually helpful in sorting out a query I had with one of my orders. Since Bunnings don't offer delivery to my area and Sydney Tools' prices are on par with theirs they're now my go-to for ordering power tools online.

Terrible warranty and delete negative product reviews

Terrible warranty. I purchased a pressure hose that failed and they would not replace it because it was dragged across an abrasive surface. It should be able to be dragged along the ground, it's a 60 mtr hose that cost $649!
The biggest issue is they remove negative reviews from their website. That is absolutely against the law and deceiving the public. The ACCC have been notified.

Warranty claim issues

I went to the store to make a claim on a cordless drill still under warranty. I was told because I dismantled MY drill that I may void warranty.
I was also told the drill has a smart chip in it that knows when I dismantle MY drill.
I have a diploma in electronics and am a qualified Electrician. The claim about a smart chip was not even remotely true. The salesperson was clearly telling an untruth and trying to void the warranty.
So if you are considering buying from Sydney Tools, don't count on them honouring their warranty.
Sydney Tools just lost a customer.
