Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed and honest feedback. We’re really sorry to read about your experience, as this is absolutely not the kind of experience we want customers to have behind the shower curtain.

It sounds like there are a few different issues here, both with the product itself and with the subscription experience, so we completely understand your frustration.

In terms of the applicator and shower mount, Bob was originally designed to wash your “bits and bobs”, with the long applicator helping reach harder-to-reach areas more comfortably. That said, we completely appreciate that the experience won’t suit everyone’s preferred way of washing. The shower mount also works best on smooth, dry surfaces such as glass and tile, although we know this can still be frustrating if your setup isn’t compatible.

We’re particularly concerned to read your comments around cancellation and orders continuing unexpectedly. That’s certainly not the experience we aim to provide, and we’d really like the opportunity to properly investigate what’s happened here for you.

We really appreciate the feedback on bar longevity, too. Our community typically tells us their bars last around 10–15 washes, although we know this can vary depending on washing style and shower length. Since moving to our new supplier in Scotland, we’ve focused on creating bars that are highly lathering and moisturising, which can mean they go down a little faster for some customers.

We also completely hear you on the idea of a larger bar size. We're working hard behind the shower curtain on Bob XL bodywash bars, keep an eye on our Weekly Wash for updates.

We completely understand your points around lather, longevity and value for money. Bob can take a little getting used to as it’s a completely new way to wash, and for anyone struggling with lather, a quick, firm circular motion with the applicator usually helps build things up properly before spreading it from there. We’ve also recently upgraded our formula to deliver a richer lather and stronger scent.

In terms of longevity, our community typically tells us their bars last around 10–15 washes, although this can vary depending on washing style and shower length. Since moving production to our new supplier in Scotland, the bars have been designed to be highly lathering and moisturising, which can mean they go down a little quicker for some customers.

We also appreciate we’re not the cheapest option on the market. As a small startup, we’ve chosen to focus on high-quality ingredients and UK manufacturing, both of which come at a premium, although we’re constantly looking at ways to improve value for our community.

Firstly, we’re really pleased to hear you enjoyed the design, packaging, colourways and delivery experience. Creating something that feels different to the standard shower shelf clutter was a huge part of why Bob was created in the first place, so it’s great to hear those parts landed well for you.

We also really appreciate your honesty around where you feel the experience still needs refining. As a new startup we are learning every day, and you’re absolutely right that there’s a lot of trial, testing and iteration happening behind the shower curtain as we continue improving both the product and subscription experience.

In terms of the lather, Bob can definitely take a little getting used to as it’s a completely different way to wash. A quick, firm circular motion with the applicator usually helps build the lather up properly before spreading it from there. We’ve also recently upgraded our formula to improve both the richness of the lather and scent strength.

On longevity, we completely understand your frustration. The 10–15 wash estimate is based on feedback from our wider customer community, but we know wash style, shower length, body hair, and frequency of showering can make a huge difference — especially for customers with active lifestyles or those showering multiple times per day.

Your point around subscription timing is completely fair, and it’s something we’re actively reviewing as we continue refining our bundles and refill options. Soapscriptions can also always be amended from your account to get the bars sooner or later as needed.

You’ve actually hit on a great tip there — keeping the bar lower down in the fibres really does help build a much richer lather while making the bar last longer too. Bob can take a little getting used to at first as it’s a completely new way to wash, so it’s brilliant to hear you found the technique that works best for you behind the shower curtain.

We’re pleased to hear the packaging made a good first impression, but we’re sorry the experience with the applicator and bars didn’t live up to expectations after that. Bob can definitely take a little getting used to as it’s a completely different way to wash. The applicator was originally designed to help reach those trickier areas behind the shower curtain comfortably, but we completely understand that everyone has their own preferred way of washing, and it won’t feel right for everyone.

In terms of the lather, a quick firm circular motion with the applicator usually helps build it up properly before spreading it across the body. And always ensuring the bar is raised enough using the + button on Bob. We’ve also recently upgraded our formula to improve both the lather and scent strength. Because our bars are made with naturally derived ingredients, they can behave a little differently from standard supermarket soaps. We’re especially sorry to hear about the itching you experienced afterwards. While everyone’s skin reacts differently to ingredients, that’s obviously not the experience we want anyone to have, and we completely understand why that would put you off continuing with Bob.

We recently upgraded our formula to make the bars more moisturising and improve the lather, which can also mean they go down a little quicker for some people.

We’re constantly reviewing this though, as we know getting good value from your washes is important. We recently introduced our Bob bundles to help bring the cost per bar down a bit for customers washing with Bob regularly.

We’re really sorry to hear that you didn’t get a quick lather you were hoping for from the applicator.

We’ve recently upgraded our formula to deliver a richer lather and stronger scent. Because our bars are made with naturally derived ingredients (and skip sulfates), they can feel a little different from standard supermarket soaps, but we know how important a good lather is.

Our recommendation is to ensure both your skin and the applicator are fully wet before use. Then, apply in circular motions to create the best lather and maximise efficiency with your applicator.
