Delay in credit refund at the end of contract, but after a quick call, Manny and the team sorting this for me straight away. Appreciate good customer service

About Bunch
Written by the company
Using innovative technology we are able to simplify people’s everyday lives by bunching ordinary, household bills into one platform and one monthly predictable bill.
We have created a selection of personalised packages to suit our differing customer needs. Meaning we’re able to help all our customers from students, to renters to homeowners.
Through our easy-to-use platform, customers are able to pick and choose what products they want to bunch into their package with options such as energy, super-fast broadband, water, contents insurance and lots more.
If our customers want to split their bills with other bill-payers they are able to do so (whether that be housemates or a partner). This allows our customers to have individual, personal liability and stops them being affected if others in the household have issues making payments. This helps to protect our customers and ultimately remove another layer of bill stress.
It’s important to us that our customers spend less time dealing with the hassle of bills and more time doing what they love. So at Bunch, we do all we can to make managing household finances easy.

BLOOD SUCKING SCOUNDRELS
These guys are scam artists who do not want you to leave them. I had a contract with them for two years and when I switched to my new supplier in June 2025 they told me to make a final payment and they send me my final bill. They sent me my final bill and credit was deposited into my bank account. Three months down the line they come back saying I owe them. THE HELL I AM PAYING I got my final bill and got my change from you, I DONT OWE YOU
Stay well clear a very unprofessional company
0 stars if I could previous tenant was with this company asked for change of tenancy sent agreement heard nothing back, sent another email was asked to send tenancy agreement again in which I did heard nothing raised a complaint was asked to send tenancy agreement again as they have no record of this emailed it again to receive an email AGAIN to say they do not have a record of the tenancy agreement can I resend it I have no idea what energy tariff I am on as I do not have an account with them feel like I am on a merry go round so not bothering anymore legal advice has been sought Dispute resolution ombudsman will be contacted as they keep blocking my move to a more professional and better energy supplier that I have been with for many years at my previous home and I am dreading the cost of the final bill if I ever receive it from this company will try now with Tru Energy but don't hold much hope at least I can contact the energy ombudsman for this company can't with Bunch
At the start of our contract they took…
At the start of our contract they took over £100 extra out of my bank account which i then had to spend over 4 hours waiting for a phone call to be rudely told i would get my money back with no apology.
Then at the end of the year i got an email saying i would receive my outstanding credit owed within a month of the email, a month and a half later i have had no follow up despite emailing and calling multiple times.
Terrible experience with this company
Terrible experience with this company. If you are looking to use them. First thing make sure you know the utility companies they dump you with, especially their cancellation terms. If you bundle your water and tv license like i did, DONT, they will charge you cancellations fees for these too. i urge you to read the terms and conditions in full to make sure you're not being swindled like i was...(although i'm currently going through the energy ombudsman with them). Even if you make a complaint, they wont care and just repeat their policy without any compromise. AVOID.
Avoid
Avoid – charged again after cancellation
I cancelled my account and never actually used Bunch’s services. Despite the account having been cancelled for around a month, Bunch took another £300 from my bank account.
I have contacted them repeatedly and sent three emails asking for an explanation and a refund, but I have received no meaningful response.
Taking money from a customer after cancellation and then failing to respond when they try to resolve the issue is completely unacceptable. This has caused unnecessary stress and I have now had to dispute the payment with my bank.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Bunch.

