Having read the 1 star reviews I had the same problem, was promised at least 1500 pounds instead got 400, waited over a year for this, now got a bill for 100 pound for not filling a self assessment in, even though I asked to be taken off self assessment, more hassle than it’s worth, they sound very professional but I think they missed my window and went for a different year.

Do not believe this company or use them, I was promised a rebate of £3600 a year ago, I was then requested to fill out a self assessment by HMRC, TAXHOOT told me that the information the provided superseded this and not to do anything, have since been handed a £3200 bill from HMRC!.
They have not responded to an email since February.
This is a SCAM!, the company should be shut down and looked into!. i will be seeking advice on this matter.

Do not use this company they promise the world and say you are due 1000's back over the last 4 years, and it's all lies. I did get back 1 year, and I was not even worth all of the effort and time it took. As for the other years, that now seems impossible to get. My friend also used them and was told he was due a lot more than me, but somehow, we both ended up with the same payment down to the Penny. If you want to claim iv since found out its easy enough to do it yourself

Please do not use this company. They knowingly give you false information on what you can claim and back claim for 4 years. HMRC have been known to payout for first year but then do a check on other years and you discover Taxhoot lied and you are not entitled to make a claim and you have to pay back the money AND the commission paid to Taxhoot. Please do not put yourself in that position as you won’t get the money back from Taxhoot

I am still waiting for my money.
I was promised over £1000 after they take their hefty cut of 30% +VAT. I can see that HMRC processed the payment to my agent (TaxHoot) 3 weeks ago. But taxhoot are not responding to emails or calls and have not paid me a penny. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Don't fall for this scam.

Don’t refer any 1 you won’t get paid out your 100 pound.and then they don’t email you back

Don't fall for the refer others and get £100 each referral scheme, load of rubbish still waiting on my referral payments 5 months later due to the 'volume' of payments.

AVOID- Elaborate scam I foolishly referred other people I had checked on trustpilot and it seemed legit but they claimed funds on my behalf without actually paying me anything and now aren't responding to emails with no further communication and to top it all off I was sent an ecard from them at Christmas with £25 to charity. These people should be in jail preying on honest hard working folk.

Got some of the money they told me that I would but have not received the remaining amount.
No response to emails or phone calls.
Avoid at all costs.

SCAMMERS! Take your money & never pay you! Will dissolve in next few months then start again! Pop up company. Do not use!!!!

do not fall for this fake company they filed the claim for me i could see the money sitting in the my tax account and after 6 months money disappeared i sent too many email no respond i have someone in the family working for HMRC they are going to start invest this company

Their customer service is disgraceful, they made a successful claim for me, took their fees and the HMRC have paid them my balance too, now they won't respond to me and ignore all my emails and calls, absolutely disgraceful and fraudulent company

After finding out they had led me on and lied to me to get their fee, they now wont respond to just discuss the situation. They are really helpful when you are going to make a claim, then the moment they have their fee they're gone

They were great to start with, they made regular contact right up until the claim was paid out. I have just claimed the remainder from the IR website but it was paid to Taxhoot instaed of my account, they have had the payment for 4 weeks now and I have tried phoning but they never answer, I have emailed a number of times and when they respond they just say that they are checking their system to see if the payment has been made, I've sent them proof it has been paid but they are not interested now they have my money and they have no means of making a complaint on their website. They have my money now and are showing no urgency in paying back wahts owed to me.

I was contacted by Taxway in May this year and began a claim which they said would take 10-12 weeks however in July I was contacted by email to say they had merged with Taxhoot and was given new contact details for the new company. Fast forward 4 months and I have had no contact from the new company, contact number goes straight to voicemail so left messages and I’m still waiting on a response despite 5 phone calls. At this moment in time I would question the authenticity of the highly positive reviews because anyone that I know who have been referred to the company at the same time as me have not received any payments as of yet either

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Tax hoot contacted HRMC and got the money but I wasn’t paid a DIME!! I have been calling and sending emails for over 8 weeks now, no response whatsoever. They have stopped picking my calls and they don’t respond to my emails anymore. Don’t believe the positive reviews on here, they are all FAKE AND BOT GENERATED!!! For a company that charges over 30% I am so disappointed. Bloody SCAMS!!! I am coming for y’all, I am so collecting my money. You absolutely cannot steal my hard earned money and think you can walk away. FRAUDS, SCAMMERS, LAZY THIEVES!!!

Avoid referring people, I have been told twice I would receive my referral money, they are quick enough to get the referrals in but paying out for referral commission is a different story. Highly recommend not referring anybody

The start of the process was incredibly easy and stress free, since then I have had very little communication from anyone and has been myself chasing. I received confirmation that funds were received on the 31-10-24 and payment would be made in 2 days….. still nothing. I email and call constantly but nothing and no replies, has been very stressful and concerning as things become more expensive this money would be an huge help but you get the impression once they have your money their interest is lost. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone!

I had a very disappointing experience with Taxhoot. At the beginning of the process, they assured me that my tax refund would take about a month. However, the entire process stretched on for several months with little to no updates, despite multiple follow-ups on my end. Every time I reached out, they seemed to push the timeframe further back.

Two weeks ago, they finally received my refund, but they haven’t contacted me since, and they’ve ignored every email I’ve sent asking about my money. For a service that takes a hefty 36% of the refund, I expected a lot more transparency and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience has left me feeling frustrated and misled. I wouldn’t recommend Taxhoot to anyone looking for a reliable tax service.

Fast service would use again.
