Hit or Miss Customer Support/Service
Support is very hit or miss. Today, spent nearly an hour and wasn't able to receive answer's to my questions. Agent didn't seem knowledgeable ot able to articulate the solution. After I requested several times the agent finally granted my request for an escalated support agent.
Website is horrible for ordering
First of all, I'm not a restaurant owner but a customer of certain restaurants that use Toast. One thing all these restaurants have in common is their Toast websites that DO NOT allow you to place orders well in advance (like about more than 1.5 hours). It's very short-sighted and frankly plain stupid. Even though it allows you the place an order for the next day, the time it allows you to pick is within about an hour and a half of the CURRENT TIME for the day you place the order. For example, if it's 4:00pm now, you can place an order for maybe between 4:30pm to 6:00pm pickup, but even if you choose tomorrow, you are limited to that same 4:30pm to 6:00pm pickup window! If I want to pick up a pizza later in the day and I want to run errands and maybe go to the gym first, I can't order from a restaurant using a Toast-powered website because it is so poorly executed. I can't speak of their POS system but if it's anything like their website for ordering, I would stay away because you will lose business. I actually tried calling Toast to offer free feedback to them so they can know about this issue since I have to skip these restaurants and use another one that doesn't use Toast, or order by phone. When I explained the issue, they hung up the phone on me. How's that for customer support and wanting to improve their business?
Not for Golf Courses!
We recently switched to Toast for our golf course bar and restaurant POS. It has been nothing but problems. From extremely delayed integration with our golf course management software (still ongoing 7 months in) to 8 hours of on-site installation/training resulting in 0 operational POS terminals (i ended up installing myself with the telephone assistance of Brandon Ringler who is amazing) and 0 training provided, it has been nothing but headaches. The hardware is perfectly fine and the system works as expected. We have recently had issues trying to convert our credit card processing fees from daily to monthly for accounting ease and zero'ing out our member account balances for the start of the new golf season. Every issue we encounter requires multiple phone calls with extremely limited success, even being provided assurances that the issue will be addressed and having the case closed out without any follow up or resolution. Many promises made and very few have been kept.

Non-stop ruthless calls despite requesting multiple times to be removed off their database. Horrible experience of harassment and distracting calls demanding to speak to "the owner or manager" from offshore call centres. Even after identifying myself as the owner and constantly asking to stop being contacted, they keep calling and harassing me and our team. Avoid at all costs.
Stop with the spam please
There is a local restaurant where I’m from that has a rewards system using Toast. Somehow, I have been signed up for this program without my consent. And somehow my dad’s contact info and my contact info have both been added to this reward account. He and I don’t speak, yet I get emails every time he takes his other family members out to eat. It’s super annoying. I’ve tried contacting the restaurant and Toast. Toast is impossible to get ahold of and the restaurant doesn’t seem to care.

Toast has been an amazing asset to our small business. It is easy to use, easy to edit, and most importantly contact and interacting with tech support or customer service is quick and easy.
Toast POS is amazing!
Toast POS has greatly improved my day-to-day operations by making transactions faster, smoother, and more organized. The system is incredibly reliable it rarely goes down, and even during busy hours, it keeps up without lag or errors. Its user-friendly interface makes training new staff easy and reduces mistakes at the register.
Good service
Love toast! Been using for about 5 years and just transitioned to toast payroll from ADP

They really specialize in the restaurant sector, they are always available, they offer customer service in Spanish and English, which is important, the salespeople are attentive, and the after-sales service we have received has been the best.

They do have a nice POS system .
Excellent customer service
The customer service was knowledgable and he was helping me with changing the printer successfully.
Don’t Do It
Ticket receipts didn’t print correctly and that didn’t get resolved even after 1 year. Huge implications to our business. Randomly would stop working, (the entire system) and their solution was always “turn it off and turn it back on.” I could go on but there’s no point. Just expect issues regularly if you use this system. Very expensive for the quality.

I placed an order through a restaurant that uses Toast, but when I realized I needed to cancel, there was no way to do it through their system. I called the restaurant directly, and even they couldn’t cancel it—they said Toast controls that process.
It’s extremely frustrating that Toast doesn’t allow customers or restaurants to cancel an order quickly and easily. A basic feature like cancellation and refund should not be this difficult. This experience has made me think twice about using Toast for future orders. In fact I recommend that restaurants don't use them as a 3rd party.