Jordan in customer service was courteous, helpful and very clear.
Do any of you actually care?
I've been threatened with court action if I don't pay within 7 days for a property I moved out of a year ago...
They admitted my account ended 24th September last year (which took them 3 attempts to do by the way), and then messed up a refund and overpaid me. Yes, I will pay this if it means I never have to hear from your company ever again.
On top of this you have sent me another £300 bill for a period of time last year when I was in that property. The thing is you have already refunded me for those payments, so how does that make any sense at all.
Your company shouldn't exist. It's as simple as that. You are making peoples lives more difficult and masquerading as a legit company when your practices are criminal. I read from another user that they were paying you for water for an entire year and you had yet to even set up an account with Welsh Water...how can you get away with that? What were you doing with the money?
I have no idea what I am going to do if you chase me down for this false extra £300 bill...I am just so depressed from your company man, it's hell.
They charged me twice a month two…
They charged me twice a month two months in a row, and took 10 days to refund it both times, causing financial struggle for no reason but their error, and offered nothing to apologise for their mistake.
Once is a mistake, twice is ignorance. I cancelled the payments to bunch and switched providers and they are now charging me a £200.00 cancellation fee, I disputed this and they haven’t responded since, how can a cancellation fee stand if I’m cancelling due to your error?
The Bunch - AVOID AT ALL COSTS
The Bunch, countless times, have made things more stressful for us than is worth their service. The idea of paying all your bills in one go, sounds great. The execution of The Bunch’s service is not.
On initial set up, The Bunch did not process our account with Welsh Water correctly and so around Christmas time (when is was increasingly difficult to get in contact with The Bunch due to Christmas operating hours) we were left being hounded by Welsh Water for money we had already paid The Bunch. There is no out of hours support, and we ended up having to speak directly with Welsh Water ourselves to prevent any difficulty over what is supposed to be a nice festive period.
A few years on we are in a position where we no longer use The Bunch, however, they have been chasing us for misleading owed credit which they should have explained better at the end of the contract. After a lot of confusion, we have given up and accepted that they put us on a 3 month direct debit repayment of the supposed money owed. That isn’t where this story ends, The Bunch have relentlessly been emailing us about this money, even though they have begun the 3 month direct debit repayment. Over 2 weeks ago I received an email on a Friday afternoon, past 4pm, harassing me about the money owed. At the bottom of the email it said to call them between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday to discuss any issues. So I tried. Friday at 4:30pm. Did they answer? No. Was their office open? No. The phone lines are NOT available 9am to 5pm as stated in the email, but rather 10am to 4pm.
I then sent a long email, finalised with requesting a formal complaint be taken into action. I have not heard back regarding this email and have now, once again, on a Friday afternoon after 4pm received another harassment email from The Bunch where they are threatening to report my account to credit agencies and impact my credit score.
I have been repaying The Bunch on the 3 month direct debit that THEY set up. Yet they seem to think this isn’t enough and have been making this situation hell.
Under no circumstance would I ever recommend The Bunch as a service provider. They are a terrible company, who try and catch you out behind your back with no fair reason. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Handle your bills individually with direct providers, it’ll save you a lot of stress.
Update: 14/09 - I have tried to call The Bunch to handle this, as the formal complaint I submitted via email on 28/08 has been ignored. Do you think they have answered the phone? No. “Lines are closed Mon 14th to Fri 18th while the team are out charity fundraising”, I have never in my life received such horrendous customer service. DO NOT USE THE BUNCH.
Bureaucracy masking incompetence
A joke of an enterprise hiding incompetence behind bureaucracy. I have been using Bunch at my current address for just over a year now and they have added nothing but stress to my life. They have tanked my credit score and have taken no action to resolve this nor accountability for their failings. They don't care about you nor take you seriously. Do not use under any circumstances. Details below.
We agreed a contract which bunched our energy and water bills. We have been paying for this contract for over a year and they are still yet to even contact our water supplier. I wish this was hyperbole, I spoke with Thames water and they had never heard of bunch. I flagged this issue 6 months into our contract after receiving a bill from , where bunch said that they had "mistakenly cancelled" our water bill (without telling us I might add). Bunch told me not to worry, but next thing I knew I was getting more and more threatening overdue bills from Thames Water - they had done nothing to resolve the issue, with one of the customer service representatives noting that our request had been sitting in the inbox unactioned for 4 months. No explanation, just incompetence.
On top of this, they have not at any point taken these issues seriously. With every email reply taking 2+ weeks (up to a month at some points) and many of them contradicting each other, being told that they're sorry if I've experienced any inconvenience (as if I might not have needed to drink water in the last 12 months) starts to lose all meaning if nothing ever changes. 12 months in and their mythical water team still dont even know who I am. In my last call they asked whether I'd considered just paying Thames Water myself. The absolute cheek of them not only trying to waive their contractual obligations but their entire raison d'etre.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of their incompetence. Some examples, they charged us over £250 for a house we no longer lived in because they didnt check their emails within 2 weeks and they have an AI support line that doesnt know it's a support line. I love emailing customer support for it to say "you should probably contact customer support about that".
I have literally taken to guessing email addresses of people in the company to try and get them to do their job, the only remaining path I see is legal action.
If you're a bill bunching company and you cant pay a water company I may have to suggest closing up shop as you're clearly not up for the job.
Sort yourselves out you muppets.
Stay away from dealing with this company
My advice to anybody thinking of starting up an account with these people is absolutely stay away. They cold called my son who just started letting his first property and misled and sold him a contract that was absolutely overpriced to the standard energy tariff. They quoted him just under phoned a pound a month for electricity, gas and water for a small two bedroom flat. In my opinion these people are crooks and con artists. Please stay away from dealing with these people.
Absolute nightmare
Absolute nightmare. Shady practices and chasing and threatening messages after cancellation.
Still unresolved after over a year — now threatened with court action
I previously left a review in June regarding my ongoing dispute with Bunch Utilities. Unfortunately, several months later, the situation has still not been resolved.
Despite repeatedly raising concerns about the balance and asking for a clear explanation and breakdown of the charges, I have now received correspondence warning that Bunch may begin formal recovery proceedings and issue a court claim if payment is not agreed within seven days.
What concerns me most is that this is happening while the balance remains actively disputed and my complaint has still not reached a satisfactory resolution.
After more than a year of trying to resolve this, I would have expected the focus to be on properly investigating the disputed charges and providing the information I have repeatedly requested, rather than escalating recovery action.
I have now been given the opportunity to submit a further complaint, which I will be doing, but the length of time this has taken and the continued escalation has made the experience extremely stressful.
Based on my experience so far, I still cannot recommend Bunch Utilities.
The worst
Literally the most useless company. They make constant mistakes and then the customer service is non existent, both by phone and email. I tried to cancel my account because the service is so bad but they’ve continued to charge me and then not reply when I try to get in touch. So stressful and literally no upside, avoid at all costs

