Transit Custom Windows Very Poor

I ordered a full set of windows for a swb Transit Custom 2020 after being attracted by the competitive price.

Windows arrived in good time, and well packaged, and upon inspection everything seemed fine, so I set about cutting the openings out in the vehicle and applied the knock on trim ready for window installation.

Now unfortunately from this point on things took a turn for the worst, fast forward to O/S windows fitted, albeit after a lot of panel beating, and having to use ratchet props on the exterior of the glass in order to attain a just about acceptable finish. Moving onto the N/S l would of expected the fitment to be of similar outcome, however despite my best efforts the glass along the top edges of both windows sits very proud of the body recesses, and is just completely wrong in my experience.

The glass on the barn doors also proved to be challenging, with the top outer edges sitting very proud of the bodywork.

I would like to add that I run a small conversion company, and am perfectly aware of the fitting processes involved, having fitted many windows to the Transit Custom & VW Transporter, and can hand on heart say that these windows are of very poor design & quality, not only because of the ill fitting, but also the rear quarter window has a ridiculous amount of black banding, which obscures a large portion of the viewing area, and finally the overall appearance of the windows are very wavy compared to other suppliers.

To summarise, my overall experience with these windows has been extremely disappointing, and in hindsight I wish I hadn’t proceeded with the fitment.

l would like to point out that this reveiw is by no means a slur on Vanpimps themselves, or any of their other products, but simply my own experience of the Windows l received.

To anyone else thinking of purchasing these windows, specifically Transit Custom, please proceed with caution, l for one, will be reverting back to my usual supplier Camper Glass, as the quality and fitment, is worlds apart.

Hello Simon,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback. I'm happy to hear that your windows arrived quickly and were packaged well.

I've had a look into this on our side and I can see that you placed your order back in September last year. I appreciate that upon initial inspection the windows appeared to be in good condition and therefore you waited to fit them.

Upon having issues with the curve of the windows I believe you contacted our support team. Regarding problems like this, we request pictures so that our team can help you in the best way possible. After we asked for images, we did not hear back from you.

I request that you get back in contact with our team so that they can look into this further for you.

Kind Regards,
Ben - Operations Manager

Poor quality splitter, Poor service

I purchased a Transit Custom standard bumper splitter. This product fits the standard bumper reasonably well. And looks really good on the van (I'd give 5 stars for how this looks and it does transform the front end)

Sadly durability is the splitters biggest downfall. The description "manufactured of strong and durable plastic materials" is simply not true. The splitter is made from quite thin and very brittle plastic, which sadly cannot withstand TOUCHING a kerb at less than walking pace (slowly creeping into a parking space) without exploding.

Contact with van pimps customer service to buy another at a sale price I purchased mine at 3 odd weeks ago (I'm Not asking for Free replacement!) has simply been refused, and follow up emails ignored which I find poor.

Sadly how this fits (places holes are drilled into the bumper) means I now have visible holes if I remove, or if I get a different brand the holes still aren't covered.

If you're in the market for a splitter look elsewhere and ensure you get one made of sturdy materials, this one sadly is just for looks.

It seems that once the sale is made there is little to no customer aftercare, which is a critical part of a business. I have dealt with many car parts companies and 99% want to help in similar situations

Update:

Van pimps response below is inaccurate. I was crawling into a parking space so slowly the moment the splitter touched the kerb it exploded. No collision, the van was not floating above the ground so the weight of the van was taken by the wheels, not the splitter.

The fact van pimps run voucher codes regularly I find it amazing they cannot help out a customer by providing another, especially when a splitter described as durable exploded in such circumstances that one made of durable materials as described would have been completely unaffected.

I would also like to add the reviews controlled by the company that appear on their website are only positive ones they decide to show, artificially inflating their good appearance.

Hello,

We do apologise you feel this way and we're also sorry that you had an unfortunate accident with your front splitter.

After you contacted us on the 25th of January asking for us to honour the previous discounted price of the splitter, our team looked straight into this for you. You explained that the damage on your splitter was due to you having driven into a kerb. As with any front splitter made of plastic, it is unlikely they'd ever take the full force of a van colliding with concrete, without sustaining damage.

Our team advised that we could not honour the discounted price due to the damage being caused by external factors and the code you had previously used being a single time use, as clearly stated on the initial email.

