No Data when roaming

I was assured of reliable roaming when I joined Talk Home.

One week of roaming, the local operators here in Spain, won't register this SIM.

My friends and neighbours here have no issues with Movistar, Orange.es or, Vodafone.es as roaming providers but Talk Home try to tell me that those providers are at fault!

This is a hideous level of customer service... in fact... IT'S INADEQUATE!

Breaking all assurances given to me on joining Talk Home, I am now left without a data connection in Spain for 2 months. I expected that whatever the issue, they would stand by me until it's solved... seems they won't .

My advice to those thinking of joining...DON'T !

You will regret it.

Hi GB,

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience while roaming in Spain.

Roaming services are enabled on our side; however, as outlined in our terms, access to networks abroad depends on third-party operators and the agreements in place with them. Coverage, registration, and service quality can vary by location and network, which is unfortunately outside of our direct control.

That said, this is not the experience we aim to provide. We are happy to have this investigated further to identify the root cause and work towards a resolution. Please contact our support team so we can escalate this on priority.

We remain committed to supporting our customers and resolving issues wherever possible.

Best Regards,

Hi Reiner,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience while roaming. However, it’s important to clarify that roaming services depend on partner networks in the country you are visiting, and service quality (including SMS and calls) can vary due to factors outside our direct control.

In the meantime, we recommend manually selecting from available networks and restarting your device and testing at different locations as this can often help stabilise roaming services.

Thieves!

Been a customer since November 2024 and largely the value for data has been good. Service is not great in my area so hit and miss on this front. However twice the monthly payment has been taken from my account, however no package is automatically loaded. They take my money and leave me without any service. Last payment was taken from my bank account (21/03) and then they cancelled future payments (24/03), effectively them telling me they are robbing me one last time. No emails or text from them to explain the cause in advance and no replies from customer service to resolve. As they cut the phone service, I also have no ability to call them (very clever tactics on their behalf).

Hi Røelof,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must have been.

Following a detailed review of your account, we can confirm that your payment on 21/03/2026 was successfully received. However, due to a system upgrade and maintenance activity during that period, there was an unexpected delay in activating your plan, which resulted in the temporary loss of service. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Regarding the PayPal issue, your payments were previously set up via a PayPal recurring agreement, which has now been migrated to our updated PayPal Vault system as part of platform improvements. As a result, some existing agreements were automatically cancelled, which is why your future payments were affected.

To avoid any further disruption, updating your payment method will re-establish the payment setup, and no further issues are expected going forward.

We appreciate your patience and feedback, and we’re continuously working to improve both our systems and customer experience.

Best Regards,
Sid

Every month the data just goes - seems they cut me off for doing what every other provider lets you do

Every month the data just goes. 4g gone. No WhatsApp or Internet. Rely on WhatsApp and Internet to do my job. Customer service mostly useless when I even have the energy to contact them.

Go through multiple steps, ask what's going on, nothing.

Read these reviews and WHAT THE ACTUAL - seems it's because I tried to tether my tablet. One time I didn't even mean to and it seems that wiped me out for that month.

Fine. You wanna play it that way. I'm leaving.

Nearly year's stress with this happening multiple times. Making my boss think I'm disappearing and not doing my job.

That's not a 'fair use policy' that's just plain ridiculous.

I've seen the comments here from agents trying to explain it and it just seems like you don't want customers. Well, you've lost one and hopefully others reading this will never join.

Hi Laura,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience, however there are some important clarifications.

Your data is not being “cut off” arbitrarily. As per the agreed plan terms, tethering is not permitted, and usage outside these terms can result in restrictions being applied to the service. This is clearly outlined in our policy and forms part of the service conditions accepted at the time of purchase.

Our plans are designed for personal mobile usage on a handset. When usage falls outside of this scope, it may impact service continuity, which appears to be the case here.

We understand this may not align with your requirements, but these terms are in place to ensure fair usage across the network. If you require unrestricted tethering, a provider that explicitly supports it would be more suitable.

If you still need assistance, our support team remains available to provide guidance.

Sid

So Close, But so far

After my last good impression of TalkHome I recieved their email saying VOLTE and WIFI calling were now included, they offered me a great deal to switch. Would have saved me £2.50 a month over my current provider.

