the rental programmer worked on two new keys

Well it took a while to get the keys programmed and working, I was scared at first because when I followed the directions- it did not work for a Toyota RAV4. I had to call the support line for help. then tried starting from scratch given the info they gave me and the programming worked successfully on two newly cut keys with remote push buttons

I made a mistake and ordered the wrong…

I made a mistake and ordered the wrong key cut for my vehicle, and support reached out and informed me of the mistake and helped me correct it before my order was shipped out. Overall, I would say that I would recommend this service to whoever needs it.

Great communication and service

The assistance along the way and response to emails was almost instantaneous. The communication was very good. The keys fit and work perfectly. And the programming process, it's pretty easy, as long as you didn't try to jump ahead.

Dealing with this company was a nightmare!

Where to start?!?! I ordered a key and the cut by photo service also. After placing the order I read that you need at least one key for the one they make you to be able to be programmed to your vehicle. I sent them an e-mail and asked if their key would work without having another key. They replied that it would not and that I would need a dealer to get it to work. I immediately replied and asked them to cancel the order. They replied to me that I couldn't cancel the order because it has already shipped. I replied to them and asked how that was possible since I didn't submit any pictures for them to cut the key. They said they used the pictures from last time I ordered from them.... That was more than a year ago and FOR A DIFFERENT CAR! I don't even have that car anymore. So I replied to them and said they need to refund my money cause they should have never even sent anything since I didn't give them the pictures for the key. They admitted that I was right but they would not refund my money until I sent the key back. That's ridiculous since they should've never sent it. They said I'd have to wait for the key to arrive and write "return to sender" on the package to send it back. The key arrived quickly via FedEx. I contacted FedEx and asked them to pick the package up. They informed me that the company would have to provide me with a shipping label... writing "return to sender" on the package won't work. So I contacted these idiots (Tom's Key Company) again and told them what FedEx told me. So they sent me a shipping label but it was for USPS. So I had to waste my time and money driving to the post office to ship out a package that they should have never sent! I sent the package then e-mailed them to ask them for the refund. They sent the refund but didn't give me back the shipping or taxes! WTF is wrong with these people. I e-mailed them again and asked why they did this. They said they can't refund the shipping since they shipped me a key. That's ridiculous since they shouldn't have shipped anything. They also said they already paid the taxes to the state and that's why they couldn't refund the tax money. I sent them yet another e-mail and told them this was not ok and explained why. They did then refund all of my money. Finally I'm done with these idiots. Don't buy from them. I called a local locksmith and they came to my house and cut and programmed a key the next day. So much easier...

Hello Yo Mama,

We sincerely apologize for the frustration this experience caused you. After reviewing your order and the full conversation history, we agree that this situation could have been handled more smoothly, and we are addressing it internally to prevent similar issues moving forward.

Although the matter has now been fully resolved with a complete refund, we would like to clarify a few points for transparency:

1. Our Simple Key Programming Kit (EZ Installer) is designed for single-vehicle use only. It can program multiple keys (typically 4–8, depending on the key type) but only for the same vehicle.

2. Like our other DIY key solutions, at least one working key is required in order to program additional keys.

3. The key that was shipped to you was uncut. Our fulfillment team did not receive an updated Key By Photo request tied to that order, so it was not cut using any prior vehicle information.

4. We regret the confusion surrounding the return process. You are correct that the return could have been facilitated more efficiently. We were not fully aware that a FedEx Return to Sender would require a different handling process, and we should have provided the proper label immediately to avoid inconvenience.

We understand how time-sensitive vehicle key matters can be, and we acknowledge that the back-and-forth created unnecessary frustration. While we are relieved that the full refund has been completed, we genuinely regret that your experience did not reflect the level of service we aim to provide.

Thank you for your feedback; it helps us improve our processes.

Order concerns and Return

I ordered the wrong products in a rush to get a second key after a new car purchase. I was reaponded to the same day as my order. Additionally I was given every option to correct the order or get refunded. I could not be happier with the service and rapid response from Tom’s.

Honest and thoughtful help

I was a bit panicked about replacing my car key and despite it being one of the few key's not available through Tom's Key Company, the advice given was helpful and calming. They shared how I could get the help I needed and I appreciated their honesty and care.

very convenient

very convenient, cost effective. I live in Canada and the cost here is ridiculous to get a key made. Saved a bunch. Takes a load of worry about loosing an only key. Recommend prevention, huge cost to no key situation. spare key less painful monetarily wise. received quick help for trouble shooting.

