Avoid This Branch
We have used the South Shields branch at the Nook for many years but after recent ownership changes we have noticed bad management issues.
After 5 visits in 4 months, with our elderly cat, our request for ongoing medication with out yet another appointment was refused.
SMS's about conditions my pets don't have
Received an SMS that my cat was due his arthritis injection. He doesn't have arthritis so I queried it. I received no response so followed up. Still no response. I called - no-one was available to speak to me according to the person who answered my call. We decided to transfer to another vet so requested they transfer the files and confirm when done. I had to follow up 5 times before receiving a confirmation. The customer service is not good enough - but telling us to book in for a treatment no relevant to any of our pets is disgraceful. When I did speak to someone she said "I called you on the number from the SMS". That was THEIR number on the SMS (eye roll)! Glad to be gone.
BEWARE- DONT PAY TWICE - go to Canley X-ray
I use the WALSGRAVE branch Coventry West Midlands. If you need dental exam I advise you go straight to the Canley branch because they have a new X-ray machine. If you don’t they say they’ll REFER you but in actual fact you will need to pay for another consultation fee to the Canley branch to do the same assessment. I heard them tell several customers they’ll refer them - NICE MONEY MAKER !!!! The vets here are top notch I’m guessing it’s management??? I was so angry and THEY TRIED TO DO IT TWICE!!!!
Devastated
We regularly visited the Golden Grove (Golden Way) clinic for our beloved pooch for health issues and 6 weekly injections.
2 weeks ago our pooch quickly became VERY unwell. I rang the clinic and they said they had no appointments available, despite me describing my dogs condition and letting them know we live 5 mins away and have been regular clients. The receptionist told me the closest vet at this time was at Prospect. We did get to this vet, but sadly we lost our much loved pooch a few hours later.
I rang Vets4pets a few days later and told them what happened and asked them to remove our pet from their records.
Just over a week later I received a text message from them saying my pet was overdue for an appointment. 🤷♀️
There is no loyalty from this vet, and clearly no real concern for pets or their owners. This is a business that operates to make money without genuine care and concern for its clients.
The only positive in this story is that the vet and vet nurse at the Prospect emergency clinic were outstanding, and we were fortunate to experience their care, compassion and expertise.
Note : 2 weeks after my much loved pet’s passing I received a sympathy card from vets 4 pets!!
Wouldn’t seeing my pet at the time of the emergency be BETTER than a card after their death! 😢💔

Vets4pets Ilkeston the worst vets…
Vets4pets Ilkeston the worst vets practice I’ve ever encountered, I took my dog there last November as emergency appt as he became unwell quickly, the vet who saw him said my dog had mild infection prescribed paracetomol and to go in next day for iv fluids, a different vet was on duty and suggested that he may give my pet an abdominal scan I asked how much that was he replied £200 so I agreed (I had already paid nearly £1000 that morning as receptionist asked and made sure I was paying my bill even before he had fluids) the vet rang me in the afternoon to say my dog had fluid coming out of his nose and they were going to slow the IV fluid down, I had to pick up my dog later that day after he had been hours in a cage out the back having treatment by very uncaring professionals not once during my pets treatment did they show any compassion or caring towards my dog never once calling him by his name, anyhow I took him home at 6.30 that night and was asked to take him back the next morning for further tests/treatments, he hadn’t been given any abdo scan at this point but wasn’t told why not! at 02.30 hours I woke to my dog having his bowels open but not able to stand up, he was in a right mess, I cleaned him up best I could and carried him from my bedroom to the lounge where I laid him on towels and sheets and I sat sobbing as I watched my beloved dog die his abdomen was solid with fluids and he never once passed urine from me fetching him home to him passing in the middle of the night, I was utterly heartbroken and really angry at his treatment, I put in a complaint to vets4pets Ilkeston and the email they replied back to me was disgusting they denied everything I accused them of to the fact that the young vet who said he may do an abdomen scan on my pet lied and said I refused to pay for a scan the lies and denial from this vet practice only added to my grief of losing my best friend and the attitude of vets4pets was unprofessional and frankly disgusting yet they get away with treating animal owners like shit, they do not care about your pet they’re only interested in your money, pet owners need to read all the bad reviews of this vetinary practice and avoid it like the plague, I got no satisfactory response from these people and they coveted their tracks when I complained, I blame vets4pets for my dog dying prematurely as I believe if he had been treated properly he would still be here with me today instead of in a casket just a pile of ashes!
Saved my baby toy poodle
My 8 month old toy poodle suffered an anaphylactic reaction and hemorrhaging and was at deaths door when I brought her to Golden Grove vets. She was treated by Dr. Cheryl Lordan who saved her life I will be forever grateful, the staff were wonderful.
