Leases... it’s a hell on the Earth

Leases... That is literally the WORST THING which happened to the world.
We rented a car in Sardegna , they took a deposit 600€, STILL NOT returned. When renting a car ( I will not mention waiting in the line for 2 hours, then been said that our car is not ready yet , so we had to wait) we had a car for 6 days. I have told at the desk that we will be leaving Sardegna at 5.00 AM 17 of September 2020, where should we leave the car and who do we have to speak to and giving the key back, he said just bring it here at the same place.
So it’s our last day , all went fine , we have brought the car to the car wash, cleaned it all, came to the airport and to the Leasys desk, everything is apparently closed, it’s 5.00 AM, no one is there , we are like WHAT THE HELL our flight is just in 1.5 hours
So we left... and just left the key on the floor of their office , we have found a little hole and have thrown it down there. I wrote them a letter as well because that day we have got a parking fee , 29 euro, so we asked them whether they can take the money from our account and pay that fee? And we left the parking fee along with the key in their office ( and I have not took a pic of it ... that’s so bad ) I have got a message from them saying nothing about the car , but : you will be in a big trouble if you don’t pay your fee because the car was on your name
Well I tell them : no problem, can you please send me a pic of the fee so I can pay it ? Because I have not took any . I have asked them for 3 times, they just don’t reply !
The stuff is super unfriendly, they literally made me so angry that if they don’t reply, I will come back to Sardegna all way down from Belgium for the sake of that parking fee and they LEASYS will really regret about it.
Dear “Laura” responding to all comments on here , don’t pretend to be sorry about the company’s mistakes . Because until now you must have been done something to it . You literally spoil people’s vacation with your service, don’t you know ? SO I AM SAYING THAT.
people, better go on foot than renting via Leasys .

Choose another serious company

Please keep away that company. I rented a car in February 2020. Just before corona crisis. They took the payment two times. The customer service did not respond. After social media expose, they returned to me. Afterwards, they accepted and returned. Another issue is two months later they took 40 eur and 20 eur without any notification. I thought that these a traffic fines. They paid on behalf of me. But they are not paying. They are just taking money. This company is totally disappointment. Choose another serious company.

DODGY COMPANY, AVOID !

i hired a car in valencia in Nov19 from leasys but had to collect it from firefly as leasy’s did not have their own office, they said full insurance was included in the price i had already paid when i booked it online, i returned it with no damage and with a full tank of fuel.
on my return and when i got my credit card statement i noticed that firefly took a payment of £117, leasys took a payment of £34 and the additional payment i made on line when booking it of £107 ! so what was a cheap car to start with, a 4 day booking in a fiat 500 has cost me £258 !!!!
but the plot thickens, today i got another credit card statement and leasys have taken another £17 for no reason whatsoever with the transaction date at end of december !
AVOID THIS RENTAL COMPANY AT ALL COSTS AS WHEN I PROBLEM LIKE THIS ARISES U CANT GET IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE TO QUIERY IT !!

Don't give them your credit card info!

They suddenly were called leasys, without letting me know after my booking. That took me some time on the airport...
4 months after my car rental (all paid) they suddenly deducted 40 euros of my credit card, without an email or call! They don't have any reason for that. Hope to get an answer and a refund from them soon...

40 Euros for a fake ticket

I rented a car in March 2019 for about a week. It all went smoothly, the car was as agreed, I drove it, returned it and thought that was it. In May, however, I received a notice that I had violated some law while driving the car and Winrent needed to deduct a handling fee of 40 Euros for providing my data to the Italian authorities. Over a half a year later... still no trace of any ticket.

Looks like there never was any ticket and Winrent simply stole my 40 Euros

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

In many years of car rental, Winrent are by far the worst company I have ever used and here is why. They have a very limited selection of cars but managed to supply an automatic SUV for me. I am a seasoned traveller so I checked my car carefully when picking it up. On the second day of my stay reverse gear failed meaning I had to drive 100 miles back to the airport to exchange. When I arrived there was no apology at all and a surly attendant walked around the car and then accused me of damaging it. I only had it 1 day and drove to and from the airport and I know For certain that was no new damage but when I got home there was the 40€ fee that so many other reviewers also got and there was nothing I could do to stop it even with photos, they ignored me. I would have expected any decent company to offer ME 40€ for the inconvenience of having to return to the airport to exchange my car but no apology was forthcoming and they treated me like I was a pain to them.

I then had to wait 4 hours at the airport with my family for another automatic which finally turned up.

The rest of the holiday passed without incident and we returned that car at the end of the stay. Then, 2 months after the holiday another 40€ was taken from my credit card and when I asked why I was told (you guessed it) that the police had asked for my details as I had done something wrong (they could not tell me what) and that this is what it costs to give them my name and address !

I knew that I had done nothing wrong but under Italian law the police can send you the fine up to 1 year after they have requested your details from the car company so I waited and sure enough, 1 year passed last week and guess what, no fine arrived.

This company, as so many others have said are just there to rip you off for as much extra money as they can. Their service is shoddy and surly staff treat you as an inconvenience whilst making every attempt to fleece you for damage money whether you have actually damaged the car or not. To cap it all it appears that they use the police excuse to add a surcharge of 40€ to your bill even if you didn’t actually do anything.

