Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the subscription model, reporting unexpected charges and difficulty canceling. Customers also found the application intrusive, with some raising concerns about its installation process and its impact on computer settings. The payment process was a significant source of frustration, with numerous complaints about billing discrepancies, immediate billing despite free trial offers, and issues with refunds. Some people were dissatisfied with the user experience, finding the software slow, complicated, and not always compatible with other office programs. Reviewers also mentioned problems with the product itself, such as corrupted files, read-only access without payment, and difficulties with formatting. Conversely, a small portion of people felt the product offered good features, excellent compatibility with MS Office files, a useful template library, and reliable performance.

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! Used this for years and it was perfect. Then the advertising got more frequent to the point of being intrusive and aggravating. Then they made you sing up for an account. Now they have disabled lots of features unless you take a paid version. I'm not a business or professional so the free version was great for occasional use. Not any more. I will be changing to an alternative, perhaps Libre Office? So sad when they hook you for free then later take the gift back.

Invasive & potentially unsafe

When you install the app, it automatically becomes the default application to open most document types (PDF/PNG etc). Sure, if you are a person who doesn't use the computer often then an all in one suite WPS offers might be fine but not when you have other applications or like the default Windows photo viewer.

Tried graphing in their sheets application, it's very pushy to getting you to pay for it by showing a list of all graphs and only 1 is free and the rest is paid for.

With a very vague and potentially dangerous privacy policy of:
We may, at our own discretion, collect, use, process, transfer or disclose Non-Personal Data for other purposes as well.

I am no lawyer but that says they can do whatever they want at any time or give it to anyone. They also have AI features so it looks like they want to train AI on documents you write.

I was looking at alternatives to Microsoft Office, have yet to find one. Going with Office 365 seems like the safer choice compared to WPS

Bloatware/Crapware

Bloatware/Crapware, installs itself and overtakes all file types. Aggresive software. OpenOffice is a much better alternative.

Daylight Robbers

The Level of disappointment cannot be recorded at this point, They offered a 3 day Trial with a monthly based payment on it, I tried it out because I needed to sign a Document and WPS was an App that was already installed in my Phone.On the 4th day they Swiped out of my Paypal Account €40.99 for a Years worth of Subcription without even sending me an email to ask if I was interested in using their Services or what payment terms I was Comfortable with. Who are they to decide what my budget is and if I can or cannot afford it.? The False advertise monthly payments and then they just take a Years worth of Subcription is ridiculous, once you Contact them the Automated reply comes through telling you to email their "feedback" email Add and they will look into the matter but in all honesty they do not even check your emails.
In my Opinion this is daylight robbery and there are probably better Apps you can use to Sign documents and do whatever Office work you need to be done.
DO NOT TRUST THIS WEBSITE AND DO NOT PUT ANY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.
Check Reviews of other people who have been robbed even after they Cancel the subscription and you will save yourself the time to beg for your refund back, which you probably won't get.

I'm Hooked on WPS Office!

Here's why I give WPS Office a big 5 out of 5 stars:

* Mobile app (excellent)
* Does everything MS Office does, but uses tabs.
* Collaborate on a document.
* Document link sharing.
* Only $35 per year, basically free!!
* Built-in OCR feature to convert photo-formatted PDF text into editable text.
* Recently added photo and video viewer, as well as an AI assistant writer
* Low resource requirements, so it won't slow down your computer.
* Linux Ubuntu version is completely free to download and use.
* Desktop version can view and edit most popular file types, free to use for unlimited period.

A family subscription option with unlimited document storage will be a welcome addition.

I'm keeping my subscription for years to come!

The whole thing is full of spam and…

The whole thing is full of spam and popups that advertise pro versions and paid for versions, which seem to increase in frequency.

I wish I'd just bought word instead... I paid for this version directly from them, and they want more money to stop spamming me...

Use the software, but do not upgrade it

The software itself is fine, so fine indeed that I wanted to upgrade it to premium, so on 17 March 2024 I paid for a one-year renewable premium subscription. However, it has never been upgraded. I wrote three times to the Customer service: the first time they asked me for my payment details, then they simply disappeared and have never even bothered to reply anymore.

Unistall it, and your adobe reader gone too

I'm pretty sure that I uninstall WPS from the local folder. The thing I don't get is, why my Acrobat Reader suddenly is not on my pc anymore too? Now, I need to download an Acrobat PDF reader for my works, but it takes too long, 'cause I'm out and using my Internet's phone. I have to work, and I'm glad that your team can fix this bug for the other clients that are going to try your application without issues like this. And also is full of spam

Huge, doesn't uninstall, and installs almost to your kernel.

Tried to uninstall it and it kept itself hidden safely in File Explorer, not uninstalling. Has a lot of spam, too. Had to use the trial version of Revo Uninstaller Pro, it removed about 10,000 registry keys, gigabytes of space, and a ton of files, ALL related to WPS. So many files were removed that I thought Revo overshot and ruined the computer, but after reviewing the files and registry keys it turned out that Revo was correct. WPS really did infiltrate the system that much.

This is horribly creepy and unsettling software. These types of installers should be illegal. I would rather use notepad.

2024 Updates make WPS unusable

Until 2023 I was a very satisfied user of WPS Office. Since recent updates, however, the free suite has become unusable. Even old versions of WPS that I reinstalled and have attempted to prevent from updating are now not allowing input of new info (to spreadsheet) or saving (of spreadsheets, documents). Have now tried to remove all traces of WPS from my Win10 system, and am using LibreOffice.

BEWARE! Unethical Company.

BEWARE!
When paying for the one year subscription, they incorporate an annual renewal, without making it obvious. There is a small message that indicates an annual renewal in small grey print, right below the LARGE BLACK BOLD font. It's easy to miss, especially If you're in a hurry, or you're like me and have mental health issues, which includes ADHD so focus and paying attention in an issue. It's easy to miss by design.

Business's you can trust understand that people make mistakes and have mental issues that affect focus and attention, therefore issue refunds. Not WPS, it seems their business model preys on people like me. It's a scam that's designed to give you no recourse.

To be clear, it's not the fact they subtilty incorporate auto renew that makes a scam, it's the fact they subtilty incorporate auto renew, THEN refuse to give you a refund.

I personally do not trust a company with ethics like WPS to do business with then anymore.
I hope this makes people aware of their auto renew tactic and to cancel auto renew immediately if it's not what you wanted. Or better still, choose another product from a company with better ethics.

It's not a safe software

It's not a safe software: when an app forces itself on your computer, get installed automatically without any consent and becomes the app by default for all your Microsoft Documents, of all types, and there's no way you can remove it unless you format your computer, this is not a respectul softare! I think you should avoid opening any WPS document when you're using something else especially if you want to avoid publicity on your screen while you're working and presenting! WPS forced its way into my computer when I received an email from a friend who's using it, I opened it thinking it was an excel sheet from a sure source. And now there's a huge mess in my computer and no way to uninstall and get get rid of the software.

Width slider to adjust the…

Why is the width slider to adjust the width of a WPS file, eg spreadsheet not working? It used tto work so that I could reduce the width to 25% (and fill the rest of the screen with something else (non-sprteadsheet, eg website, search engine) but now, when I click on the Right hand corner to minimise, it will only reduce to 75% of the width and the slider to narrow it will not work!
I have tried everything other than to uninstal the app (which I'm afraid to do in case I lose any data) and reinstall.
