Shocking charges, absolute rip off and cannot be trusted. - this company should be banned. There are queues in their offices of people that have all made the same mistake of paying online with an amex card and not being allowed to pay with the card in their offices. They then charge you another 200 euros to get the car hire with a debit card, they will not accept any amount that you can provide on a debit card.
Similarly, for any traffic violations or speeding fines you will be charged a 61 euro admin fee on top of the charges you recieve.

Positive experience with Viaggiare Rent in Alghero. We decided to return the car in Cagliari that same morning and they accommodated this change quickly applying the standard fee for returning the car in a different location. The car was very clean and working well. We didn't have any major issues during our trip, so cannot advise on "something-went-wrong" scenario. Overall recommended.

Took the car back with about 5 Euro less petrol that i was given due to local station being closed. Tried to pay for petrol on arrival but they wouldn’t accept it. Instead charged my credit card 45 Euro. This was always going to happen when i didn’t accept their rip off insurance as i went with a 3rd party.

The car also had a lot more scratches that was on their forms so i had to do an inspection with the lady on the front desk and film it.

I will avoid this company at all costs in the future.

Never rent from this company. Worst car rental experience I’ve ever had and the customer service is terrible. If they can find a way to charge you extra money, they will do it - and their fees are extremely high.

Really great service at collection in Alghero

If you want a relaxed vacation, do not choose this rental company. Basically everything was ok on our holiday until the last moment. The rented car was ok, we didn't scratch anywhere. Then we took back the car for check, it turned out the forced lock is not operating. Naturally we really surprised this thing because we didn't even think about it to use the forced lock ,since the car operating with the central lock. Of course, nobody had showed the car when we picked up so we couldn't know about this problem. After that she immediately suspected us we caused the problem although we didn't that this problem existed. Interestingly, there was only one mini note on the damage list with this text: "serratura ok". It meant in English : Forced lock is ok. All this despite that nobody tried to the forced lock is operating. The "dear colleague" therefore wanted to charge us 1,300 euros in damages. The joke is that we had full insurance for the rented vehicle, but according to their claim, this insurance does not apply to the mechanical problem. Another strange coincidence...Of coure we did not admit to something that we did not commit and from which it is clear that this is all a scam. So no one should ever rent a car from them, because they will surely try to scam.

Don't trust VIAGGIARE rent a car! In 11 May of 2023 I went to return the car to the agency at the Alghero airport, Sardegna, after a week stay in a quiet town. The lady in the counter as soon as she got the keys just went straight to the car keylock without even looking at the car, and told me that I had a forced keylock (cerratura dannegiata). She also informed that I had to pay 500 euros right away. I never used the keylock before and I was all the time in a small town, how was this possible? I was robbed before and the outside of the keylock was strangely intact, usually robbers ruin and scratch everything when they try to open a car. I was in shock and not knowing what to do and noticed that at my side in the counter there were two french-speaking old ladies who were also experiencing the same issue and had to pay 1300 euros for the same reasons (ruined keylock and more). They were completely disoriented... what is the probability of different clients being robbed in the same way? I came to this site to denounce them and in surprise I found numerous complaints stating the same problem over and over again with VIAGGIARE. Just check bellow comments! Because you are a tourist and don't understand the language and are in a hurry to catch the plain you don't have time to react properly! My advice: Call the Alghero airport police (Carabinieri) immediately when this happens! I don't know if they can help anyway as there are no proofs whatsoever of the real facts. But if everybody complaint they will start looking at it more seriously.

If it will be possible i will give a zero!!
Rent a car on Friday, Sunday with the same card they denied the rental because the card was not valid...
Tried to make me.pay 70euros more...
Ruined my vacation!!

Avoid this fraudulent company that is very organized to get you to pay.
Upon arrival at the airport, they let you digitally sign a contract of about 10 pages via your mobile phone, you don't have the time to read it and later you won't be able to request a copy of the contract. At arrival they ask for a deposit of 600 €.
Via Whatsapp they ask to make a video of the car before and after the rental period and to take a photo of the fuel gauge.
After a short holiday of 3 days in Sardinia we had a early flight on Sunday at 6:00 AM, we parked the Fiat 500 in their car park at 4:30 AM and we left the key in the their key box. The car was left in exactly the same condition and without damage, as proof we also made the video. However, around 11 AM, when we were already back in Belgium, we received an e-mail that they had found a scratch on the left door and sent us a report with 2 very unclear photos. "in the check of the car you rented we found a damage that wasn't in the system". When we showed with our very clear video that there was no damage when we left the car in their parking lot, they immediately referred to the contract, which would state that the renter is responsible until the check out inspection. "Like you can read in the terms and conditions of our company, you are responsible for the car until we take the care in charge for the check".
We asked several times to take clear photos because we suspected that they had been edited, but they just sent the same very unclear photos again. Two days later they sent an invoice and deducted 315 € from our deposit.
Very cleverly system established by this rental company. Afterwards on various platforms we can read that we are not the only ones who have had very bad experiences with this company, so be warned!

Everything went perfectly fine in Viaggiare Alghero airport. No problems with the car when collecting, during the rental or returning.
We could see other people having issues with their card but I understand that if you have a CREDIT card then it should be fine.
Competitive pricing.

The worst experience with rental company in Alghero. They forced us to buy full cover for insurance. We didnt want insurance. But they dont accept debit card, only credit card. But if you pay full cover insurance, debit card is not problem to use. Its weird. They stole money for tourist.Be carefull with this. When your want to get money back, they give you only 70% off amount. Never more. Arrogant seller.

I was not informed I had to leave an £800 credit card deposit. Paid an additional 175 euros for paying with a debit card and the 250euros extra deposit has not been returned to me despite endless emails. I would never use this company again

Hired a car in Alghero, Sardinia. The pickup/drop off point is 5-10 minute walk from the airport terminal (not where Google Maps says it is). The manager was great, she picked us up from the airport, ran through the car (Fiat 500 XL) and was there when we returned aswell. The location is understaffed as there is one person dealing with new rentals and returns, so if there are other bookings, expect to wait around. But service is worth it, and it's very good value for money!

Total scam
No cooperation in regard to their stupid credit card policy. The website we booked the card on did not mention that viaggiare only works with CREDIT card in the DRIVERS NAME. We only had a DEBIT card, payed full insurance on discovercars.com. Because we only had a debit card they kindly “offered” us an easy solution: pay an additional 35€/day, as an insurance with Viaggiare, because they dont recognise the one we bought on discovercars.
We also kindly refused their offer

Worst rental experience ever, totally ruined our vacation.

We booked a car and paid an advance, only to be informed at the desk that we will be charged an extra 35€/day because we do not have a credit card with our names in order to pay for the deposit.

I mention that we booked via an agency with full insurance that mentioned that we don’t need any extra coverage from viaggiare and we were not notified at any time about this condition.
We canceled the reservation and lost the advance payment.

Just an awful scam

The service was excellent and the agent was very helpful.
