It all started in 1999 when our founder, Kevin Sproles, then 16 years old, started building custom websites for clients. Talking to customers, and building their dream was a passion from the beginning. Doing it all, from sales to support, to product design, Kevin knew what needed to happen to be able to help more people, and soon the first version of Volusion was born: an all-in-one tool for people to run their business. From the beginning, it was easy to use, and we were there if you needed help. Today, that’s still true. Kevin and 250+ more Volusioneers are a phone call away, 24x7 to help you reach your goals. And product innovation is at the forefront. This is only the beginning… just wait, we’ve got even more great things in store for you to come.

I enjoy the control over my site that comes with partnering with Volusion!
I have been with Volusion over a decade, but they have really upset me with a recent email.
I have been a very happy Volusion customer for over a decade and recently I received a email stating that I could not sell certain items on my website. Volusion is about to lose me to Big Commerce.
Good solid choice of shopping cart.

Not as configurable as some, but more functionality built in right out of the box.
Limited Integrations & Have Not Innovated Like Other Platforms
Longtime customer and the title says it all. We are in the process of finding a new store.
Great job
While I have used Volusion with another company to my satisfaction this was a new venture. We had a few challenges at the outset but it was not the fault of Volusion and the support team jumped on the case helping us resolve the issues...with a smile on their face.
Support is not responsive/Very poor communication
Support is not responding to us. We have problems with our storefront, I have a ticket with Volusion since Friday, I followed up again today, and I reached out through the chat portal, and no one is responding. It has been 4 days since our store has not been working properly, and we are ready to look at other vendors if this is the level of service that we can expect.
We Muddle On Reasonably Well
It's just complicated. Everything is complicated and has to be done in a particular manner. The developers aren't really concerned with the end user so it's up to us to learn their terminology and logic paths. Then, after time goes by, correcting things for them becomes a monumental task, so they just add on to the less-than-intuitive ways of doing things. I can't blame them for that and it's pretty much the same with any host that provides a shopping cart. Keeping up the store is just so NOT EASY inside their system. Volusion support is generally quite helpful (though not always easily accessible) and we muddle on reasonably well.
Love the platform, but
Love the platform, but...
I love the platform and the support I get. But I am missing the ability to have buyable pins on Pinterest. With social media becoming more and more important, that has become a very important factor for me. Once Volusion finds a way to incorporate that, I would give it a 5 star rating.
I wish there was a better way to …
I wish there was a better way to provide ideas for system upgrades. I tried uservoice, but it took forever to even get my suggestion approved to be posted. I should be able to tell volusion, hey this is something that we need, and we should be able to work out it. For example, I should be able to select specific shipping for certain products if necessary. For example, we sell Yamaha parts, including oil, and oil can only be shipped by Ground. I should be able to select for that product that only ground is available for it. right now a customer can get an order through with expedited shipping and I have to contact them and tell them we can't ship it by expedited shipping.

Getting fairly technical tech support is tough.
SSL certificate issues are a worry.
the sales person indicated that it was …
the sales person indicated that it was a one price solution and we reviewed my current website and he gave me a quote.
then when i went to set up i found that everything that i needed was an additional charge.
hated it to be honest you should refund the set up payment that i made for you.
Too many people involved
Too many people involved, it's overwhelming for the inexperience web builder. They nickel and dime you for design services that should be pretty simple, but purposely don't put adequate specs so when you attempt to design it yourself, it doesn't come out right. Only 1 revision allowed, 1 phone call. We opened an account early November, it is now end of January and my site is still not up. I am using Volusion as my merchant, of which they will profit from. If my site is not up, they don't profit. Nobody seems to really walk us through this unless we pay more money. I"m almost considering cancelling the entire thing.
So much to cover on one small survey
So much to cover on one small survey. Very happy overall with Volusion, especially love the new Paypal software update. Wait time for live chat can be a bit longer than we like, but it is bearable. Looking forward to 2.0 and some exciting upgrade possibilities.
For straight forward store applications …
For straight forward store applications without specialized development requirements, I always look to Volusion first for my clients. Volusion Tech support always follows through.
Have used Volusion for many years now
Have used Volusion for many years now. It doesn't feel very leading edge, but it's stable. Have researched other hosts but frankly, none of them sound any better. I can customize just about anything in regards to Volusion to make my site the way I want it (assuming I have the coding skills to make those changes). Their weakness has always been support and that's still true. I hate bandwidth fees when my site is so light weight. Seems like 404 errors from people who are trying to access pages on other sites but entering our URL are our biggest bandwidth drains. It hardly seems fair that I get stuck paying for those as there's nothing I can to do prevent people from entering urls that have never existed on our site.
I am not extremely computer savvy
I am not extremely computer savvy. Volusion has helped me a lot with my store. The only complaint that I have is their fraud alert system. Their is always a 1% fraud rating. Then when there have been 10 of them, they don’t give one. I don’t think they should charge for extra fraud ratings.

your representatives are very cordial
your representatives are very cordial
my main complaint is that they're under-educated and lack the ability to provide enough information past basic set up mode - and this has been a complaint of mine for a while
they don't seem to know much about themes, for example, other than what's already available in the knowledge base and don't provide a contact who may know more
