Contact hold

Once I purchased, there was an undisclosed hold on my domain. It was not clear to me that my contact information needed to be re-confirmed, until I put in a support ticket. This cost me time I could've been sharing my site as a contact.

ICANN requires domain registrars to verify that every registrant's contact information is valid and up to date, and we do automatically send a confirmation email to validate a set of new domain registration contact details. Quick and reliable

United used to be a 5 star experience - now not so much

United used to be a 5 star experience, but since they changed the user interface doing anything in the account these days is sub standard.
Service personnel are good still though, thankfully that hasn't changed.
But a redesigned UX is much needed.

Registration is easy. Spam is terrible. Customer service is great.

Registered the domain just fine. Received hundreds of email spam and dozens of phone calls in the week following. This has never happened to me after registering other websites through the same service.

*** UPDATE ***

After United Domains reached out to me regarding the onslaught of spam, their delightful and thoughtful customer service team activated WHOIS privacy for my domain.

Considering how bad spam has gotten (*not* United Domain’s fault) and how much effort United Domains puts into customer care, I think this should be a standard, default service rather than an add-on feature. Opt out rather than opt in.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. All domain registrars are required by ICANN to enter a domain's contact details into a public database. This does allow a publicly registered domain to receive spam from third parties who may mine this public database. Any such third parties are not affiliated with United Domains.

so far this site is great. could be better in some areas

so far this is a great site. supports almost everything I need.

their support can sometimes be too forward. when I started working with uniteddomains.com and wanted to ask them about a problem I had with setting up two paths to redirect to somewhere else, the guy from support didn't understand fully what I asked and did a change without confirming with me before that he got what I wanted.

I don't appreciate when things like that happen. To their credit, after I asked him to confirm with me before, he did the next time.

also, UI could be a little nicer looking IMO :-)
