0%-15% commission is not fair, it should remain less than 10%

I love the concept but the fees for the freelancers are too high and the pay that most of the clients are offering are an insult! I am seeing people offering as little as $4 and hour in the U.S. for a skilled designer. They should be ashamed of themselves for offering that...even adding a 0 to that is too low... NO designer should be accepting that and allowing people to think they can pay skilled designers at that level.
I can't believe Upwork would even allow that!

Your payment security delay is horrible, even when I've already received multiple payments for approved milestones from the same client. Once their payment method is verified and I've submitted milestone work that is approved, WHY do I need to wait another 5 days???

Smooth payment system.

The app’s internal management is solid. But a 15% fee on almost every contract is way too high. I feel like that’s the biggest thing that needs improvement.

Greater services and experience

Look I wouldn't pay to maybe get a pizza so I won't be paying to maybe get a job. They hide this well after you waste your time creating your profile. Probably banking on sunk cost. I'll be honest it's pretty useless if not a net negative experience, so for pettiness sake here's a small net negative given right back.

It is a great platform lot of opportunities for freelancers

Upwork is good it provides with clients and connect freelancers with it....
It just that upwork has become expensive if the proposal did not get see by client the connect should be returned or atleast some of it

I had my account permanently revoked after asking a question within Upwork’s own messaging system about whether direct communication was allowed — and I explicitly stated I did not want to violate any rules or get anyone in trouble.

I never took work off-platform, never attempted to bypass fees, and was trying to comply with their policies. Despite that, my account was blocked for “serious violations” with no meaningful explanation.

The enforcement feels overly aggressive and lacks basic context or common sense. If even asking a cautious question in good faith can lead to a permanent ban, it creates an environment where users are punished for trying to follow the rules.

Payment is always in time, many new jobs daily but still have few scammers using this platform so real developers need to be careful during contract review