We put our trust in Vets for Pets…
Only interested in your money not your pet we sadly lost our beloved pet after having a second surgery, unfortunately he died several days later. We are heartbroken. Go to a reputable vet that has good expertise and skill . Not recommended
Not compassionate.... just money grabbing and do not help customers who have Pet Plan insurance, by contacting the insurers directly to obtain payment...
Vets4Pets inside Pets at Home - Myton Road, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire...
I will shorten this review but make the salient points from today's experience...Wednesday 08.10.2025.
Rang the reception who agreed to ring me back( they did p.m) to say that I could have some medication for my cat's stressed caused Cystitis. I had been already with the same issue to see a vet there in June 2025, and a friend then got some more medication in the same month on my behalf ....4 months later in October ( now- same trouble). However, pointing out to reception that my Pet Plan insurance policy... I had already met the £105.00 yearly excess in June 2025, and as my female cat is 12, which means over 10, you have to pay 20 per cent each visit . I would have to pay approximately £6.00 today, and asked them to kindly claim directly from Pet Plan, as ALL vets I have been with before have done, not ONE EXCEPTION . I am on UC, have a disability and was going to use my little remaining money for bus fares to get to and from the vets to pick up said medication... HOWEVER, the reception informed me that it was their policy to NOT apply directly to Pet Plan unless the bill was £400.00 plus. Pet Plan welcomes vets applying straight to them for the money , with, obviously, client verification over the phone, The receptionist checked with the practice manager and said this was the policy...
I said, I could not pick up the medication if this was the case, and I would not be coming back to the practice either. This policy was not shown in any area of the practice where the public attend with their pets... despicable .
I checked with Companies House online and apparently their Directors are listed in Guernsey = singularly listed. Tax haven? Local government is also Guernsey , says Companies House.... I don't see that they are poverty stricken, do you? They are Limited by Shares. Their registration location is also Guernsey reg no: 38174 ... Perhaps we need to start supporting small, local vets again... In these days of people struggling with finances, these greedy pieces of excrement need to be by- passed. I thoughts vets were caring and compassionate - well, that is what I was led to believe? How do they sleep at night? Easily I expect - as they are feathering their own nests - human ones - as I don't expect birds or their nests enter their empty space where empathy should lie!
PS I reported this to Pet Plan once I had got off the phone, and the Customer Service Agent said that she had never heard of this being done by any vets she had dealt with before... they noted it on my account.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! VET4PETS HENDON!
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! They diagnosed my beloved cat wrongly. Kept her all night for a charge of £1,300. When I picked her up she was severely traumatised. I have a photo I cannot bear to look at. All they suggested was return appointments and medicines at a further cost! There is no manager ever around. The "Vet" Daniel is abrasive and showed no empathy for my cat. She died later if they had diagnosed her properly it would have been easier for her. As she was slightly later diagnosed by another vet who did not charge the earth as mouth cancer. VET4Pets diagnosed a tooth problem and said shove painkillers down her. I would avoid them like the plague They are Not Fit for Purpose! She died not long later and it has taken me some time to be able to write this.
Absolutely dreadfull
Absolutely dreadfull. Booked my cat, noodles in to be euthanised and completed the paperwork. Went in saw the vet who advised nurse would prepare him for his needle. Nurse came in. Have you paid yet. No. When did you intend to pay. Today. How will you pay. Credit card. All the while my cat was getting totally stressed out digging the claws in. Then it was I will go and get the EFTPOS machine. While noodles was digging into me I struggled to get my purse credit card and paid then they took him to get ready. He was gone. My friend was dead and thankfully put on ice until I could make the arrangements. ( or do I thought) I complained to Adelaide’s head office no return call Just a call back from the practice manager who knew why I wad calling even though no details were given. ( Money driven not pet care) I advised I her I wanted to speak with her manager. Following day I receive a call from a cremation service who claimed that the vet practice had arranged a pick up and cremation. How dare they. I have arrangements but not with the company they chose for me. And where can I find a vet who has not been bought out by Vets 4 Pets and No still have not heard back from management and when I call them all I get is a recording. “ Not available “. Looks like my number had been blocked.
I don't like paying for a prescription…
I don't like paying for a prescription for insulin for my dog. My dog was diagnosed as Diabetic. So why do I have to keep paying $40 evey 3 months for a new prescription?
This is very unreasonable.
The insulin my dog requires is not available at the vet.
Why ! Why ! Why !
Showed love for my dog they asked me to…
Showed love for my dog they asked me to collect urine sample which I had then they tested it and charged me £350.
Vets4Pets St.Helens.
