Enjoyed our tour

Enjoyed our tour. The guide was exceptional. We will use Veltra for future travels

One suggestion:
We booked Kyoto trip by bullet train from Tokyo through veltra from our residence in the USA. We were able to reserve the morning coach tour only....nothing scheduled for the entire afternoon while our return ticket was booked by veltra on a 8 pm train from Kyoto to Tokyo. However we noticed that some of our fellow travelers from Australia and other countries had an option to reserve the tour for the whole day. We suggest that this option be included for the US travelers as well.

Fortunately we we were able to get tickets on the afternoon tour as there was a cancellation. Our total ticket was more expensive as we had two separate bookings.

We had a good overview of the city as we had only a day.

We had a good overview of the city but wish we stayed longer at the sites than at the wine cellar. It was almost commercial as the cellar was of course trying to make a sale -- we must have stayed more than an hour there. But tourists usually cannot bring around many wine bottles as they are usually gping to other places yet, right, and have limited luggage space.

But the city tour was good as a few hours' overview will allow. We were taken to many places on both sides of the Douro & we had some free time at several places. The guide, Paula, translated to 2 languages, and she did it expertly, trying to hurry & catch her breath a lot. Good tour if you only have a day in Porto.

Comprehensive tour description

I really had an easy review of tours you had listed and was comprehensive enough for us to decide the tours that we were interested in. I like earning points too. So I will continue to use VELTRA.

Terrible cancellation policy

I used Veltra for booking tea ceremony in Kyoto. Had really bad experience.

We were charged for ~28K yen for me and my child. Had to cancel it a day before the event and got back only 14K, because of cancellation policy. Customer service nowhere near Expedia or Amazon level. You won't be able to get a full refund as easily.

First, be careful how they present prices. We booked ceremony for me and my child and later it turned out that I had to pay double price! It turned out that somewhere in details it was saying that there will be double charge for single person (but I was with my child), and you need really careful to find this out before booking.

Second, price as increased after booking. At the time of booking, there was price for single person and later it increased twice.

Recommendations:

- Cancellation policy is not good! Really, don't bother booking here, if there's a risk of your mistake, misleading info on their website, where you can make a mistake. They will not make you full refund. There're plenty of tea ceremony without pre-pay, just pay it on site. You're not risking anything. When you book here, you'll have to take more risks.

- Read all fine prints!

- They play dirty games with display minimum price before the booking and increase it at the checkout page. Don't believe initial prices they display!

- Be careful with currency. It was in yen and made wrong conversion to dollars. We wouldn't buy this tour the price

- Check cancellation policy if something goes wrong.
