UKPrepping – Now Offering Free Personality Assessments with Every Delay

I ordered a crossbow from UKPrepping on 3rd August, when their website showed nine in stock and promised 24h processing / 48h dispatch. The ID requirement was hidden in the small print, so I submitted it on 7th August after spotting it.

Then… silence. It took three emails before I finally got a reply — not an update, not an apology, but a diagnosis. Apparently, I have “angry issues” and a “bad attitude.” This came only after I cited my rights under consumer law, which they interpreted as “aggressive” and therefore reason enough that they “couldn’t trust me with a crossbow.”

They refused to fulfil the order, promised an “immediate refund” on 14th August, but as of 18th August no refund has arrived and they’ve refused to provide proof (ARN). Instead, they’ve claimed they have “up to 14 days” and told me to “stop harassing” them when I chased my own money.

And if you’re reading this thinking, “surely they’ll respond and try to explain” — of course they will. Just look at their replies to other reviews: the customer is never right, and it’s always someone else’s fault. Expect more defensiveness than accountability.

By contrast, I have since bought a crossbow from Outdoorhobbies and the experience was like night and day. Order placed, dispatched the following morning, and in my hands two days later. Smooth, professional, and exactly how it should be.

If you want your goods delivered on time, your emails answered, and to avoid being insulted or psychoanalysed by the shopkeeper, I strongly suggest buying from a reputable alternative.

Just to be clear: at no point did I send threats or abusive emails — I simply cited the Consumer Rights Act and Consumer Contracts Regulations after my order was ignored for 11 days. That was my legal right as a customer.

The owner’s reply here repeats the same personal insults (“anger issues,” “abuse”) I described in my review. I’ll leave it to readers to judge whether this is a professional way to handle a complaint.

Ah the guy that sends threatening abusive emails couple days after FINALLY sending photo ID and sends me abuse, yes zero tolerance policy on crossbows to someone with CLEAR anger issues... thanks

I generally find this shop to be one of the cheapest online for this type of gear. Any queries i have had have always been answered promptly and I've always been happy with the quality of the products supplied. Considering the increased business they must be getting these days i'm grateful for the service they provide and happy to shop here again.

I've just made my first purchase from these folks. The particular item, Jaguar 1, was the best price I found on the Internet and there was also a 10% promotion in July on top. Placing the order was easy, as was verification. Good updates throughout the the delivery process, with quick responses to emails and I received another promo code for next time, just for placing the order.

I think it's good to speak as you find, with that in mind I'm very pleased overall. Not only with the item but also the service that came with making the purchase.

Disappointed

Disappointed, ordered a crossbow (in stock), and after purchase supplied the ID as requested which was acknowledged. 2 weeks later chased for a update, heard nothing, a week after that chased again, still nothing, so a week later had to go through the bank to request a chargeback.

⚠️ Avoid This Store – Dishonest and Unreliable

I had a terrible experience with UK Prepping Shop. I placed an order and paid through PayPal, but they continuously delayed the shipment. First, they claimed it was sent – but provided no tracking number, no confirmation, no proof. After following up, they admitted they had not sent it at all, and promised to ship it “next Monday” – that never happened either.

Every step was just another excuse or outright lie. Communication was slow and evasive. They wasted my time and tested my patience. Eventually, I had to escalate the issue through PayPal to try and get my money back.

⚠️ This is not how a serious business operates. I strongly advise others to stay away from this store. There are plenty of more reliable and honest prepping suppliers in the UK.

Don’t risk your money or your trust – avoid ukpreppingshop.co.uk.

AVOID

AVOID! Ordered on the 1st, it's now the 16th and I still haven't received my order. Messaged after a week (as the website says dispatched within 48 hours) to be told that some of the items have been 'back ordered'. Would I have been told there was a delay if I hadn't of messaged to ask? There was no indication that the items were out of stock when I ordered. Have tried to contact via email and phone to try to swap the items for something that is in stock but have heard nothing back. Have had to order from elsewhere. Ordered my dehydrated meals from the Firepot Food website this afternoon and they will here tomorrow. Take your service elsewhere and avoid the hassle.

Great service

I ordered a bunch of freeze-dried meals for a hiking trip and mistakenly included a few that were on back order. I contacted Justin to request that these were replaced, and also he kindly ensured that they were delivered to me by special delivery to make sure they were received in time for my trip. Very grateful for this care and attention, thank you Justin!

Taken payment but provided no goods.

I ordered a box of emergency water supply to keep in the car(s) - (Order #34585) - and paid for the 48hr shipping. Order was placed on 23/06/25 and I still haven’t received the order (09/07/25).