I will never use this company again and I strongly urge you not to use them too. If for some crazy reason you do use them then make sure you add 80€ to whatever fee they charge as that is what they will add to your bill when you get home.

Worst service ever..

Worst service ever... Charge 40eur for sending your id to the police is a total robbery. I contact the company and asked them to send me the police contact, to be sure that the story is true, but did not get any response. So I dont know if its true about the fine. They just charged you and do not explain or prove anything. I just made a complaint to my bank! awful awful service!

Pure stealing

The whole experince in Italy was good and delivered the car with no issues. The worst came after I was back home.

Two months after I delivered the car, I get an email from Leasys saying that I had gotten a parking ticket in Napoli (there was nothing on the car). They charged me 40€ as a penalty for getting the ticket. I asked for more info on the ticket and was told that I would get the actual ticket on my address and they could not disclose any more information. I insisted and they eventually told me the time and place of the ticket. That's when I got to the conclusion that it was a lie. The time of the ticket was half an hour after my plane landed. They were basically saying that in 30 minutes I got off my plane, collected my luggage, got the car, drove to Napoli city center and had still had the time to be parked enough time to get a ticket, all this on a Sunday. I told them this, and still to this day haven't got an answer.

Then, three months after I left the car, I got another invoice. Now they are charging me the drop-off charge (which I had already paid) and a re-fuelling charge of almost 30€. I filled the tank just outside the airport, so this is pure stealing.

Excellent rental i will continue to use LEASYS.

We rented a car in Sardinia in the city of Olbia for 15 days. from 09.16.19 to 01.10.19

Upon receipt of the car, everything went very quickly. Polite staff. We got a new JEEP Renegade with a mileage of 500km

I think it's best car for rent because we are we are kitesurfers and we have big bagage.

When rental finish, we washed the car. The return was very fast. The reserved amount was returned within two weeks.
Excellent rental will continue to use LEASYS.

Horrible Experience with 3 rental cars in a row with Winrent

August 2019: 10th trip and rental in Italy. First time with WinRent Fiumicino: purchased the super Collision Damage Waiver for total protection. Involved in an accident. Was T-boned turning left on a 2 lane road by a Mercedes passing me (by travelling in the oncoming lane). Serious damage ($6,000 euro), air bags deployed, my left arm bruised and sore, my head hit the side glass. I filled out all the collision forms with the attending police and got the other driver's insurance info. Police say the Mercedes should not have passed me while I was turning left and had my signal light on. Tow truck charge: $130 euro. Winrent says the insurance company assesses me 50/50 blame! Then I get a replacement car at 7PM. The replacement car blows the lower radiator hose on the autostrada. Another tow truck and 2 hours back to Fiumicino. A third vehicle at 10PM. Now too late to drive at night as we had a wedding to go to in Calabria. Winrent refused to cover a motel cost even though we had full insurance. Start driving early morning and notice a buzz felt through the steering wheel. At the next fuel stop, I look at the wheels and find 1 lug nut missing FROM EACH WHEEL! Back on the phone on a Sunday. Told to not drive on autostrada and drive about 25km to next Winrent dealer. Get there and they are CLOSED FOR LUNCH. I call the emergency number and a young man says he has the wheel lug nuts but I have to wait until after lunch ( a 2 hour event in Italy; told lunch is SACROSANT (holy: most important family meal of the day and not a true emergency!). I should have left the car there and cancelled my credit card and found another company. At least 4 emails explaining my story and no credit or compassion or caring from this company. This company has real issues from the top management to the bottom front end staff. The staff in the DAMAGE DEPARTMENT do not even give their names on emails. Very easy to say 50/50 blame and no appeal process. Not sure if the response is from the same person every time. I will never rent with them or any of their aliases. My recommendation is avoid this company, save yourself grief and $$$ and go with the big international companies. If companies fail their customers, they deserve to fail.

We had a great experience with Leasys…

We had a great experience with Leasys Bari Airport: the service was fast and professional, Rino spoke very good English and explained all the details to us.
They also made an upgrade to Renegade, motivated by having made the reservation on their own website with the full cover. The car was very good, almost brand new, with only 2000 km.
Before the reservation they were also very prompt to answer my question on both whatsap and email, which I highly apreciated.
Although I was nervous about the reservation, having read some negative reviews, everything went very well.
We are going to rent again from them when going to Italy.

Toll Rip-Off by the Italian Govt. with Win-Rent helping them

Traveled to Italy in February with friends and shared a car. They used their credit card for the purchase. We chose Win Rent when our flight was delayed and the travel agency said they would notify Hertz… But when we arrived Hertz claimed they did not receive an email and had no car for us. The good news was that Win Rent was very expedient in getting us a car and getting us on the road. The checkout process, the car itself, and the check in process all went smoothly for us. We had already stood in line for over an hour at the Hertz terminal just waiting to talk to someone and then we found out they had no car for us. The Hertz response was "wait 2 hours and maybe, yes maybe, we will have a car for you".

