A great calendar app

In my experience, Teamup has been much better, more useful, and easier to work with than Google Calendar.

I have used Teamup privately and professionally from shortly after it was first offered. We use it at work for scheduling public classes and events as well as tracking our internal meetings - and I love the option to have it everything on a master calendar of calendars. I also have a private Teamup calendar that I use with all my family members.

I find that Teamup shares calendars and schedules quickly and easily and is equally useful for business or family members. You can create multiple groups of calendars that are shown or hidden at will, able to be edited or not, and each grouping will have an individual web link. Individual items can be shared via a web page, email, social media, and more.

Teamup Calendar's focus is on being a calendar - with a lot of great features that are simple to access and use from any platform and can be integrated into other options if you need it. I am delighted that Teamup has kept this calendar focus over the years - it is exactly what I have needed and what I still want.

Dates with Mates

An excellent shared calendar. Easy to set up. Loads of Features even in the free version. We use it to keep track of our band members availability for gigs. Even allows map location of events. A Brilliant App.

Caution! Significant security issues...

We used TeamUp for an internal calendar in our team (up to 15 users) for some years paying $10/month which is reasonable. However, a recent incident made us review the security of the system (website and iOS TeamUp app).

The result was shocking! A change of master password some months ago had no effect and the apps would continue to access the service for months thereafter without the need to update the password.

Equally, access to the calendar feeds are very hard to remove.

We finally resorted to deleting all calendar entries manually, then deleting the calendars themselves, and finally closing the account. It took many hours for the apps to stop interacting with the calendars that should no longer have existed.

We emailed their support to report all details and three days later, they have only tried to re-enable our account (apparently the calendar was still available to them... erm... GDPR laws?) and they even took payment again for another month two days after closing the account.

We were naive about the service for years. If you have any need for any level of security, I recommend you thoroughly test their service before committing. Such a shame; we were loyal customers.

Reply from Teamup Calendar

Nick, I am really sorry to read that we were not able to answer your feedback to your satisfaction. There are a few things I would to clarify.

You imply in your review that we didn't reply timely and adequately to your support request. I checked the records. We replied to you within less than one day and in several follow-up emails provided very detailed feedback and guidance on how to proceed. You ended the conversation by requesting that we delete your calendar, with which we complied.

Regarding the security issue that you reported, there is a fundamental misunderstanding of how access control to Teamup calendars works. Teamup calendars are made for groups of users. One calendar can have many users, each with their own access permissions. You deleted your own access to the calendar and assumed that this would delete the calendar itself and prevent all other users from accessing the calendar. That is not how access control to Teamup Calendar or any multi-user system in general works. At Teamup, there is no such thing as a "master account", as you write. All users with administration access jointly control the calendar. Deleting a calendar requires the explicit deletion of the calendar by a user with admin access. This can be done in the calendar Settings as we tried to explain in our support conversation.
To use an analogy: If you destroy the key to your house, this will not prevent other inhabitants of the house to enter with their key, nor will it end the rental agreement for your house, nor will it destroy the house itself.

You wrote that we took payment after closing the account. As explained above, you deleted your access to the calendar but not the calendar. For that reason, the regular monthly subscription payment was charged while we were in discussion. After you requested the deletion of your calendar, we promptly refunded you the last payment and informed you about the refund before you posted your review here.
In general, we have a very generous refund policy and even refund past months if a calendar has not been used or if the deadline for unsubscription has been missed by just a few days.