Our splitters are of good quality, however, they cannot withstand the weight of a van against a kerb and we think it is an unreasonable expectation that damage would not be caused in this situation.

We wish you the best of luck with finding another suitable splitter.

Kind Regards,
The VanPimps Team

Item turned up promptly but there was no tracking item sent through so wasn’t sure when it would arrive.
Only problem is they’re not the right door clips for a MK7 transit as they’re too big.

Hi Darren,

I'm happy to hear you received your item promptly. We'll be looking into the tracking issue your order seems to have experienced.

With regard to the door clips, we've checked our website and can see that the description clearly states the original part number that these clips are suitable to replace.

We have removed the clips from the vehicle category you mentioned and I have passed your feedback on to our support team who should be in contact with you soon to offer a resolution.

We're sorry that you're unhappy with your experience here at VanPimps and we hope to have the issue resolved as soon as possible.

Kind Regards,
Ben - Operations Manager

Do not rely on delivery or after sales

I purchased a van window along with an installation kit from this ‘Outfit’ and I refer to them as an outfit as it’s the only word closest to ‘Business’ I could find. I made my purchase Friday 6-12-24 plus £15 for 2 day delivery. On Sunday 8-12-24 I received a email from their courier ‘Fed Ex’ Informing me that my parcel would be delivered Monday 7-12-24 “Your shipment from Van Pimps Ltd is on the way. Need to make any changes to this delivery?” That’s how it read. As I would not be around to receive the parcel it gave me an option to pick up from a local shop to which I took advantage of and chose the local shop they offered. I received an email confirming my request then later that day I received another message saying it had been delayed and would be delivered on Tuesday 8-12-24 This had me concerned as I had arranged for a fitter travelling from Sheffield to install the window in a van for a customer. Tuesday came and I received another message informing me again of a delay and it would be delivered now on Wednesday 9-12-24. I tracked the parcel and all the time it was held up in a depot in a place called Ramsbottom since Monday 7th. Now I had to make the decision to cancel my fitter who wasn’t impressed as he has a tight diary. I contacted Van Pimps who said they would look into it and get back to me. I spoke to a guy called Luke that informed me Fed Ex claimed I chose it to be held at the depot that I have never heard of. I sent Luke A copy of all the email correspondence from Fed Ex and all I got was a thank you and nothing else. I then get a message 11-12-24 from Fed Ex stating they attempted to deliver the parcel again and they could not get a signature. The lies just went on and on till I got a message stating my parcel has been returned to Van pimps. I contacted Van pimps who informed me the parcel arrived today 12-12-24 that seemed a very short period from attempting a delivery and returning it to them????? I have cancelled the order now and demanded a full refund within 24hrs. I will never do business with Van Pimps again with my future 2025 projects. It’s okay to blame the courier, but at the end of the day your courier and your after sales service is part of your business framework, it’s not about taking peoples money. So if you are planning on purchasing anything from this outfit, just be aware of this happening to you.

VanPimps offers a mixed experience

VanPimps offers a mixed experience. On a positive note, their van seat covers and windows are of good quality and enhance the vehicle's overall look. Delivery is prompt, and their products often arrive without damage. However, customer service needs improvement, particularly concerning weatherproofing issues with sliding windows. Some products have been reported to leak, and the company's response to this problem has been unsatisfactory, with no solutions offered. Overall, decent products, but potential issues with specific items and support.

I fitted one window on mi van with the glue bought in VanPimps, and other window fitted with my own glue. This one still there , but the one with VanPimps glue fall down and was smashed against the floor. So ask them to send me a new window for free to compensate the damage caused. They refused saying it wasn't the glue, but the fitting. My other window fitted the same with other glue still on the van. So disappointed!. So unhappy customer.

Hello Joserra,

We're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with your experience at VanPimps.

When fitting a window to a vehicle it is extremely crucial that each step of the fitment process is followed perfectly. Therefore we recommend seeking professional assistance to do so.

Different window bonds can have different processes and if each necessary step is taken when using our bond, the window will not drop out of your van. Many factors could have caused this and we have not seen any other cases of this happening.

Therefore we believe that an oversight has been made during the fitment of the window and in this case we are unable to offer a free replacement.

If you have any other requests, then please get in touch with our team on 0116 441 7550.

Kind Regards,
The VanPimps Team
