We have been providing quality fuels to the UK for over 90 years, taking pride in our heritage and expertise in the coal industry. To make our products more accessible, we created an online shop that is simple to use and easy to navigate, with our customers in mind.

Our History:
Since 1932, our family business has been thriving thanks to the late Jack Harrison’s vision. We are proud to say that our traditional family values have remained at the core of everything we do. Back in the day, we used to deliver coal to local homes using horses and carts. Although times have changed, the memories of those days remain with us, and we still cherish them. As the business grew, Jack’s son Geoff joined him on trips to the mine. It was on one of these trips that Geoff thought he was left behind and walked all the way to the mine! Such memories remind us of the hard work and dedication that went into building this business. As the years went by, all four of Jack’s sons joined the business, and we have since expanded our product range to meet the demands of the modern world.
Today, we employ a team of around 30 staff who work tirelessly to deliver modern, efficient fuels to homes, factories, hotels, farms, and all kinds of premises. We have harnessed technology to keep up with the needs of the 21st century and supply garage forecourts and shops with pre-packed fuels. We moved to our current location at the industrial estate in Milton in 1992, which allowed us to expand and modernise our business to meet current requirements. We are proud of our history and the legacy that Jack left behind. As we continue to grow and adapt to the ever-changing business landscape, we remain driven by the same values that have kept us going all these years. We are grateful to our loyal customers, and we look forward to serving them for many more years to come.

I have used ' The Coal Shop ' for several years , the fuel is well priced , always fresh ( unlike some other suppliers ) and is delivered promptly .. will carry on using them in the future.
Just wish the bags would carry themselves from the pallet to the coal store !!

Good quality product at competitive price
Good quality product at competitive price. Unfortunately despite pallets being well wrapped haulier managed to tip them over which made delivery late. But bags were restacked & delivered intact at later date. The coal shop are easy to contact, very helpful and obliging. I will definitely buy from them again.

Great Service
Order arrived on time. Order was dry and double wrapped for protection. The individual bags were also clean and dry. The delivery was quick and stress free.

Punitive returns policy - avoid this company
The pallet was too large to fit through my garden gate. I accept my mistake in not anticipating this. I had to refuse delivery as a result.
However, on my order worth £160, this company initially withheld £60 for delivery and only refunded the balance.
They had actually told me on the phone that the delivery charge withheld would be £50. Once challenged, they rectified it.
That said, a 30% withholding on the order price is in my opinion very punitive so I will never order from this company again nor will I recommend them.

As your order had been dispatched and the delivery had been attempted at the point you had requested to cancel your order, there would be a cancellation fee/return charge for this. This is because the pallet would not come back to us free of charge, and we would have been charged for that. Unfortunately, we would not cover the cost of returns.
We have a delivery section on our website that we encourage customers to read through before ordering that explains how the third party courier will deliver pallets and requirments needed for a sucessfull delivery. We also email this information over with the confirmation of your order. Our return policy on our website also explains this return charge.

Competitive price, easy to order & delivered.
Ordering logs was easy as weight guide is provided which allows for better price comparison than volume.
Can request a smaller delivery lorry which is important for us.
Delivery was quick and a link to carrier was provided which kept us updated. Carrier rang beforehand to agree a delivery date then able to ring on day of delivery to narrow the window.
Not yet unpacked logs but received recommendation from neighbour so assuming they will burn well.

Advertised Delivery time is misleading
Order was delayed only because they wanted to group orders together. Had to call and insist only delivery. It's definately not 3-5 days like they say.

Great Service, decent price.
I ordered 1.5 tonnes of Newburn on a Sunday and it was delivered the next Wednesday. The delivery driver was very polite and used his crane to position the pallets as close to my garage as possible meaning minimal lifting and shifting for myself. I will definitely use this company again, should they continue to be reasonably priced. i.e if it's cheaper somewhere else I will go somewhere else.

Quick and easy to order. When I recieved details of my delivery date I realised that I would not be able to receive the order on that day. One phone call to the Coal Shop and the deivery was sorted for the next day. The delivery driver was very polite. Contacted me on the day with time of delivery and was helpful in positioning of said order. Product is of excellent quality.

Understanding
This is the third time I've ordered unfortunately as the delivery arrived I was waiting for an ambulance as my husband was seriously unwell and therfore I was unable to receive it. Both the Coal Shop and the delivery company were so understanding I can't thank them enough.