However as many below have indicated, about 2 months after we returned from our vacation, our friends received the notification of the $40 charge from Win Rent because we supposedly didn't pay a toll. We clearly remember that tollbooth with no attendant and no arm. We sincerely believed that they only charged tolls during certain times of the day. I found out from one of your reviews today that these unmanned Autostradas are TOLL ROADS WITHOUT BARRIERS. The reviewer said that you need to go online and pay your toll within 15 days from going through the booth. That was news to us.

So the $40 is bad enough and I understand that's to give information to the authorities, in this case the tollbooth administrative folks.

Now the Italian government is charging us 143 Euro as a fine. For going through this unmanned toll booth. My friends want to pay the fine and move on, but I'm objecting. So shame on the Italian government for trying to put the screws to us. Nothing worse than a country trying to rip off tourists who spend their money in that country. I know the Italian economy can use our tourist dollars. Planned to go back to Rome at some point… But now I'm not so sure!

LEASYS: TERRIBLY BAD

If you are going to Italy, do not rent a car at Leasys.
We had problems with the car's battery. It took two days of calling and waiting and calling and waiting. Nobody solved anything. Even the garage owner called it "Scandaloso."
Eventually we ourselves had to go back from Arezzo to Florence to pick up another car. And then we managed to get another car by becoming very angry.
Leasys: terribly bad organization, terribly bad communication.
Never do !!

SCAM. RIP OFF. DO NOT USE

We picked up a car from Naples airport, rental number 31232497, and were made to sign the paperwork before had seen the car. The gentleman who showed us to the car could speak no English and walked straight back to the desk after hanging over the key. I noticed the damage straight away and took several photos in case they tried anything on.

When we returned the car I tried to explain the situation to the gentleman who took the keys. He also could speak no English. Still concerned, I went to the Leasy’s desk in Rome station. To my relief this gentleman spoke good English. He told me not to worry and that we wouldn’t be charged. Worryingly, he also told me that the staff at Naples airport often don’t allow customers to check their cars before they are made to sign the paperwork.

We have since been charged over €295 for the damage that was on the car before we collected!!!
It’s my guess that several people have been charged for the same damage.

LEASY’S ARE A SCAM COMPANY AND WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. DO NOT USE!!!

Avoid Leasys at all costs

Leasys, formerly known as Win Rent, has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They charged me a huge fee for minor scratches on the car, and screwed me over on my insurance claim by providing the insurance company with incorrect details - and refused to change it.

What basically happened was they told the external insurance company that I returned the car on another date, when I wasn't even charged for renting the car over those dates. Rather than putting in a tiny bit of effort to help me with my claim (like an email confirmation, or any correspondence would probably have done), they just told me where to go in an extremely abrupt and rude way. Which has now meant the insurance company won't pay out to me.

The prices can be appealing, but if they make a mistake forget about them trying to fix it. They also charged me a ridiculous amount for the tiny scratch on the car. Can't express more how much they should be avoided.

Dear Mr. Peca,

let us say that we have tried everything we could to give you assistance for your case, as well as the Tour operator you have used to place your reservation through, has tried to do.
Everything has been caused by the non return of keys to our branch; our local agent found the car only a few days after the expected retur time, and it was parked in parking stalls not ours.
We regret for your unpleasant experience, even if not been caused by our company indeed; we confirm to have done all necessary to make the charge clear.

Second review also positive for Winrent…

Second review also positive for Winrent now called Leasys. Booked Fiat Tipo estate from Milan Malpensa for four days end of June. Please note that they are only based in Terminal 1, i arrived in Terminal 2 where Easyjet goes and it required a 15 minute free bus transfer between terminals. The error was mine not Winrent as had not realised two terminals. Once in terminal found desk in corner, no queue, seemed to take longer to process than should but all done in friendly manner, no hard sell on extra insurance (why can one not send all drivers details before arriving so paperwork is ready for immediate hand over). Short walk to Car Hire area A where met by girl again no queue and well lit, who went round car and any marks WE found she wrote on contract (why she had not already marked these up before our arrival leaves a question). Car was pretty new and good no problems. On return same girl checked car back in and made a thorough inspection and declared car fine.

with regard to the many comments on the 40 euro charge, yes it is a ridiculously high charge for emailing you an invoice and passing your details to the fine enforcer but it is in their and most other hire contracts. It is important that hirers realise three things firstly in many large cities in Italy vehicles are banned from many parts and bus lanes I was done a while back entering the wrong road in Florence. Secondly a lot of the Autostrads have automatic speed cameras and thirdly something i found out on this trip is that some Autostradas are TOLL ROADS WITHOUT BARRIERS. Unlike on most toll roads where you have to go through a toll booth and pay, On these roads you have to go online or get the app and pay the toll within 15 days of using the road (unless you have telepass). i used the A36 on my way to and back to Lake Como which is charged 3.22 Euros each way. It is very easy not to realise that it is a toll road and not pay and potentially get 80 euros in charges from Leasys for two notices of failure to pay. Google Pedemontana for the link for more details.

So two rentals from Winrent/Leasys and both have been straight forward with good cars fast service and no problems so i can recommend