Good experience, customer service prompt.

Order was prompt and came without issue. There was an issue with the websit for the product Tom's Key sold me and didn't have directions available for my vehicle. I contacted Tom's and got a prompt response with the instructions and was able to complete my programming. Would have been 5 stars except the issue with the instructions.

Lost my wife's car keys.

Lost my wife's car key about 6 weeks ago. I looked all over the house and property. Two days after I ordered a new key kit, my wife found my keys in her coat pocket.
I immediately contacted the customer service department after hours to cancel my order. The next morning, Tom's Key Company notified me that the order had already been cancelled. My refund was issued the next day as well.
As far as customer service, it doesn't get any better than that. Tom's Key Company is a class act.

HUGE money saver!

the door lock/unlock button on the keyfob for my 2010 Dodge Nitro stopped working...last time I had the dealership replace and program a key for me about 6 years ago it was $250, probably far more now...I researched if I could get a key myself and found Tom's Key Co...I ordered the key for my make & model and also ordered the 'key by photo' option to upload 3 photos of my key and have my new key cut before shipping...I received it in less than a week...I found info online that said if I had 2 keys that would start my car, I could self program the new keyfob without a programmer...well darned if that wasn't dead on! I followed the procedure to self program my new key which took all of 2 minutes, and it works brilliantly now! I have no problem highly recommending Tom's Key Company and I will use them from now on to replace vehicle keys

Amazing experience

Amazing experience! I ended up just buying a key fob, they sent me an email before shilling it to let me know that if I didn’t have a programmer that it would not program. I’m glad they did that because I had no idea. I thought as soon as I bought it it would automatically be programmed. lol but I guess that wouldn’t make sense due to they’re probably 1 million cars with the same make and model as mine. Anyways I got the right order finally thanks to them! And it shot here pretty fast. I was able to program it with in minutes. I definitely want to buy a new one for back ups.

Do not use this service

Website claims they can make a key fob for my exact vehicle that I can program with their programmer. I Buy the service, waste 3 evenings trying to get the new FOB programmed to my vehicle. I requested for a return. They asked if I would work with their tech support before I returned the items. I sent all the information they asked for. Waited for a response. No response initially. Emailed support got a response asking for pictures of my key. Responded that their programmer wont work with my vehicle even though their website sells this service for my exact vehicle. Wait for my return label. ship items back and they refund me all but $4.68. I realize $4.68 is not a lot of money, but they provided me nothing but a waste of my time. If anything they should pay me for the 3 evenings I wasted on a service that they knew would not work when they sold it to me. How do you sell something that you know wont work, and then keep a portion of my money?

Hello Kirt,

We’re sorry to hear about your frustration and the time you spent trying to get everything working. We understand how disappointing it is when a DIY solution doesn’t go as expected.

After reviewing your order, the issue appears to have been related to FCC ID compatibility. The fob used had an FCC ID containing “FLA,” which is not compatible with our TSL programmer. This compatibility requirement is outlined in our product details, as the programmer only works with specific FCC IDs. Unfortunately, if the FCC ID does not match, the programming process will not complete successfully.

We agree that this type of detail can be easy to miss, especially when you’re focused on getting a replacement key working quickly. That’s why our support team requested photos of the original key, to verify compatibility before proceeding further.

Regarding the refund, we processed it according to our return policy. The remaining amount retained reflects non-refundable components outlined in our terms (such as shipping/processing costs). That said, we understand your perspective and that the experience did not meet your expectations.

It is never our intention to sell a product that knowingly will not work for a vehicle. Compatibility depends on specific technical identifiers like FCC ID, not just year/make/model alone, and we will continue reviewing how we present that information to make it clearer for future customers.

We appreciate your feedback, even though we’re sorry it came from a negative experience. If you would like us to review anything further, please feel free to reach out with your order details.

Bottom line

Bottom line, wrong device ordered for my specific truck. I received what I thought was the right device on recommendation made by automated response to data entered. Received device but after several views of recommended videos, and attempt to program multiple OEM and generic remotes, all failed. I did some further investigation and found that due to my truck having 4 doors, I needed a different device. Upon contacting Tom’s, a smooth transition from returning and ordering was very impressive. I will follow up with this another kind review when I, hopefully find success. My new order is on the way.
