Truelancer is a good freelancing platform. I completed my project successfully and received payment on time. The website is easy to use and good for beginners. Overall, a good experience.

Very disappointing experience with Freelancer platform, especially after taking their Plus Membership.

Even after paying around ₹50,000 for Plus, I am getting almost zero support from the team. My account gets locked repeatedly every month without any proper reason, and I have to raise multiple requests just to get it unlocked. This completely disrupts my work and client communication.

I was assigned a relationship manager (Nancy Singh) after purchasing Plus, but after onboarding she never receives calls or responds to messages. Before taking the membership she was responsive, but after payment there is no support at all.

Another major issue is payouts. I raised a payout request on 3rd January and even on 18th January the amount is still not received. No proper response from support despite multiple emails.

The worst part is – even when we find clients ourselves, discuss with them multiple times, show work samples, and win the project, Freelancer still charges 20% commission while providing ZERO help in the process. We do all the effort, but the platform only takes money without supporting freelancers.

Plus membership feels like a complete waste of money. I would not recommend this platform to anyone who expects fair treatment and real support.

Payment terms should be determined by the contract between client and developer. Whether to pay upfront, in milestones, or upon completion should be their decision based on their relationship and mutual agreement.
Truelancer's role should be simple: provide escrow services, facilitate secure transactions, and offer dispute resolution if needed.
Instead, they've appointed themselves as administrators who dictate how business must be conducted. They're not a bridge—they're a barrier imposing their own rules on independent business relationships.
Truelancer forces ALL payment control to remain with the client until ALL work is completed. This removes any negotiating power or flexibility from the working relationship. The client and developer may have complete trust and want to work differently, but Truelancer says "no—you must do it our way."
This isn't facilitation. This is control. They profit from transactions while restricting the basic freedom of two parties to conduct business on their own terms. They act like enforcers inserting themselves into agreements that should be between client and developer alone.
Freelance platforms should enable freedom and flexibility, not restrict it. Truelancer's rigid policies show they value their own control over the autonomy of the people using their platform. We are not criminals needing supervision—we are professionals who should be free to work according to our own contracts.

If you have polished skills, you will surely hunt freelancing projects at Truelancer. Staff member acts as bridge to find most skilled and trust worthy freelancers based on client requirement. They also provide you free monthly proposal limit, which is the positive aspect not available with any other market place.

Overall Truelancer Marketplace team is great place for freelancer to find the project. Staff members are cooperative and supportive. Have a pretty bad experience working with Upwork like spending money to bid for proposals and all being left ignored. However there is no such scenario's at truelancer. They award you with the free proposal every month. Love being part of it.
