Very easy. I booked booking.com pickup airport Sofia but after a call from me to Top rent a shutllebus came and picked me up in 2 minutes and drove me to the head office. A 3 minute drive.
Drop off same way. every 5-10 minutes there is a free shutllebus from Top rent a car that drives you back to the airport.
You can only get the car with CCard with pincode or Visa. A drop off at a different location as pick up costs extra. Car was almost new with a good navy.

Paying extra charge for preparation and getting a unclean car is a no go. Waitting time at Plovdiv Airport longer then 30 minutes to get a car as a ViP client who is already checked in - also a no go! The service was better years ago…

I have used Toprent at Plovdiv many times and not had any problems.
There is a charge of 24€ added for cleaning which I have noticed recently, I think that is excessive and should be part of the rental.
Yanni and the tall bald guy are very helpful.

Would never use again!!!
This is the worst car hire company we have ever used. If we could give them a minus - 10 we would. Owing to their terrible communication and appalling Customer Service (or lack of it) we missed our flight home, had to rebook flights for next day, check into a hotel for the night and get more taxis to get to the airport the next day. The guy at the airport office inside Sofia Airport when we landed on Monday night of 11 May was arrogant, bombastic, and downright rude. The staff at the so called Head Office portacabin compound that we were taken to when our flight landed again were just awful. This company need to sort out their Customer Service skills on all levels and give them some proper training. Thank goodness that the hotel we stayed at were professional and so helpful. Maybe the hotel could send over some staff to show them how good Customer Service should be carried out.

I recently rented from "the no1 in Bulgaria Top Rent a Car" and unfortunately it was by far the worst car rental experience I have had, despite renting cars all over the world.
On arrival at the airport, we had to wait almost an hour for other clients’ flights to arrive before anything happened. After that, the agent disappeared to organise a mini bus which then took us across the car park just to collect the car. The entire pick-up process was extremely slow, unorganised, and frustrating. Over an after after 22:00 to pick up a car from an airport with only 2 arriving flights.
Returning the car was just as inconvenient. We had to drive back to their office, hand the car over for inspection, and then after checking it, they got back into the same car and drove us to the airport themselves. It made no sense and added unnecessary delays.
The service overall was incredibly slow and inefficient. Customers should be clearly warned in advance that they may face long waits for the mini bus and extended collection times. I would not use this company again.

Our colleagues provide a complimentary shuttle service to transport customers from Burgas Airport (Sarafovo) to our office, which is conveniently located within the Sarafovo area, whenever the vehicle pick-up is scheduled from that location.
Depending on the workload at the office and the overall coordination of the daily operational process, it is possible that several arriving flights may be grouped together before the shuttle transfer is organized. This is part of our efforts to manage peak arrival periods efficiently while ensuring all customers are served as quickly as possible.
Regarding the return process, vehicle inspections at our office are part of our standard procedure to ensure transparency and protect both the customer and the company from any misunderstandings about the vehicle’s condition. After the inspection, our staff provides direct transportation back to the terminal for convenience.
We understand that travel delays can be frustrating, and we continuously work on improving our transfer and pick-up efficiency, particularly during peak seasons. Your comments have been shared with the relevant team and will help us improve our service further.

€700 unfair charge for "lost documents" – They fight dirty, but you can win
Top Rent a Car is a dishonest company that uses misleading information and inflated penalties to rip off customers.
They charged me €700 after returning the car, claiming I didn’t return the vehicle documents. The truth is they never properly gave me the insurance policy and technical inspection documents when I picked up the vehicle. When I told them the documents were in my apartment 150 km away and that I was flying back to the Netherlands with my family, they didn’t care.
Instead of being reasonable, they tried to justify ridiculous charges:
€300 for a simple registration declaration (real cost around €35)
€100 for an insurance policy that is fully electronic in Bulgaria
€100 for a technical inspection sticker that was abolished in January 2026
€200 “downtime” fee even though the exact same car was available for rent the next day
Other reputable companies like Hertz charge around €150 for lost documents. Top Rent a Car demanded €700 and refused my offer of a fair settlement. Throughout the whole process they kept feeding misleading information and acted as if charging €700 is completely normal.
After they refused to resolve the matter reasonably, I disputed the charge with ING. Thanks to perseverance and presenting the real facts, both ING and Mastercard reviewed the case and charged back the full €700.
This company relies on customers being intimidated or giving up. They use hidden, disproportionate, and often false charges. If you rent from them, document everything and be ready to fight — because they will try to take as much money from you as possible.

As previously explained, the fee for vehicle downtime is applied when a returned vehicle cannot be immediately returned to service. In this case, the car was returned without its required documents, which made it temporarily unavailable for further rentals. This charge applies only to the specific vehicle returned in this condition and is not related to the availability of other vehicles of the same model.
Regarding the missing documents, all applicable fees and conditions are clearly outlined in your rental agreement and its Official Price List, which forms an integral part of the contract. The relevant information is presented on pages 27–28 of your agreement. In addition, our full rental terms are publicly available on our website: https://toprentacar.bg/contract
By confirming the reservation, all clients agree that they have reviewed and accepted these contractual terms. We always ensure that this information is accessible in advance so that customers can make an informed decision before proceeding with the rental.
We also provided the vehicle return protocol, which documents the condition of the car upon return and the basis for the applied charges. This is a standard procedure in the car rental industry and ensures proper and transparent documentation of any discrepancies.
We understand your concerns; however, the charges have been applied in accordance with the agreed contractual terms and established procedures. Alternative solutions were offered, but unfortunately they were not acceptable from your side.
