Brilliant

Very detailed maps (gates, park benches), extremely good value and a doddle to install thanks to very precise instructions. Can't fault them

Excellent…

Was a bit nervous about buying the map as Im new to this and the prices were so much cheaper than Garmin.
However Martin could not have been more helpful providing advice before Id even purchased, and when I had an issue adding the map to my device he called me within minutes of my email to advise where I was going wrong. 5 star customer service and the map was excellent as well.

Top notch (but read the instructions!)

My Garmin Montana (original "600") is long in the tooth but still does the job. As a "techie" and OpenStreetMap contributor I've for many years generated my own maps for it. However, Talky Toaster's maps hit a sweet spot of convenience and detail level that hugely improves my life.

I opted for a year-long subscription to the British Isles maps, and I love that I can now simply download an updated version every month or so and stay up-to-date (especially as I've been working to improve the maps in my local area!).

So long as you're willing to read the instructions carefully before you start (or are technically-confident enough not to need to) you can't do better.

Faultless Service

Faultless Service. The maps are great and I would have no hesitation in recommending Martin. The instructions are clear and concise and if followed will provide you with great quality maps. The maps are very accurate and I have had many hikes using them with not a single issue over many hundreds of hiked miles.

Great Products, Great Prices and Great Customer Service

Not only great products at a great price, but also an owner who really cares about his customers.
I have phoned Martin on a few occasions - even on a Saturday when he was out walking his dog - and he not only answered my question, but later that day rang me to see how I got on with it.

You do not see that sort of customer care very often. So well done to Martin and Talkytoaster.

Fantastic map and great service

I purchased a map for my Garmin device a few weeks ago. It was the British Isles Look and Feel map.
The ordering process was easy and installing my map was a cinch. There are even videos on the excellent website showing you how to do it.
I have been using my GPS over the last few weeks whilst hill-walking and this map is simply fantastic. Incredible detail and accuracy. Has saved me going down the wrong path several times and showed paths which weren’t even on my OS paper map!
Would definitely recommend TalkyToasters maps. The quality is amazing. And the price? I would happily pay a lot more.

TT Look n Feel for Garmin Fenix 6x Pro.

Downloaded British Isles TT look n feel map for a Garmin Fenix 6x pro. The maps are very good, clear to read, and an improvement on the pre-installed maps.
Very impressed with the step by step instructions given on how to install the maps, complete with screenshots, and also links to talkytoaster YouTube instruction videos, all useful for a technophobe like me.
From reading other reviews here and elsewhere, in the unlikely event that support is needed, Talkytoaster seem very approachable and ready to help and advise, which gives me confidence in their products.

Gwyn, this site is for reviews of our services/products not for asking technical or other questions about the maps and compatibility, you should use the Contact Talkytoaster page on any of our sites to do that instead of here.

Anyway, to answer your question: No the maps are not suitable for use on a Nuvi for hiking, as 1. the Nuvi is a Car Sat-Nav with very limited battery life (2 hours or less, usually) and 2. The routing on a Nuvi is designed for road navigation, and not for off-road navigation. You really should use a handheld Garmin GPS device, such as an Etrex 20 or later, Oregon 600 or later, GPSMap62 or later, etc. as these are designed for hiking and other off-road activities.

Hope this helps?

Years of satisfaction.

I have been using Talkytoaster for several years now and would highly recommend the maps offered. For those not computer savvy they are a bit fiddly to install both to Basecamp and GPS. I followed the instructions included and wrote down my own so I could easily install next time. Full routing over roads and paths is excellent, a few hiccups using OSM, but this not a criticism of Talkytoaster. If you only use the free OSM, PLEASE donate and don't copy to sell or Martin will revise his policy.

Brilliant maps

So impressed with the detail of these maps. I purchased the forerunner 945 thinking it had detailed map installed but it doesn’t. I had a look around and came across talkytoaster. I’m not very good with computers but Martin has lots of information and videos to help. I struggled getting the file onto my watch but Martin went out his way to basically do it for me, he was so helpful. Thanks Martin, top service

Decided to buy a Garmin Fenix 6XPro

Decided to buy a Garmin Fenix 6XPro, I knew the pre installed maps from Garmin did not feature contour mapping, forums mentioned good things about TT, they were right.
Followed Martins YouTube instructions and downloaded British Isles 1.50, could not be easier, works perfectly with awesome detail.
Thanks for the service, please keep up the good work.
Highly Recommended.

Fantastic service

I recently purchased a Garmin Oregon 700 and had contacted TT for map advice through the live chat on their website, Martin decided it was better to call and within minutes he had sorted me with relevant info to help me out, I purchased a map from TT and had it within few days ,simple plug n play micro sd card, I am over the moon with how good the detail is in the map and he easy to use all down to TT guidance, thank you so much Martin.

I had trouble downloading the maps

I had trouble downloading the maps, mainly through lack of experience in doing these things. Martin was brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble! He spent some time talking me through the whole process, including checking that everything was working on my watch.
This was the most satisfactory service I have ever encountered using any supplier on the web. I wish Martin and his business every success in these difficult times.

Great product and service.

This week I signed up to a subscription with Martin at Talkytoaster for the TT1:50K Look n Feel British maps for use on my Garmin Fenix 5X watch and Garmin Basecamp on my MacBook. I would highly recommend both the actual map products and the fantastic service and advice provided by Martin. Both were excellent and the products installed and working well.

Excellent product and service support

I bought a subscription for the TT1:50K Look n Feel British maps for use on my Garmin Fenix 6x watch and Garmin Basecamp.
My objective was to gain a higher quality and more detailed map than the default one pre-loaded onto the watch (and Basecamp).
The TT maps exceeded my expectations in detail and functionality - they are excellent, a massive improvement, and work perfectly on my watch.
Equally impressive though, is the superb customer support and service support. Martin happily and patiently gave his time and expertise to guide me through a couple of questions I had regarding installation (which is, incidentally very easy!). He promptly answered the 'phone (even on a Sunday!) and, on the occasion that he was unable to do so, he very quickly returned my call within minutes, even without me having to leave a voicemail!
Overall then - an excellent product, first class service support, and highly recommended.
Tony

How to transform a GPS unit!

While not a mad keen Hillwalker/Geoacher/Biker (my friends would laugh at just the concept of me doing such things), I decided to invest in a refurbished Garmin Oregon 700 ahead of a trip to Snowdon. Fortunately, ahead of purchase, I found a review which mentioned Talkytoaster. The pre-loaded Garmin map was, shall I say, "completely underwhelming" when the GPS arrived!!!!!! I'd have sent the GPS back I think had I not learned of Talkytoaster. A quick order in to Martin and a UK Topo downloaded for virtually nothing and, bingo, a machine transformed!!!

Follow Martin's excellent tutorial videos (I didn't to begin with and missed one very small step - serves me right!) and, in no time, I was up and running with a map which, quite simply, has transformed the Unit - beyond recognition! The desciption of how the TT 1:50K Look n Feel DEM Map operates on the TT website says it all so not much else to say apart from "perfect"!

I'm really looking forward to hitting the hills with a TT map with me and to explore the map "in the field" as it were but, somehow, I don't think I'll be disappointed. You know, I may even test it out with a quick walk to my "local" for a beer this evening!!!! ;-)
