Everything went smoothly. Without much discussion about additional insurance or anything like that. We had to pay separately for the additional driver we had booked, but this was also described. W... See more

Great car company. they were available with an emergency for me. I didn't have my physical international drivers licesse (just a photocopy), but i was still able to hire a car. Easy shuttle to and from airport in Olbia. I went to renew for an extra day and that price is crazy expensive, so I opted out for additional days hence why I didn't get them 5 stars. But thank you. You got me out of a pickle (we say in australia).
It was my first time renting and I found Vettura through searching on Google for renting in Olbia, Sardinia IT.
Everything was great, I rented a Toyota Yaris Cross - Hybrid.
Staff was so nice and helpful. They answered to all of my questions.
everything went as planned and great car with no hassle
I recently on one of my trips had a very bad experience with another rental company and was very conscious, but this experience with Ventura in Cagliari has restored my faith since I had an amazing service and would HIGHLY recommend them!
Thank you Ventura, brilliant!
Professional and quick paperwork; smooth transition to the airport; new car; quick return of the deposit; The boys in the office were polite and helpful; only the girl was rude and needs to improve her professional communication skills; showing more respect to clients.
I never write reviews, but I always read them which is why I felt compelled to write one for this company as we only booked through them purely due to the Trustpilot score. In hindsight I am shocked they have such a good score.
The first red flag was once I had booked I never received any form of booking confirmation. I had to send several emails and eventually a whatsapp in order to finally be sent through the confirmation.
Then, when we arrived in Sardinia we had to wait around 25 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. When it arrived it wasn't clear where it would arrive from and in the confusion two other groups who had arrived after us got into the shuttle leaving us to wait for it to drop them off and come back. The shuttle is just a very small mini bus and there is only one, once 4 people had got in with their bags there was no room for myself, my husband and our two children.
When we eventually arrived at the car rental office (a very run down building in the middle of an industrial estate). There were 4 groups ahead of us, two at the counter and 2 queuing. There's no reception area and only two chairs for people to sit in which were already occupied. At 7 months pregnant with a 2 year old and 4 year old we had to sit in the corridor for over an hour and a half whilst we waited for the other groups to be sorted. The check in process was so absurdly slow and there were only two people on the counter.
When it was eventually our turn, over 2 hours since we had actually stepped foot outside the airport, we were told despite us being there at the time we had said we would be (actually an hour and a half later due to their slow processing) the car we had booked had not yet been returned. We were given the option to wait (no indication of how long) or we could have the car that was sitting in the car park that had a foot long crack across the windscreen. At this point the children were so fed up and I needed to sit somewhere that wasn't the floor so we had to take the dangerously damaged car. There was no suggestion that we could have an upgraded car due to this not being our fault, the only options were to wait (even longer) or take the damaged car. No apology at all for this inconvenience.
We then had to sign a document to say we would return the car with a full tank of fuel. We turned the car on and not only was the tank not full but it was actually on red and flashing as empty. I went inside to explain this and we were told "just take a photo" and no they would be unable to update our booking to show we had taken the car with no fuel.
We then had a two weeks holiday, of course involving many trips to the beach with children. Upon returning the car, there was no one at reception, we had to wait ages before someone eventually came to see us despite us being the only customer there. When inspecting the car we were told, despite all the issues listed above and being given a car with a dangerously cracked screen, the car was "too dirty" as there was sand in it. I have small children, I know what a dirty car looks like and this was NOT dirty. There was some sand, as would be expected after two weeks on a island which many beaches. This felt like a blatant attempt to extract more money from us. After a lot of back and forth, mostly about us saying we had been given a dangerous car, it was agreed not to "fine" us for the sand. Then, as predicted, we had to battle about the fuel issue as we of course did not return it full when we had taken it away empty.
Do not use this company. I wish we had paid a bit more and used a different company. I cannot see how anyone else would have any different experience or have to wait any less time than we did. It was not busy and we still had to wait an absurd amount of time. In peak season I can only imagine the hours and hours you have to wait to finally be given a car...(and probably not even the one you booked!).
I had a terrible experience with Vettura and strongly advise others to stay away from this company.
First of all, I had to wait over an hour at the airport for the shuttle service, with no clear communication or updates. After a long trip, this was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional.
To make matters worse, the phone number provided in the booking confirmation was completely invalid, so there was no way to contact them for assistance while I was stranded. The car I eventually received was old and already stained, yet they still charged me an additional fee for “extra cleaning” when I returned it. This feels completely dishonest and unjustified.
Overall, the entire experience was unacceptable. Between the lack of support, poor service, and questionable charges, it’s hard not to see this as a scam. I would not recommend Vettura to anyone—avoid booking with them at all costs.
Contrary to the reviews, I had a great experience with Vettura. Everyone was very friendly and not pushy at all. I reserved the car on Discovercars, but bought the Gold insurance from Vettura themselves. When I returned the car they didn’t even check anything because I had taken the insurance. I do recommend taking insurance because other people might create problems for you, like bumping their door into yours. I was lucky and they gave me a brand new car.
Also the pick up from the airport went very smooth, they were always very responsive kn Whatsapp. Overall I had a good experience.
It was everything fantastic according to all information and services we received.
Be warned....I wish I would have read all the one star reviews. Take very detailed videos and pictures before leaving. This is not a reputable company. They push their own insurance very hard and then when you do not buy it (because we have our own insurance), they find scratches on the car when you return it. They know the cars that don't purchase their insurance and they WILL find scratches (however small.)
*Stefano (?boss of Vettura) pretended to call the police on us. Causing great distress to my wife and 4 year old.
We rented a Citroen C3 from the cagliari branch. On the second day we realised there was an issue with the reverse gear - making a loud noise / car shaking.
After multiple phone calls and emails eventually spoke to Stefano in the Olbia office. He told me to bring the car back to Cagliai.
On speaking to him I asked if I could video the car reversing so I could have a record of the issue with the vehicle to protect our deposit etc. He became extremely defensive and walked away. He then said it might have been me who broke the gear box. At this point I said I would record the remaining conversation. At this point he told me I was breaking the law and starting shouting in front of my family and tried to wrench my phone off me. He then phoned the Italian police (I knew this he was pretending) but this was extremely upsetting / scary for my family and 4 year old. I checked later and I had broken no Italian / Sardinian laws. It is legal to record phone conversations (without consent) and record in person ( with the other person's knowledge). He eventually calmed down and pretend to cancel the blue light response from the Italian police. A phone call that took all of twenty seconds! 🙄
One positive was the very kind lady (who previously went to university in Cardiff - sorry I don't know your name) who was also a Vettura employee who was there when we finally dropped off the replacement car. She was super helpful, kind and professional.
Everything was great, very fast service at pick-up and return, new car.
