I have been trying to help my 80 year…

I have been trying to help my 80 year old father deal with my mother's estate after her very sudden passing and Tangerine has been by far the worst experience. The person assigned as our estate account manager has completely ignored my numerous polite voicemails and emails asking for some assistance. Zero response after two weeks.

Dispute Charge, never received credit

There was a fraudulent transaction that I disputed on my credit card. It has been over 4 months and the Tangerine has not given me the temporary credit they promised. Every time I call, and I mean every time, I am told I will receive it in 3 business days. And nothing. Still waiting. At this point, I am scared I won't get my money back for a transaction I did not make. Their credit card security department is a joke.

God their customer service is awful

I’ve never felt so helpless dealing with a bank’s customer service. Despite explaining my situation multiple times, the representatives just repeated their own scripted responses, which didn’t even make sense after my explanation.

IT'S NOT A BANK!

Tangerine will hold a normal cheque longer than 5 days, usually 10-15 days because it is an online bank. They do not accept wire transfers due to same being an online bank with a code. Useless!! Tangerine is not a BANK!! Tangerine, and any other online bank, does not make your life easier - it's pure hell with them. Beware of Tangerine and online banks. Stay with a normal bank!

Tangerine have access to fraudsters

I have been a loyal customer for years. Today I had a fraud situation and I called them, locked my accounts and set up a further password for added security. Despite all of this, and despite the fraudsters not knowing my password, tangerine gave full access to all of my accounts, therefore causing them to be drained

I’m have cancer and no food because of Tangerine

I’ve been with Tangerine with everything direct deposit to them for about 8 years. I currently had trouble getting my Disibility income so received a check instead of direct deposit. They put it on hold but refused to release it. I had a government check out on hold before but they released it that time. This time they are making my rent late, I can’t eat and all my bills will be late. I cannot work anymore and will not be able to afford these late fees. I have cancer and I’m without food. According to law this check should have been released quickly because it’s sensitive but they don’t care.

I need to authenticate my card every…

I need to authenticate my card every time I book a flight. This means waiting upwards of an hour for the Tangerine rep to call me. This has cost me preferred seating and at times my preferred flight. When they do call they're extremely slow.

Avoid TAngerine

Absolutely avoid this company at all costs, we had to get a taxi to the office due to no vans also the tel no wasn’t correct so couldn’t contact them, however they wanted another €450 to take the car away we argued for about 30mins and all they said was it was extra Portuguese tax absolute rubbish we complained through Auto Europe who were the agents but we never received a final invoice and where left in the lurch as they eventually said we had signed it - but signed for what? there is no such thing as we had paid the local tax’s which was stated on the confirmation email from Auto Europe just A COMPLETE SCAM AVOID TANGERINE AT ALL COSTS!

Great service, 8+ years user

Have been using their service for 8+ years. Saved about $2000 in bank fees over the term, No fees is amazing!
It’s true that they don’t have branches. But who needs branches today when everything is online? Also you can use Scotiabank ATM’s for free as well.
Most of the things can be done through their app, which is super convenient. For other rare things, we can always get a hold of their amazing customer service, always answers calls on time. Today they answered my call within 10 seconds and resolved my issue promptly.
For other things like bank draft, they can mail it to you, and they even have next day delivery options as well. It was convenient when I had to buy a house. Direct deposit, auto payments, and even stop payments are super easy and straight forward (and of course, free!)
Highly recommend their service and will definitely stay with them for as long as they stay the same!!

Tangerine's Fraud Team literally accused me of criminal activity 💀

I entered my PIN into a compromised ATM that ate my card. Later that day two fraudulent checks were deposited by a third party, and $600 was withdrawn, both at a Scotia ATM.

I called Tangerine support to rectify this matter, and while initially friendly, when I called for an update a day later the agent informed me my account was permanently closed and directly accused me of check fraud.

