A dream holiday overshadowed by poor communication, poor coordination and disappointing customer service.
I deliberately waited until I had completed Travel Center’s internal complaints procedure before writing this review because I wanted to give the company every opportunity to investigate my concerns fairly, consider the evidence I provided and acknowledge where things had gone wrong.
Unfortunately, after more than four weeks of correspondence, providing every document, receipt, screenshot and piece of evidence requested, I remain extremely disappointed with both the service I received during my holiday and the way my complaint was investigated.
I booked a tailor-made six-destination holiday across Singapore, Bali, Malaysia and Thailand costing almost £6000
The entire reason for using a travel agent was to remove the stress of coordinating multiple flights, hotels, ferries and transfers.
Instead, I found myself acting as my own travel agent.
Throughout the holiday there was a recurring pattern of poor communication, poor coordination and a complete lack of proactive customer service.
I repeatedly found myself:
• Chasing transfer companies to establish whether transport had actually been arranged.
• Contacting suppliers directly because information had either not been passed on or had been passed on incorrectly.
• Travelling with outdated documentation because revised vouchers were never issued following itinerary changes.
• Spending hours of what should have been my holiday researching, sending emails, making WhatsApp calls and resolving issues that I reasonably expected my travel agent to manage.
The final airport transfer perfectly summarised my experience.
Despite being repeatedly assured that everything had been updated following a flight change, the transfer company advised me they had only received the amended flight details the evening before travel. I was preparing to arrange and pay for my own transport before a driver unexpectedly arrived. I later obtained evidence directly from the driver showing that the replacement transfer company had still been given my original flight number—a flight that had been cancelled weeks earlier.
This wasn’t simply an inconvenience.
It demonstrated exactly the poor coordination I had experienced throughout the holiday.
What disappointed me most was the way my complaint was handled.
Rather than considering the overall customer experience, each issue appeared to be considered in isolation and repeatedly justified by referring back to booking confirmations, terms and conditions, or describing matters as personal preferences or inconveniences.
That completely missed the point of my complaint.
My complaint was never about whether baggage allowances appeared on a booking confirmation or whether I arrived at the airport an hour earlier than recommended.
It was about repeatedly having to chase suppliers, receiving no updated travel documentation, being left uncertain whether transfers actually existed, and spending a significant part of what should have been a once-in-a-lifetime holiday resolving problems that I reasonably expected my travel agent to manage.
Even after providing extensive documentary evidence—including supplier correspondence, emails sent before booking, screenshots, revised flight information and evidence obtained during the holiday—I do not feel that this evidence was meaningfully reflected in the conclusions reached.
Mistakes happen.
What defines a good travel company is how those mistakes are managed.
In my experience, Travel Center failed to communicate proactively, failed to coordinate changes effectively and failed to take meaningful ownership when problems occurred.
I have now exhausted Travel Center’s internal complaints procedure and, as I remain dissatisfied with both the outcome and the handling of my complaint, I will be referring the matter to ABTA for an independent review.
I genuinely hope no one else experiences what we did.
A holiday of this significance should be about creating memories, not spending countless hours chasing confirmations, contacting suppliers and wondering what the next issue will be.
Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Travel Center and will not be booking through them again.

As explained throughout our correspondence, we have carefully reviewed all aspects of your concerns, including the correspondence, documentation, supplier communications, and information available to us. Regarding the airport transfer following the airline schedule change, we reviewed the circumstances surrounding the amendment and the communication with the transfer provider. While the transfer was ultimately provided, we fully understand the uncertainty and inconvenience this caused and appreciate the frustration you experienced. This was taken into consideration as part of our review, and the compensation offer provided reflected the circumstances and inconvenience raised.
Regarding the additional transfers, we reviewed the booking information and correspondence available. The confirmed booking documentation outlined the services included within your holiday arrangements, and these transfers were not included as part of the confirmed package. However, we appreciate why your previous correspondence regarding your preferences may have contributed to your expectations. While our position remained based on the confirmed booking arrangements, we also considered the wider circumstances when reviewing your concerns and, as a gesture of goodwill, agreed to refund these costs despite them not forming part of the confirmed package arrangements.
With regard to the baggage allowance, our review confirmed that the baggage information was provided within your booking confirmation and was also discussed during the booking process. Based on the information available, we were unable to identify that incorrect baggage details had been provided.
In relation to additional baggage, seating, and other airline services, these were purchased directly with the airline and were not visible to us at the time of booking. Following your contact with us, we reviewed the information available and provided clarification where possible to assist you.
Regarding the hotel accommodation and your comments about the destination, we are sorry to hear that these aspects did not meet your personal expectations. We reviewed the information available prior to travel, including the details provided about the accommodation and destination. We appreciate that factors such as accommodation features, surroundings, and destination atmosphere can differ depending on individual preferences and expectations.
We are truly sorry that you remain unhappy with aspects of your overall experience. We appreciate the time you have taken to provide detailed feedback, and your comments have been carefully considered as part of our ongoing efforts to improve the service we provide.

Barry made the booking process seamlessly.
I was looking at potential holidays online and came across the Travel Center on Facebook. I previously inquired with them but was not satisfied how I was responded to the first time. However, this time, the travel consultant, Barry Kent, came across as polite, patient and professional. The one thing that set him apart from other travel consultants, he didn't make you feel pressured. It was a smooth flow of conversation and planning. He made you feel like you're listened to that makes you want to know more about the tour package being offered you. Barry inquired what travel plans I had in mind and set the ball rolling from there. He is very efficient and answered all my queries effortlessly. He was aware that I had other travel plans and offered a payment plan and even added an excursion for my birthday!
