I’ve had a go-to telescope for many years and have enjoyed it immensely; however, it is not easy to use. Too many times, I have seen others buy go-to telescope‘s and become so frustrated with the complexity that the telescope ends up pushed to the back of a closet where resides permanently. The Equinox is different. A person of average intelligence could easily unboxed the telescope, read the quick start guide and begin to use the telescope immediately.

I have also had several contacts with Unistellar‘s support people by email. The contacts have been remarkably helpful.

I can enthusiastically recommend the Equinox without reservation.

A whole new universe to discover.

Love the telescope. As a long time amateur astronomer, this has reopened a whole new universe for me regarding astrophotography of deep space objects and comets. Love the opportunity for citizen science, also. that is the next adventure.

Stellar Product, stellar people.

The people at Unistellar have been very good from the start. Being one of the early backers I have witnessed the challenges of this project and want to thank all for their hard work to make this possible. Special thanks to Franck Marchis for the prompt attention he gave me in February of 2020 when I first got my eVscope. That was stellar in of itself.

I had the common "pinched mirror" issue with my original EV1. Promptly diagnosed and exchanged for new EV 1. When EV 2 appeared I was first in line! Sold EV 1 online at a fair price, new owner thrilled with the scope. I received EV 2 and was pleased with the upgrade, the Nikon eyepiece superb and stability, holding colimation after rough travels a plus.

All in all

All in all, I've found this scope to be rewarding. I own an 8" reflector, and an ED80 refractor (my goto scope). I still use them, particularly for lunar, solar, and planetary observing, but when it comes to deep sky objects, with some few exceptions, the unistellar has become my scope of choice.
Positives:
1.Easy to collimate (once you get the hang of it) and very easy to focus.
2.Tracking seems to be very close to dead on
3.The ability to watch the image accumulate both remotely (on a tablet or phone) and through an eyepiece (the eyepiece provides a slightly sharper image) is a bonus.
4. Setup is simple, taking only seconds.
5. Light pollution is a thing of the past. I live in a rural area where this is not a problem, but out of curiosity, I took the scope to downtown Roanoke, VA, and it did just fine!
Negatives:
1. The images are not as good as you would obtain from a first rate astrophotography setup, but the ease of setup and the simplicity of operation more than compensates for this. So, if you aren't concerned with producing museum quality images, this is probably a better choice for you.
2. Price! Not for the faint hearted.
3. Can't vary magnification or use filters.
4. Although the tracking is excellent for galaxies, star clusters, planetary nebulae, and stars, the scope does seem to have trouble maintaining tracking of diffuse nebulae.
5. Slewing is a tad slow, but acceptable.

Bottom line....if you prefer convenience and you are concerned about light pollution, this is a very good choice...if you can afford the steep price. If you want to look at the sun and planets, then you will need another scope, but there are lots of quality inexpensive scopes out there that will serve the purpose.
If you are interested in producing high quality images, then you should look elsewhere.

Great company and product, missing API integration capabilities!

I love the eVscope and Unistellar has been great to support me, but an open API is a promise from early on that they have failed to deliver upon. It's one of the things I keep looking forward to with the scopes!

Great product

I have been beyond pleased with the Unistellar eQuinox xcope. Fun and easy to use, easy to include others and great images to boot. I have been able to capture images of objects that I never thought I would see.

Impressive when it works, but it doesn’t always

It is an impressive scope, but very sensitive, and the ‘go to’ function frequently doesn’t work if it’s a little breezy, or there’s a few clouds in the sky. Without the ‘go to’ function, the scope is very hard to use. So….I’m a little frustrated at times living in a place that doesn’t always have perfect weather (San Francisco).

Dear James, our telescopes can be sensitive to vibrations at times, unfortunately, we can't control the weather. Clear summer nights are right around the corner for you to enjoy your telescope ;)

Easy to use and I use it most clear nights

Nearly a year since I’ve received mine. In that time I’ve taken many hundreds of images. In particular it’s allowed me to do far more ‘deep sky’ observing from a light polluted city location than I’d imagined possible.
I’m an experienced amateur astronomer so I think I’ve pushed it’s capabilities. I think a complete beginner would enjoy it but if you don’t know the sky and it’s objects then I wonder if you’ll get the best out of it? Maybe, but I’m sure moderately experienced observers will. It’s a 4.5” Newtonian which doesn’t sound big enough but the automated image stacking system allows long enough exposures with little intervention required by the user for deep sky observing.
Good customer service from the French manufacturer (only needed for an initial shipping issue and when I lost a toolkit). No problems so far apart from rapidly filling up PC and Cloud storage with images.

Highly Pleased

My principal contact with Unistellar service was at the outset, when my telescope got delayed or lost in transit. Initial contact with the carrier was fruitless, but once I asked Unistellar to deal with the problem from their end the matter was sorted out effectively, speedily, and in a friendly fashion..

The instrument is excellent - it is easy to use and delivers good images of deep-sky objects. My only niggle is that I find the design of the app rather clunky. the page listing possible targets is not visually attractive. But the app generally works, which is the main thing.

My Unistellar telescope is easy to setup quickly and accurately. Even in a suburb the images of deep space objects are excellent. Because it it so quick to get observing I use it every night the sky is clear.

eVScope is very funny to use.

eVScope is very funny to use since it is very fast to have the scope shooting deep sky pictures. I can profit short periods of time to install it and let it doing the job while I do something else. A conventional scope not permanently mounted requires a lot of time to install and uninstall.
It is also very convenient to use with groups of people while doing a night ske journey from star clusters to planetary nebulae, nebulae and galaxies.

Stunning experience when properly calibrated

My only complaint is that the next generation came out within months of purchase, but this is a fantastic product capable of delivering stunning images within minutes of setting up. Instructions on focussing and collimation are misleading, but follow the tips in the Facebook user groups and you can optimise your experience. That aside, I am very glad I bought it!

Experience with Unistellar as a company

I did a Kickstarter investment in the company over two and a half years ago. As part of the deal I got their eVscope at a significant discount. Over the course of that time they sent a steady stream of emails, pictures and videos keeping participants aware of their progress. All were well done and highly informative. I'm expecting my eVscope shortly and in anticipation they put out a YouTube video entitled "How to Set up Your eVscope." It was up to their usual high quality, highly informative standards. I'm hopeful to write another positive review after I finally get to use it!