I feel like I'm living in the Twilight zone. Tangerine's fraud team legitimately do not seem to grasp that I stand to gain absolutely nothing from enacting this elaborate scheme, other than jeopardizing my access to banking services, my career, and my permanent residence in Canada.

Even if I successfully pulled off this alleged $600 heist, I'd literally stand to lose money. All I'd be doing is overdrafting the account and incurring fees, which would then be covered by the direct deposit I was due to receive literally 2 days later.

Not only is it insulting to casually just accuse people of actual crimes, there isn't even a logical basis for the accusation. At least in my version of events there's some guy out there who's $600 up, in Tangerine's version of events I just decided to up one day and scam myself for no reason.

Just crazy. Bear in mind I didn't even ask for the overdrafted amount to be reimbursed, I just explained the situation, and asked for my card to be cancelled and a new one mailed out.

Accusing your own customers of crimes is absolutely crazy work. Just gonna run TD their $11 a month. Hopefully it buys me a less abysmal experience 💀

Cannot be trusted

Cannot be trusted, card randomly don't work, accounts always get locked out, they would freeze ability to etransfer, each time you would have to call and have them figure out the issues but none of them speak English or know what they are doing. You call for support but they have to call someone else and it takes hours to fix any issues.

Customer support has shitty attitudes almost every single one of them with the most broken English. I was not able to close my account, they made it impossible between their incompetence and broken English, I gave up and left the account open with no pre authorized debits or credits to the account. Somehow it racked up a 45$ NSF that they never told me about and they CLOSED my fiancées account and took her 6 hours on the phone multiple employees to have them return her money minus MY now 90$ NSF. We did not have a joint account, we had 2 separate accounts.

Horrible, untrustworthy, sketchy, unprofessional, not English.

New policies on your PIN is ridiculous

New policies on your PIN is ridiculous. I got locked out after a transaction went bad, I even had to change my PIN and couldn't go back to the original. Got locked out again after 1 attempt on my online banking and again had to change my PIN again. I'm tired of the company not having better protocols. A simple im sorry doesn't cut it. We aren't informed about policy changes

Worst service I’ve ever experienced

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. The customer service staff only speaks Portuguese, despite this being an international business serving people from all over the world. The representative couldn’t explain where to wait or how long it would take. There were no signs, no guidance, and no one to assist. I’ve been waiting for my car for over 50 minutes now. This is unbelievable , I didn’t know a business could be handled so poorly.

They hide policies, give zero transparency, and make you feel like YOU are the problem.
This bank is SHADY and DISHONEST.
I strongly advise against conducting any business with Tangerine !!!!

I've had two mortgages with Tangerine

I've had two mortgages with Tangerine, both of which were paid off without ever missing a single payment. We are now looking at buying a property, and I contacted Tangerine to get pre-approved so I would know what kind of house I could get.

Turns out, Tangerine no longer does preapprovals but instead requires you to go through the approval process once you make an offer on a property.

Considering how slow their processes have become and how poorly they respond, that seems like a really bad idea in cases where you need to respond quickly to a house deal.

Other Canadian banks still offer this service - some even online. For me, Tangeine has outlived its purpose - time to move on.

Very bad banking company

Very bad banking company, they cancelled my account without any emails or letters saying they were going to end there client relationship with me and then when I called they said it was because I was in the negative for less then a month, I have direct deposit for my payments so now I have to wait for it to bounce back and now I am late on my bills because of Tangerine.

I used to love this bank

I used to love this bank, I thought I was getting a good service for no cost. Turns out they have no clue what they are doing. I've now had 3 cards just up and stop working for no reason at a gas station. And no I didn't use tap because that is apparently not a thing with gas stations and tangerine! Just straight up doesn't complete the transaction, then call customer service and all I get is a hands thrown up and "we don't see any declines" must be them. Meanwhile, I am the only one at the place having issues. Definitely must be them. Even if it was, give me some kind of explanation! Going to be trying to move my money to a different account. This has happened 1 too many times.
