Poor Client relations
After 50 years with T. Allen & Associates and its predecessors I was dropped as a client due to expressing my dissatisfaction with the service I received for the 2022 tax returns. The problem was not due to the actual preparation of the return but to subsequent sloppy handling of it and blatant fabrication of a story to mitigate the circumstances in getting the return back to me for signature. Basically, the return was sent to a wrong address, but no record was kept so the packet could not be traced.
Upon inquiring for the delay in receiving the 2022 returns, I was told that it had been returned by USPS to Allen. In finally receiving my materials, they could not tell me why what I received was not my original W-2s or the address to which the returns had originally been mailed to. Simple reason: the original packet had never been returned. Essentially, I had been lied to.
Having forgotten that I was dropped as a client, I sent them material for the 2023. It was mailed back telling me to find someone else. Allen sent email copies verifying that they no longer wished me as a client and that they would return my check for the 2022 returns. I checked my records and found that they had cashed my check. So I sent a letter, apologized for my poor choice of words in criticizing his staff, and said I would appreciate receiving the remuneration. Well, a few weeks later and no check. Obviously, Allen chose to renege on his initial words.