I received the sim and put it in my phone, everything worked as it should straight away. The online system was quite useful in everything you need. Even put my PAC in to transfer my number over. I also liked the fact there was a cancel button to use for me to back out of it!

It wasn't untill reading further that it shows Tethering is not allowed, and any tethering will result in suspended services.

Tethering is important for my family as it keeps my daughter online on her tablet when travelling with me, and secondly it is a life line for me if my home internet should go down.

I can't risk having my phone service suspended for tethering devices from my phone.

I have spoken with customer service who told me the Sim could only be in a phone. So didn't understand my point that my daughter tethers her tablet to my phone.
Then when explained, said to just "try it" - which I did, I can confirm tethering works but again I don't want to end up getting my account suspended.

I have asked that the account be cancelled and this has been agreed. I wasn't filled with confidence this will go through though!

I beleive TalkHome Mobile are the only provider to not allow you to tether. If you have a certain data allowance it should be up to you how you use it!

But for this I would have happily switched over and was in process of. I strongly suggest you review this restriction asyou may end up losing more customers due to it!

Last suggestion - somewhere online it states that TalkHome are identical to EE but they don't include Band20. There is nothing on their site which mentions whether they do or do not include this. Being a Rural user I think this is important for me too and clarification on that would have been appreciated

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your detailed feedback we’re pleased to hear there were aspects of the service you found positive, including the setup process and account management.

We’d like to clarify that tethering (hotspot usage) is not permitted under our current plan terms. This forms part of our Acceptable Usage Policy and is in place to ensure fair and consistent service performance for all customers. We understand that this may not suit everyone’s needs, particularly if tethering is important for your usage.

We also appreciate your feedback regarding the information provided by our customer service team, as well as the visibility of technical details such as network bands. This will be reviewed internally to improve clarity and consistency going forward.

We’re sorry that this has impacted your decision to continue with us, but we respect your choice and thank you for giving our service a try.

Dangerous procedures.

I have never know such an awful company. I lost my bank card so the payment didn't got through and all I got was an email which much have been sent almost immediately on cutting me off saying the payment hadn't gone through and to try another payment method. Of course, I was on holiday, trying to arrange to see a friend, with no way to contact them and couldn't use my maps to find them. Obviously I updated the payment method. This month I get no notification at all and they just seem to cut me off again. Its not even showing on their website that I had a contract. I rang for help and he just said he would have to get someone to ring me and to call back tomorrow, si another day with no service. You can't even ring customer services from your phone so another nightmare. The phone service seems a bit hit and miss too and the mobile data regularly seems to not work. This way of working is just dangerous. I only discovered the issue upon going to my local supermarket for the groceries and realised I couldn't open the app or pay! At least contact people and let them know!

Hi Kay,

We regret any inconvenience caused.

Please note that your service was not suspended; however, you were unable to make calls or use mobile data because your plan was not renewed due to a failed payment, and there was no available SIM credit at the time.

We do send automated notifications to the registered contact email when this happens, please check all the folders of the email as sometime email is marked as SPAM and keep our email address as trusted sender list.

To avoid similar issues in the future, we recommend keeping your payment details up to date and having sufficient funds available on your bank account to renew the plan and ensuring sufficient credit on your SIM to avoid interruptions.

If you ever experience issues reaching us by phone, our live chat or email support is available as an alternative to get assistance quickly.

Too many problems - I've switched to Giffgaff now

I have previously given Talk Home Mobile (THM) 5-stars. I've been with them for over 3 years. However, some problems are apparent. Normal phone calls are often poor quality & break up. When making calls it also often fails to connect or fails to ring. The signal has also gone recently, and therefore my smartphone is unusable (no Internet). There's also been outages over the years where there's been no service at all (no calls/texts or data).

The most recent problem was another outage - today. Currently I cannot receive or send texts - or use the Internet / apps (despite having paid an £8 monthly fee!). I was doing online banking earlier today. My bank sent me verification codes by text (to verify online debit card payments) - but my mobile is not receiving them due to the outage (so I could NOT approve the payment). This was the FINAL STRAW & I've arranged a switch to GIFFGAFF. I purchased a GIFFGAFF SIM at ALDI for 49p. Talk Home Mobile say the outage will be over in 4-5 working days. Okay if your online debit card purchases can wait 4-5 working days!