After cyst removal surgery at Vets4Pets St.Helens my little Shih Tzu dog Cindy had her post op stitches removed too early by them, resulting in a painful 25mm open wound requiring treatment by the out of hours emergency vet.
There was no apology or can we pay your emergency vet fee, just the opposite they classed Cindy's
necessary return visit to them as a "PERK" adding it to her monthly direct debit health plan and then charging an extra fee for anal gland expression included in the health plan.
When their demands were met and they had been paid, my polite email asking for clarification on the health plan was ignored as they brazenly sent me a
(miscommunication) threatening debt letter.
These people have no scruples they make it up as they go seeking every avenue in their pursuit of monetary gain.
My little Cindy is now registered with a vet more discerning and caring of her needs rather than a monetary value.
I feel a sense of relief removing her from this money obsessed dreadful practice.
B.R.Taylor for Cindy.
Vets4 pets Crawley ,no care for…
Vets4 pets Crawley ,no care for customers that have been there a long time , can never answer get through on the phone ,and no follow ups from complaints ,no empathy for customers who are struggling to pay for expensive vet bills either ,plus the pet plans are constantly going up in price .

Uneducated about pets!!
Andover in Hampshire :
Took my 1 year old dog (rottweiler) to the vets for his vaccinations. Walked in and sat down in the waiting area my dog said hello to all the receptionists and giving them kisses and they loved him! Sat back down in the waiting area and the vet whipped open the door and said my dogs name loudly - instantly my dog was cautious. I was walking into the vets room and he was petrified! He was backing up refusing to go in very scared! I finally got him in and the vet instantly went and got a muzzle which I can understand because he’s nervous, he’s unpredictable. She got him a closed muzzle instead of a caged muzzle. He was absolutely panicking because he couldn’t pant and was struggling to breathe in it. Far to small - yet insisted to put it on. I wanted her to check his ears and giving him a full good look over and she was acting like it was a chore for her to do. She wasn’t reassuring him and she was very scared and flinching at the littlest move he did - even with muzzle on. Walked back out in the waiting area, waiting for the tablets, the reception ladies came over and he was growling and very unsure of them. Never had a problem with him being like this to people. Now he has completely changed! He has been TRAUMATISED by this! His behaviour has changed, he’s petrified of people coming near him and he’s not himself anymore. Being the breed that he is and knowing what people are like, I’m worried for the future! Just please be aware if you use these vets.. they don’t understand dogs no matter what breed!
Shocking
Shocking. I thought they were good but when I complained about something to tge practice they turned against me and showed their true colours. Avoid like the plague.
I’d never take my pets to vets for pets…
I’d never take my pets to vets for pets again took me dog as he wouldn’t stop scratching a sore which had scabbed over. The vet shaved him for no reason cost me £150 only to find out he was infested with fleas and then wanted to do allergy test for £500 he never checked for fleas the vets or the management don’t want to know so il be goin to court with this my advise never use these vets all there bothered about is takein your money not your pets
Very poor service
Signed up for injections, flea and worm treatment. Paid sum up front at time of vaccination and received 3 months worming and flea treatment. Paid d/d monthly and had to phone 3 months later to check how/when next round of treatment due. Told to call back at beginning of August. Did that and told to bring my dog in to be weighed. Did that and told flea/worming would be available in a week. Revived text to say treatment ready for collection. Wrong treatments offered- tablets as opposed to liquid. My dog does not take tablets easily and, although they tried to convince me to accept their alternative. I stood my ground and requested liquid treatment as previous. Told it would be in on Friday- 6 days. Went today to pick up but told it was not available and they did not know when it would be available!! Totally inconvenient and not acceptable for my beloved pet. Asked about cancellation of my monthly subscription and was told to “wait a month to save having to pay £40 leaving fee’!! Must have been in the small print 😏. Had to resort to signing up to a monthly subscription with Pets At Home to secure a single treatment and ensure my precious dog was protected. Cannot express strongly enough my sheer dissatisfaction at Vets For Pets Coventry (Walsgrave Branch).
Awful
Awful, called for an emergency appointment over bank holiday weekend, once I arrived with my dog they said he needed an operation that night and they wouldn't be able to do it and to call other vets. They priced me for a standard surgery for 4k, after 1 hour of pleading for them to do the operation they booked me in for 945 the next morning and gave him some anti inflammatory injections. She also told me to try a few numbers which she had give me these were PDSA & RSPC as he needed it done ASAP. After ringing a few of the emergency numbers no where was taking even emergency surgeries. I managed to get though to a friend's vet before my appointment with a picture of the issue and they said that most cases don't need an operation and that they quoted me 4 times over what they would charge most likely due to vets4pets not wanting to do the surgery.
My dog was quite irate and I felt everyone was just looking at me like I was a peice of s**t Never again!
