A terrifying experience. Stay away if you can

I rented an apartment in Edinburgh's Old Town in November. The initial communication was good, and accessing the apartment was easy. Unfortunately, the problems arose afterwards. As soon as we arrived, we noticed that the sinks did not have hot water. We immediately contacted the property, and they promised a technician would come the following day. No one showed up the next day, and the property did not respond to our messages; they only wrote back the evening after that, apologizing and stating that no one would be able to come.

The same evening, the internet stopped working, which we also reported, but it was not fixed. Keep in mind that there is poor cell reception in the house, so we could not even use our phones as a hotspot.

Furthermore, I must report a broken sofa and wardrobe doors that detached, posing a serious risk of falling on someone. The apartment was also not particularly clean; quite the opposite.

Upon returning to Italy, I opened a dispute with Booking, and the most I obtained was a €50 refund out of a total cost of €611. This was a great disappointment with Booking as well, which did very little to remedy the situation. Our 4-day stay was entirely without hot water and 2 days without internet, all met with complete disinterest, first from the property and then from Booking. I encourage you to make your own assessment."

Great apartment with everything I needed x

I had a really great experience staying at the apartment. All communication was very easy and clear and precise instructions for a hassle free check in. The host went above and beyond with any questions that I had. Stayed there two nights and have already booked my next stay.

Great location

I didn’t know who these people were…

I didn’t know who these people were when booking my accommodation on booking.com. I tried to get help from them as I couldn’t access my accommodation. I was on the phone forever and only got redirected back to the accommodation owner. So completely pointless. The accommodation was also terrible.

Awful experience

We were unable to check in until five hours past check in time, left us outside in the rain. Only after almost two hours on the phone to customer services did we manage to gain access and were then put into a completely different property to that which we had paid for. This stay was supposed to be relaxing but caused so much stress and wasted much of our time away. We were refunded less than £40 from a booking that cost over £300, not acceptable in my opinion and it this which will make me look elsewhere when booking in future. Booking.com were little to no help on this occasion and I’ll be avoiding using them again because of this. Awful customer service that made it near impossible to talk to a person regarding our issue generic replies of “we hope to be in touch within 24 hours” when we’re outside the property we should be checking in to.

Frustration

I am fully aware that TravelNest acts as an intermediary between those seeking and those offering accommodation, but I believe it is extremely important, even fundamental, that they take responsibility for balancing this relationship. It must be guaranteed to be a win-win situation. If it isn't, then its existence makes no sense. I was wronged in a transaction on their platform and I am not receiving sufficient support to resolve the issue. The property I booked had serious safety and cleanliness problems to the point that my check-in and use of the property were impossible. This is unacceptable under any circumstances, because it is assumed that you can book and arrive safely with your family in a location on another continent without any worries. I had to look for alternative accommodation and, being a large metropolis, I found a minimally reasonable solution. I am requesting a refund of the amount previously paid because I did not use the property during the contracted period due to an error on the owner's part, not mine. The problem has not yet been resolved. I really hope so.

A luxurious place to stay

We had a wonderful night's stay here. The best feature is the hot tub- it was the perfect size and temperature. Heron lakes is a fabulous setting- we found it to be very peaceful and relaxing. The Lodge is well equipped, clean and has everything you could want. We took our 2 pugs and the outside area was secure enough for them to be off-lead (supervised). The shower was powerful and the furnishings were all high quality. Thank you for great time.

False advertising Be Aware Over a Pub Loud Music

False advertising. This apartment is above a pub and the ad does not mention that at all. There was a live band playing directly underneath the apartment until 130 am we got no sleep and the floors and furniture were shaking. They also had bright curtain Christmas lights covering the outside of the windows that didn't get turned off until 230 am! There is a steep staircase up to the apartment which is also not mentioned and parking is on the street if you can find a pot which is also not mentioned. Once the band stopped playing there was a lot of street noise from people leaving the pub and hanging around the front door of the apartment as well as truck and car noise. The dishes and glasses were dirty and they don't provide coffee or tea bags even though there is a kettle and Keurig coffee pod maker. The host doesn't bother to reply to messages we stayed there over a week ago and sent a question via message the morning before our stay and they still have not responded. Horrible experience the worst experience of our whole trip as every other place we stayed was great

Lovely cozy flat on quiet street

Great location on a quiet street. Flat is very cozy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay ie all kitchen utensils, big fluffy towels, very comfy bed, washing machine and even a mini bar, which was not expensive at all. Will definitely stay again

Nice stay

Exceptional accommodation
