Think twice before proceeding

Having seen the review for tax hoot prior to requesting their services I was confident it would be a stressless experience, as with most tax matters this can be stressful for most people even the most experienced.

In this instance taxhoot had failed to keep me fully informed throughout the process and diligently answer my tax code queries promptly. My first query took 8 weeks to be answered, it was finally answered by taxhoot customer service. It was at this point they had highlighted the person who was dealing with my query was not the correct person to deal with it. Having prompted jack numerous times he didn’t mention or confirm the correct person to discuss the issue with. The issue was finally answered however not satisfied. Taxhoot had still failed to define the issue at hand and have not responded since following up with them 21/08/24.

Aside from the above minor issue, once again taxhoot had failed to diligently provide me with all the necessary information regarding my tax account and the process.

Taxhoot had issued an email to me confirming the rebate amount due, the amount received was significantly less than that previously advised which led me to question why. Taxhoot had noticed a HMRC refund amount pending which will be issued by HMRC directly to me. They did not notify me of this when first noticed which I assume had been after they confirmed the rebate amount. They had failed to tell me prior that this amount will be removed/disregarded from their certified rebate amount until I queried the less amount received.

Only after requesting Taxhoot review their fee for services which was 30% of the rebate amount did they confirm that their fees are based on the amount received by HMRC, again they did not convey this until I raised the issue.

I would not recommend their services to anyone based on their lack of communication and diligence in handling customer queries.

So from my last review of Taxhoot on…

So from my last review of Taxhoot on the 13th of June, (scroll through and you’ll find it) I was told it would be another week, so the 20th of June ish, now I’m still waiting now because apparently all payments got returned and now still nothing, on the 22nd of August I was told it would be landing in my account on the 23rd of August, then on that day was told it’s not now so should be Tuesday or Wednesday, and to make things a little worse to really make you want to never use them again I’ve just had another phone call that it could be Thursday now, it’s an absolute joke, worst experience ever and I will never use these again, and certainly won’t be recommending them, I’ll go back to Rift refunds from next year now, would t let me put zero stars so I’ve had to give them the 1

I was sceptical initially

I was sceptical initially, I read the reviews and the process seemed a bit mysterious. But, four months later, after having forgotten about opening the claim, £1100 dropped into my account from Taxhoot. My only real involvement was the initial 15 minute phone call and to pass on the authorisation code I later received from HMRC.
Happy for Taxhoot to take their cut for doing the work, as it was something I would never have the time or knowledge to do
