Stuck in Tax Verification Despite Providing Sensitive Data
I applied for the “Project Lynx - Audio Recording Transcriber - Turkish” role at Welocalize (Welo Data) and successfully completed multiple assessment stages, including language, culture, and marketing-related evaluations, as well as the AI interview.
As part of the process, I was required to submit sensitive personal information, including my ID number and photos of my ID (front and back), which I completed without any issues.
However, during the Tax Verification stage, when I entered my ID number as instructed in the guidelines, I received the following error:
“Thank you for your interest in Welo Data. Unfortunately, we are unable to proceed with your application at this time.”
I created a support ticket and, starting from March 2, 2026, I had multiple email exchanges with M. P. (Welocalize Talent). They requested my ID photo again, which I provided, but there has been no progress since then.
The only response I keep receiving is:
“Our internal team is actively working on investigating and resolving this issue. At this stage, no action is required from your side. We will update you as soon as the issue is fixed or if any additional information is needed.”
Even when I followed up again on April 2, 2026, I received the exact same response. I also suggested possible solutions and requested a manual tax verification, but no action has been taken. Although resolving the issue manually would have been possible, this has been ignored. It is clear that the fact that the issue has not been resolved for over a month is not of much concern to them.
As a result, I am unable to start the project even though it is active.
If there is a known issue in this process, why are candidates asked to submit and process sensitive personal data such as ID information and photos?
This experience has been frustrating, time-consuming, and lacks transparency.

I was invited to apply to a job
I was invited to apply to a job, based on my location and resume. When I did apply, the site told me I was not able to apply to the job. I send an email to support to know what went wrong. After a week I recieved as a reply a basic rejection letter??? I contacted support once more, asking if they could please answer my question, as I was not even able to apply to the job.
Response in short: " We have no idea, and blocken your account. You can't reply on jobs in the future. Never seen such an unprofessional company
They are scammers
After 1 hour exam, they declares I've failed. But the exam was clean, I can challenge with my exam.
These people are SCAMMERS
These people are SCAMMERS. BE CAREFUL. I was approached by a person called Brett Erickson regarding a translation project (50 pdf pages worth 2,000 Euros). I had been approached by Welocalize a couple years earlier about a position in the company, so I didn't really consider that this project could be a scam. A couple of weeks into the project I asked this person to send me his corporate email (until that time he was only sending me emails from his personal gmail account). He gave some reason why he couldn't do it, which of course I didn't believe. It was at this time that I started to get suspicious. So, I tried calling at least four of the company's offices (London, New York, Thessaloniki, Italy) and no one would answer the telephone (red flag). We would also communicate via WhatApp, where he sent me a picture of himself driving through the English countryside, a picture of him at the airport before his trip to the USA, a picture of hism driving through the USA countryside (red flags). As I dug deeper, I finally found this webpage where other people posted their problems (some people also had been assigned a similar project to my own: 50 pages, 2000 Euros). I sent him the link to his gmail account, and called him out on this problem. Miraculously, from that point forward, I couldn't send him any other emails. They would always return back to him. I stopped all communication with him and demand that he first pay me and then he would get his translation. Obviously, he never contacted me again, because, from what I have understood, all this company wants you to do is register or subscribe to them at a cost. THAT'S THE SCAM. They dangle (in my case) a translation project. You think that you will get paid but then they say first register and subscribe (which you do at a cost. Thankfully, in my case it never reached that point. I just lost about 2 weeks of my time. GOOD LUCK everyone!!!
Unpaid Training Disguised as an Exam
Welo Data calls it an “exam,” but it clearly functions as job training. After you finish the exam, there is no training afterward, the exam is the training. 4+ hours unpaid.
I spent over six hours across two days…
I spent over six hours across two days taking this exam, putting in maximum effort and paying attention to every single detail. However, despite following the guidelines with extreme care, I did not pass. The evaluation criteria are so incredibly strict and specific that the entire process feels designed to make you fail, rather than to actually test your skills. It is very disappointing to dedicate so much professional time to such a difficult and opaque process without any positive outcome. The difficulty level is simply unrealistic
Awful
Completely unprofessional and disorganized. They just make you waste your time with ridiculous test tasks and end your contract for no reason. You can't withdraw funds below a certain amount and the support team doesn't help.
Pure Deception: Failed an exam I never even started!
I had a shocking experience with Welocalize's recruitment process that proves their total lack of credibility. I was waiting for a fresh link to take 'Part 3' of the Rater Exam after the previous one expired. They sent me the new link, and literally ONE HOUR later, I received an automated email stating that I failed the exam!