I’ve sent two emails via their email stated on their website to ask for a shipping update, and both emails have been ignored.
Obviously this is a company selling products that;
A: don’t have stock but accept payment anyway without notifying you.
Or,
B: is running a scam.

This water was sold at a premium and there is no contact/response/refund from the company - avoid at all costs.

Took a month to deliver and still an item missing without any notification

Ordered on 20 May expecting dispatch within 7 days per their policy. Chased 4 June with no reply. Chased again on 22 June saying send the goods or I will initiate a charge back.

Got a terse reply saying it should've been sent but no apology or anything resembling customer service.

They sent the goods and an email saying the order was complete, listing out all items as sent. Went through it all and realised an item was missing. Emailed back another terse email and was told it was out of stock and not expected until July. No apology, no indication part of my order was missing and when it might be expected. No trust it's going to ever be delivered, or delivered in a reasonable time frame. L

No offer for a refund even! I am very sure it's breaking contract law to be told your goods will be despatched in 7 days, to end up over a month later without that paid for item, and not even a notice or apology.

I would like to thank Justin from UK prepping shop for helping me with an issue I thought I had with delivery . I jumped the gun and put a poor review on here I miss understood there policy on certain goods . I spoke with Justin on the phone he explained everything which I apologised for my review and removed. I would like to thank Uk prepping shop and Justin for sorting my issue out and sending my tracking details of my goods . I will be buying more goods after the service they supplied

Absolutely abysmal customer service

Made an order, paid. 1. Article arrived 2. Did not (the more expensive one which I ordered 3x of) Ive had the seller ignoring my calls for 3 days now, an only after I file a small claims charge back I get an email from the seller (from what i can only assume to be a last ditch attempt to hold onto the funds) “you did not provide ID!!!”

First of all I want to say that they did not email me when I had placed the initial order asking me for ID, furthermore the item in question (article 2. 3x Crossbow strings) is not a prohibited/ strictly controlled item that requires ID. In example, C02 rifle, An actual Crossbow!!!

It is something I have ordered many a time without a single problem before, an through my headache with this company i have found out that is also readily available off amazon.

Save your selves the headache am give these guys a miss. The only thing they are prepping you for is a headache !!

ordered 30th April and still not received item?????

I ordered a solar radio on the 30th OF APRIL and still not received item ,
I called the only phone number two weeks ago which was a mobile and a gentlemen said they had run out of stock and was waiting for delivery , 3rd week on and I called again twice and left a message both times!
I have sent an email as a last resort but I'm not holding my breath for a response ,
if your ordering from this company good luck!

no communication and no delivery(for a while)

created and order and paid. 1 article was delivered, the 2 expensive ones were not.
didn't have confirmation email, had two useless responses from justin and since then radio silence.

do no buy anything from this site.
no communication and no help. going to try and get a chargeback sorted and if that doesn't work then will go small claims.

Edit: received the other part of order today. still no comms from seller. but have changed from 1 star to 3 star.

Amazing service happy customer

I placed an order and then looked through the reviews which had me a little worried but no need to at all. Order a crossbow and iodine tablets paid for next day delivery, great communication sent out straight away the next day one arrived with Royal Mail and the other with parcel force, Justin also provided me with both tracking numbers. Amazing quality absolutely made up. Most defiantly will be buying again from here. Thanks so much really happy

Not the experience I hoped for

I placed a backorder on April 21st and didn’t receive the product until May 17th. During that time, I reached out multiple times via email and phone but received no proactive updates. On several occasions, my calls were abruptly disconnected, and communication was generally poor.

The owner often came across as either aggressive or defensive, which left me questioning whether I had been scammed. I regret ordering this radio from them. Each time I called, I was told they were expecting a delivery by the end of the week—a claim that kept repeating without result.

Eventually, the radio was shipped via first-class mail. Given my experience, I now seriously question the authenticity of their many positive reviews.

Edit : I appreciate the reminder that it’s my fault for expecting basic communication and professionalism. And thank you for confirming, once again, that customer concerns are best addressed with dismissive replies. Very reassuring.

But don’t worry—your tone in this reply only reinforces everything I said in my review.

Item was back order as explained sorry you still struggle to understand that.
Not once aggressive and answered each email to again say they are back ordered as sold out due to the blackouts, lost count how many times I repeated that.
Yes as soon as they arrived back in stock we sent via next day.
Another that likes to leave small business a bad review.

This company does not deliver just took my money & ignored all my correspondence, They are crooks. Steer clear.
As a result of this review the order was completed
Yet no communication to inform me of when the delivery will occur, Nearly three weeks & no feedback
I will not be using them in the future.
