Verve Mastercard may serve a purpose for someone trying to build or rebuild credit, but only as a very short-term option. The problem is what happens after the first year. The current fee disclosure shows a 35.90% APR, annual fees that can run $49 to $125, and monthly maintenance fees after the first year that can add another $20 to $40 per month, depending on the credit limit. That makes the card expensive even before any interest is charged.
Some of the high reviews appear to come from people focusing on approval, customer service, or short-term credit rebuilding, rather than the actual cost of the card. In plain terms, many people reviewing this card do not seem to understand how expensive it becomes after the first year. A helpful representative does not make a bad fee structure a good financial product. Don't be financially ignorant.
That lines up with NerdWallet’s review, which describes the card as having “fees upon fees,” including monthly maintenance fees after year one, plus low initial credit limits that can make those fees feel even worse. WalletHub is similarly negative, noting that while the card may be available to people with bad credit and does not require a security deposit, the positives mostly stop there because of the high annual fee and very high APR.
For anyone considering this card, I would strongly suggest reading the fee schedule carefully and treating it only as a temporary credit-rebuilding tool. Pay it in full, use it for maybe 6–12 months if needed, and then replace it before the monthly maintenance fees begin. After the first year, the monthly cost makes this a poor long-term card for most people.
Her expert help and respect I wish I found more like that thank you

We recently paid off our Verve Mastercard in full and decided to cancel the account. However, we quickly realized that we actually still need it! It was a reliable card that served our needs well, so we are planning to come back and get it set up again on 5/12. Overall, we had a good experience with them, which is exactly why we're returning as customers.
Helped build my credit score back up. Easy payments and awarded you for paying more