Another downside to Talk Home Mobile is, if you run out of Data, your smartphone just stops working! In other words, no Internet - it changes to a non-smart phone. You get no warning of low data. If you want to buy more data, you have to connect to WIFI. If there's no WIFI, you've had it, & you will have to make do with just calls & texts. You also cannot renew your monthly pack early (if you run out of data) - you have to buy a data bolt-on to get you through to your renewal date - this is not good.

At my flat, I found that the O2 signal is very good. GIFFGAFF uses the O2 network. GIFFGAFF currently have a Monthly rolling 40GB Data for £10 offer - I've selected this. I tried the Giffgaff SIM at my flat & it's working fine for Data, calls & texts. My mobile number transfers to Gifgaff in a few days time (I arranged this in my Giffgaff online account).

Hi Scott,

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback, and for your loyalty over the past 3 years we genuinely appreciate it.

We’re sorry to hear that your recent experience did not meet expectations. Intermittent call quality, connectivity issues, and temporary service disruptions can sometimes occur due to network conditions and factors outside our direct control, but we fully understand how impactful this can be especially when it affects essential services like banking verification.

Regarding data usage, when allowances are fully consumed, services will pause until a renewal or bolt-on is applied. This is part of how PAYG plans operate, and we recognise your feedback around notifications and flexibility this is something we are continuously reviewing to improve the overall experience.

We’re sorry to see you leave, but we respect your decision and are glad you’ve found a provider that suits your needs. Your feedback is valuable and will be taken into consideration as we continue to improve our services.

If you ever decide to return in the future, we’d be happy to welcome you back.

Package allowances changed after 3 weeks.

Signed up to a SIM only package with Talk Home Mobile 3 weeks ago on an offer of 5GB data and UNLIMITED minutes and SMS.

This last week been trying to port my current number over but constantly told the update is still ongoing.

Today I notice in my account that I have 5GB data with 3000 minutes and 3000 SMS not the UNLIMITED I signed up for. Called customer services only to be told some rubbish about 'policy' and that "some customers use 900 mins and some 500 minutes" and that "not to worry the plan renews every month" but if I use all the (new) allowance within the month I can call and "they will help me". I said I signed up to UNLIMITED minutes and SMS not for me to call and ask for more if I want them. The reply was to chat on website and was cut off.

This is the first time I've come across the above and am surprised that Talk Home Mobile think they can get away with this.

I'm thinking of leaving them and would never ever recommend or use them again.

Hi Khan,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

To clarify, there has been no change to your plan. Your package still includes unlimited minutes and SMS as originally agreed. The display of 3000 minutes and 3000 texts reflects our acceptable Usage Policy applied to unlimited services it is not a reduction or restriction of your plan. These thresholds are set well above typical personal usage and are in place to prevent misuse, not to limit normal use.

We have also clearly defined the term “unlimited” within the terms and conditions, including the application of fair usage limits.

Hi Adrian,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience.

For your plan to renew, the payment must be successfully processed by your bank. If a payment fails, a retry option is made available so you can complete it and restore your service.

We’ve also identified that the SIM is being used in a car head unit. As per our terms and conditions, Talk Home SIM cards are intended for use in mobile devices only. Using the SIM in other devices may impact service functionality.

We recommend using the SIM is used in a compatible mobile device to avoid further issues.

Time to switch

My PAYG plan ended for no good reason with no warning, then I discovered I was spending fortunes on calls. Their doublethink response was "Your PAYG plan and auto top-up settings were functioning as per the agreed terms... No overcharges have occurred, and the billing is accurate". Will be switching to 1p Mobile.

Edit: thank you for reply, but this shouldn't have happened with auto top-up 'functioning as per the agreed terms'. Auto top-up was indeed working as it activated to cover the expensive calls, and did activate to cover PAYG shortfall until now. It's not unreasonable expect a notification that the plan has stopped for whatever reason, and I'm now on the most expensive plan, and I should intervene to correct it. Quietly ripping me off for a few calls is a pyrrhic victory for yourselves as my money will now go elsewhere for the time being.

Hi Tom,

We have reviewed your account details.

Your PAYG plan Penny Pro was removed because the minimum requirement of £5 spend every 30 days was not met, which is a condition for keeping the plan active. Once this condition is not maintained, the plan does not renew and standard PAYG rates apply this is outlined in the agreed terms.

We appreciate this may not have been expected, but the plan and billing have operated correctly in line with those terms.