Apalling customer service
Apalling customer service , they dont respond to emails . When you eventually get through on the phone they make promises they dont deliver on , they tale people to Court without checking the facts and dont really add any value
best avoided
Would not recommend
Would not recommend. Had a very negative experience with this company. The communication is extremely poor with customer service not able to resolve issues. It seems ok for a while, until you need to cancel. Have been waiting for my final bill for several months and no reasonable explanation given. My advice would be, do your due diligence and sort your bills on your own. They are not actually making anything easier and you are likely being overcharged.
The worst company ever
The worst company ever. These people have no idea how to do anything. Everyone just says over the phone they will do something and then never does it. There is no accountability in this company. All they want is to bill you and take money without even you agreeing to it. They took a bill from me on a random date after setting up a payment plan on a agreed date. They had the audacity to not even call me or refund me until I called them and then they said they will refund and guess what no refund. Absolutely awful company. On top of it they go they will warn you if you go over the fair usage and none of them don't even what the fair usage is. And I got no warnings at all even though it stipulates in the contract that they would. I am definitely going to the ombudsman after they fail to try and resolute the complaint.

Only use as a last resort
The bunch would be useful for homeowners wanting to avoid hassle, but the monthly charges are opaque and very expensive - costs are almost 50% lower now than when we were billed
under the bunch.
There is also no clear breakdown of what you are paying, the provider you have been put on or even what type of rate.
The customer service is responsive, but beware that you are unable to access your gas and electricity invoices easily and don’t appear To be put on the best tariffs.
Unless you really want to avoid setting up your own contracts, avoid as you will be largely out of pocket.
