UniFab is a good product. I mainly use the converter which gives good results. But there are several bugs. First of all, why offer MP4 by default when the most common standard is MKV. And w... See more

Fantastic Conversion, excellent picture quality.
Easy of downloading and using all the apps, which work well for the price.

DVDFab is great! Unifab is trash.
So this is going to be a review of my latest attempt to use Unifab. I see they fixed a thousand bugs so far, I have my hopes up!
I purchased a lifetime License years back, A long time before Unifab ever existed, I was able to use DVD Fab for converting and it did a decent job.
Ever Since Unifab came around as a separate tool, separate download, separate update and all that, it has been. . . . well . . . . buggy beyond use.
I mostly used it to down convert videos from my friends that they share to a reasonable size. Some of my friends encode a single TV Show episode to 1920x1080 (1080p) and the episode will be over 2 GiB in size. Naturally I cant long term store many seasons of that. So I down convert it to a reasonable size of approx 500 MiB per file.
I can no longer do that with Unifab. There are just too many bugs and limitations now. To start off with, As of today 10/17/2024, I drop a 2GiB file in the Unifab tool and click Format, Even if I click 720p video output and slide the slider ALL THE WAY DOWN TO LOW, The lowest it will output video size is 1.21 GiB even on 720p for a 50 minute TV show episode.
I am attempting to convert it to MKV - 480p right now (Super low resolution) and my file only drops to 1.4GiB in size, and when I slide the slider quality to low, I get a minimum of 875mb file size. Thats just ridiculously large for such a tiny format.
I just cant get file sizes down to where I need them now using this tool no matter what I select.
It has put me in a position where I have to go online and find them already resized by someone else at 1080p and 500mb to get them how I need them now.
So basically Unifab has become useless because their focus is on bigger filesizes not smaller ones.
Other bugs include things like Dropping a file into Converter, Clicking Settings on a video, Then clicking "Save My Profile" button at the top, When I click it, I can change the name of the new profile, but there is no "OKAY" or "SAVE" button. As a matter of fact, There just are no buttons at all on that box. I can only press the "X" in the upper corner and when I do that, it saves nothing.
So you dont make custom profiles now due to bugs. Its just not possible now under the current Unifab.
And the most irritating bug of all time is . . . . The "APPLY TO ALL" formatting and settings button just doesnt work at all.
I can literally drop a whole season of my favorite TV Show into Unifab, select the first one, make custom fomatting and conversion settings and when I click "APPLY TO ALL" button at the bottom, it closes the settings window and literally does nothing to the other episodes.
It has gotten to the point where if i use Unifab for conversion, I just do one episode at a time. Because I can edit only one episode at a time, adding more than that is just risky and waste of time because I cant get the settings to migrate to the other episodes.
Also, on a side note, Another bug is that "Encoding Method" 1-pass works so well that it works no matter what you select. Even if you select 2-pass you still get only 1-pass. There is no hope in increasing video quality using 2-pass method. It will do only 1-pass and its done.
I probably still have a very old copy of DVDFab 14 or 12 or something. Even though the codecs are old and out of date it does a far better job shrinking file sizes than Unifab does hands down. I might be able to get Nero or some other company to do it if i have to.
I just feel like Unifab is a total loss to me. Even though I paid for a lifetime license I have lost the ability to use the tool because of the bugs and problems and the fact that it will only make monster file sizes now.
So I still love DVD Fab! Best DVD Ripper and BluRay Ripper on the market! I just need to find a new tool for converting I guess.

Unifab gives you extras that you don't get with other AI software... Audio up-mixing, vocals removal, converting from one format to another, HDR Up-converter, video compressor etc. You just get more bang for your buck, and you can install it on 5 PC's. It offers extras like upscaling the audio track from 2.0 Stereo to 5.1 or 7.1
Easy to use and intuitive. Vast majority of options you would want in general.
Excellent product. Have been using DVDFab for years & found it very reliable. UniFab is fairly new as a standalone module & works far better than when integrated into DVDFab 12 (crashed too many times). However, it needs to work better with mp4 files and h265 formatted content, especially when cropping videos. That is hit & miss. Hence, 4-star rating
A very flexible tool and made video maintenance a breeze
It's an easy-to-use application. I have the DVDfab combination and UniFab comes with it. It's convenient when trying to streamline / limit the number of redundant applications I used to have on my PC.
Great products, been using your products since the eighties, never been disappointed, outstanding,
Upgrading to HDR10 and Audio Upmixing are superb in converting the old videos.
