Overwhelming Perfume Odor

I purchased a Chanel Boy Bag. It has such a strong perfume odor that I can smell it across the room. It is as if the bag had been dipped into a bucket of perfume. This defect should have been explicitly mentioned in the product description. Instead of this, the website has a general statement that some of their products may have a perfume odor. I wouldn't have purchased this bag had I known it would be this bad.

Consignment without consent: underpriced, unpaid, and unaccountable

Thank you for your reply, The Luxury Closet– however, I strongly disagree with your version of the facts.

Regarding the payout:
My bank details were fully verified in advance, and I followed all platform steps.
If your system requires a separate manual “request for payment” after the item is sold and marked as “paid,” this was never clearly communicated.
Other platforms trigger payouts automatically.
I received no reminder, no alert, no warning – only a “Paid” status without funds. This is misleading at best.
Regarding pricing and external listings:
I never approved a 70% markdown on my Alaïa jacket, and I certainly never consented to having it listed on third-party sites like Vestiaire Collective with such a low payout (only AED 250).
You may refer to your terms, but sellers deserve transparent, real-time control – not hidden systems that result in massive losses and zero accountability.

Regarding your “fair and consistent” consignment model:
If your policies are fair, why are so many sellers (check the reviews!) facing the same issues: disappearing payouts, unapproved markdowns, and high return fees even when items are not sold?I consigned 24 high-quality designer items with The Luxury Closet. The experience has been a complete nightmare.

My Alaïa jacket (worth over €800) was sold for a total of AED 800, but I received only AED 250.

The item was automatically discounted without my active approval and listed on third-party platforms without my consent.

Even worse, I have never received the payout, although it's marked as “paid” in my seller account. My bank details were verified long ago, and I've followed up multiple times with no result.

The rest of my items? I have to pay AED 1,102 just to get them back – even though many were never listed properly in the first place.

The platform presents itself as a luxury resale partner, but their process is opaque, seller-unfriendly, and in my experience, borderline exploitative.

Avoid consigning with them unless you are prepared to lose control over your items and receive arbitrary payouts – if any.

These processes are automated to ensure transparency and fairness and do not require individual approvals once accepted.

Regarding payment, while bank details were verified, payouts are released only after a seller submits a payment request through their account. Our records indicate that this step was not completed.
