Been having the pallets of logs from these for years I have tried other suppliers but there never seems as many logs on the pallet and don’t burn as well
The driver put the pallet exactly where I wanted it saving me time having to unload it always find the lorry drivers very helpful well done

Great quality sleepers - all 20 in good condition.

I would not recommend this company and will never use them again. I paid nearly £600 for a pergola kit, and when it arrived, several parts were faulty. Four of the posts had notches cut 20 mm too deep, one rafter had a large crack through the notch, and when we began installation, we discovered that four rafters were warped.

When I contacted the company to request replacement rafters, I was refused on the grounds that I had already painted them, meaning they “couldn’t plane them down to resell.” Instead of resolving the issue, they tried to overwhelm me with technical explanations and blamed me for not assembling the pergola immediately upon delivery—claiming this was the reason the timber warped.

That explanation doesn’t make sense—if their theory were correct, why did only four rafters warp, not all of them? Besides, standard advice is to allow timber to weather and dry before treating it. If I had assembled it right away, the untreated wood would have been exposed to rain and never dried properly. For that reason, I kept the timbers strapped together under cover to weather them before painting.

Despite all this, they still expect me to pay for replacement rafters. Extremely poor quality control and even worse customer service.

Generally they are ok. However I had asked them on 3 separate occasions to cut some of the sleepers we ordered. They said it would be done but they didn’t cut them. I now have to do it myself.

I’ve ordered quite a lot from U.K. Timber, all variety of product from Sleepers, oak gates and posts, sawn boards, fencing, nails/iron works and first grade finished boards. Most of the timber product is very good but by the nature of it some will have twists, loose or missing knots, sap, splits so make sure you allow in your calculations for this. Delivery can be a little slower at peak times but always very good drivers. The range is very good and if you cannot see what you want, ask.

Where to start...

My order began with Brigstock Sawmill, who handled the enquiry and ordering process. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.

The order was passed to their sister company, uk-timber.co.uk, where things went downhill. Delivery was advertised as 10–15 days, but it took 4 weeks to arrive. Despite chasing multiple times, I was never able to get a confirmed delivery date.

On Tuesday, I finally received an email saying the order had been handed to the despatch team and to expect delivery within 1–4 days. Then on Friday afternoon, I received another message stating the order was with the driver—again saying 1–4 days. After more chasing on Monday, I was told the delivery would happen that day around midday as the first drop.

I scrambled to get home from work to receive it, only for the driver to arrive at 1:20 PM with some of the worst timber I’ve ever seen. The sleepers were split down their entire length—wide enough to fit fingers in—completely unacceptable quality. I refused to accept those, but the shorter lengths seemed okay, so I allowed the driver to leave them.

Then, the crane leaked oil all over my driveway, and the driver made no effort to clean up before leaving in a rush, without giving me a chance to speak to him.

Later inspection revealed that even the short lengths were the wrong section. I was told the next day that they wouldn’t be able to deliver replacements within a week and was offered a full refund—which then took another four days to come through.

Overall, this was a completely unprofessional experience with terrible product quality and poor communication throughout.

Never again.

Good communication and notification packaged well however one section of oak plank was unfortunately warped due to the way it was wrapped which pulled it out of shape so I recommend opening packaging asap👍

Order placed for reclaimed Oak railway sleepers and delivered about a week later. Sleepers look great.

Reclaimed railway sleepers are not cheap, especially with the delivery charges are included. But it’s great to find different lengths and they look absolutely fabulous in the garden.
