A useful means to facilitate payments for charity workers/volunteers
We use Volopa at our small charity to provide cash cards for our project staff to use for petty cash payments. It is a really convenient, low risk solution for charities who work with volunteers, for instance, to provide a means to cover petty cash costs without leaving people out of pocket or requiring access to the organisational bank account. It has clear, easy to use reporting, meaning you can keep an eye on spending with the facilty to upload receipts via their online platform. Topping up the cards is very straight forward with their auto top up feature. We've had a very smooth experience implementing Volopa into our everyday work, and the Volopa team are very responsive.

Volopa - saving us time
We introduced prepaid Volopa cards a year ago as managing petty cash and expenses for non office based staff was time consuming for all concerned. As a small charity minimising administrative overhead is helpful and Volopa has enabled us to spend more time and resources on what we do best, supporting people with a visual impairment to lead independent lives.
We have used the Volopa prepaid cards to replace our petty cash system and to manage staff expenses, they are also utilised for occasional one-off major expenditures. This ensures staff are not personally out of pocket and has eliminated the need for expense reimbursements. From the staff perspective receipt capture via the mobile app is straightforward and automatically uploaded onto the platform.
Day-to-day administration on the platform is a workable process, and the customer service team has been consistently excellent—responsive, helpful, and highly supportive. It has been very easy to set up and adjust controls on the cards via the online platform and integration with our accounting software has further streamlined financial reporting and oversight.
Also want to stress that customer support has always been excellent, with prompt and effective assistance whenever required
Extremely Happy with our new Volopa System
Our Company has been using Volopa for almost one year now, and we are very happy with this system. Support staff have been brilliant, extremely helpful and forthcoming with assistance. Our card users, and finance team on the admin side, find the Volopa Cards usage and tracking so much better than what we have been using before and it has made our processes much more simple and easy to use. Very easy and efficient solution
For a small charity like ourselves using Volopa has been a huge benefit to our team both day-to-day and long-term. The Volopa cards make paying for things much more safe, secure and reliable and the Volopa account enables us to analyse spending and plan more effectively.
The system itself is really easy-to-use and some of the recent additions/developments to it will be of further great use to us.
We've also benefitted from the support of the team on a number of occasions - they have always responded and supported us quickly when we've had any questions so this has always been a great reassurance (shout out to Matthew in particular for the support that he's provided!)

Volopa has been great for our charity. It has meant that staff can use their individual Volopa cards rather than have to pay for expenses themselves and then claim them back.
We also use the cards abroad and love that the cards can easily have extra funds added to them and be enabled so cash can be withdrawn then restricted again once the work trip is over.
We have been able to personalise the coding within Volopa to match the charity's. Staff code the transactions themselves and then we download the data and upload it to the finance system. This has saved a lot of time and empowered employees to code each transaction as soon as it has happened and also upload the receipt.
Volopa customer support is great. Volopa are constantly coming up with improvements and are keen to hear how they can help.

Following the recent announcement
Following the recent announcement, that this is now to be a paid for service, I have tried reaching out to customer service and account managers for refund of balance and account closure but have had no response.
Adjusted 20/06/2025. Volopa have reached out to me following the above review, where vrey professional and resolved all outstanding issues. I would recommend that they review their customer service provision as it shouldn’t take a public expression of dissatisfaction to resolve simple requests. I was informed that an email had been sent, this was not received, email while a very effective tool is not guaranteed to be delivered and their customer service team should factor this in with the way they handle tickets. I had in fact sent several emails over the course of a few weeks so would maintain a view that there is a key piece of work that needs to take place to correct this. Review revised from 2-4 stars, I would also state that I had exceptional service from previous account manager, mostly about encouraging me to progress with system trial. Had it not been for the recent change we would have likely continued. Thank you for actioning my public request so promptly

Tony at Volopa is our account manager and has been since transition from the Amex FX payment systems to Volopa but it's been a pleasant easy to use experiance and solution so far for sending remittance to our suppliers who need to be paid in a foreign currency and we get the reassurance of an "invoice" for each payment, he's always been on hand to handle any payment no matter no big or small and it's certainly a LOT cheaper and cost effective than paying with cards and simpler than a normal wire transfer for people like me who are not familiar with how these payment systems work

After using AmEx, Revolut, and Wise, I recently made the switch to Volopa, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my decision. Following the closure of AmEx in 2023, I turned to Revolut and Wise for their superior FX conversions, but I encountered a significant drawback—lack of human support. When dealing with missing payments, chatting with a bot just didn’t cut it.