How can someone fail an exam they haven't even opened yet? This is a clear case of 'Mass Automated Rejection.' They don't evaluate your skills or look at your performance; they just clear their queue by rejecting everyone regardless of whether they took the test or not. It's a waste of time and an insult to professionals. If you're looking for a fair opportunity, stay away from this messy and dishonest system
Overall waste of time
Overall waste of time, i get an email saying i passed my exams and then a week later i have failed. After sharing a lot of personal information and spending a great deal of time, i believe i need to make this review public on all platforms i own so as to save others the headache. This is completely unprofessional, which justifies the lowest rating and fails to meet user expectations on YMYL topic. This is a scam, run!
I had a very bad and shocking…
I had a very bad and shocking experience with Welocalize. They assigned me a task, and after I completed it, they told me I would receive a payment of $2000. They said there was a “procedure” to get my money.
When I informed them that I am from India, they still said they processed my payment to a Malaysia bank and asked me to pay different charges to receive it—IMF code fee, COT code fee, currency exchange fee, and more. Every time I paid, they created a new reason to ask for more money.
Like this, they took around ₹2,00,000 from me.
Later, they gave me a fake agreement saying no more payment was needed. But after that, they again started asking for extra money, saying it was for “delay charges.” This is completely unacceptable and clearly a scam.
Because of them, I lost my hard-earned money and now I am in debt. They gave false promises, fake documents, and kept trapping me into paying again and again.
This company is completely fake and untrustworthy. Please do not fall into this trap.
I am requesting anyone who reads this to guide me on how to get back my money. I don’t want any extra money from them—I only want my ₹2,00,000 back.
Weloclize is Legit
First, this is very very geniune review , beacuse i was one of who frustrated due scam websites like appen and oneforma , but weloclize is very very legit platform. Lot of negative reviews beacuse of tight level of assessment and overall process. But if you invest foucused time , you will get tasks and project 100%. I earned 10$ in two week by search quality rater , just rater exam was quite diffucult.but after got selected payment made in 2nd week without problem. Due to platform NDA aggrement , i can't share payment invoice but trust me , its 100% legit.
Edit :-
Its my 3rd week and third payout of 40 USD by only working 4 hrs roughly a week. Seriously Great. I Wish my this role never take down by them.
Pocket money going on😍
Not allowed to apply for a job at Welocalize, account deleted.
I applied for the Scout Search Rater position. When I filled out the application and submitted, it was instantly rejected.
I sent a message to Welocalze regarding the issue and I was told the following:

Scam. They have no intentions of paying you
This company has no intention of paying freelancers and appears more interested in collecting money from them instead. I completed the assigned work and requested payment, only to be told that I needed to purchase a “Company ID” before I could be paid. After that, additional unexplained fees kept being introduced—one after another.
When I informed them that I was no longer interested and requested a refund, they demanded yet another fee just to process the refund. This is BULLSHIT, extremely unprofessional and unethical behavior. They consistently avoided clear explanations and acted as though they didn’t understand the issue.
Very poor business practices. I told them about the review and send link for them to check. They dont even care. I strongly recommend avoiding this company— Dont even deserve a star.
Not a scam but avoid it
Legitimate work I worked for them for three years making around 1300/2000€ each month but since may 2025 they decided they can pay you when they feel like it, the pay now is ridiculous and they infiltrated the discord freelance group chat to avoid dissent and unionization, they used to say everything will be back on track by Christmas but it didn't.
avoid at all cost.
Disclaimer:
Don't listen who say it's a blatant scam they don't ask you for money and they won't contact you first, if this happens you are being targeted by a scammer who is landing jobs on welocalize on several different accounts with fake/stolen ID and is looking for people to scam and cash out on their work.
Data collection rather than job opportunity...
It was a relieve to see that it's not only my impression, but this company is just wanting to get personal data. At the beginning of the year they refused me for exactly the same job I'm now selected for. What's changed in 10 months? Strange issue.... I'm not going to continue with the selection procedure. No time to loose...
Welocalize is totally unprofessional.
Welocalize is totally unprofessional.
The company post on linkedin and other platform non exixtent job opportunities pushing you into subscribing to their platform.
Once you are there if you ask why the situation is not as they promised they immediately kick you out without any explanation.
If you ask for explanation you only receive automated responses.
After that every now and then they will send you email telling you to go back cause there are several new job opportunities (unexistent).
If you try to go back you still are locked out they still do not reply.
It is a total scam, it is just a money machine that works without producing anything. The people that managed to work for them say they are not payed that much and it is time wasted.
They all are fraud
They all are fraud, first I say that I'll not pay any kind of upfront, then after completing the work, they say that you pay the upfront fee.
Awful experience
Poor labor ethics
Shit company with very poor labor ethics.
Made me lose time with tests and security like it was for The Pentagon ( passed everything, nothing to hide) and then just said for reasons we will not reveal your out...
Maybe they just steal personal data...
This is a big scam
This is a big scam. They ask you to May a payment before they can pay you for the work you did. They continue to lie about paying and give you work without payment. They use alias names. They don't even deserve a 1 star.
